The problem with this in a live situation is that if you press it more than once you have to try and remember what song you are playing. There should be some kind of display to show you what track you are playing. A simple led would help here
I noticed in the L4 mode, when you hit the button to exit the pause there was a slight delay before the track re commenced. How would this work in a live performance when you paused the backing track (for say 4 beats) then there was this delay?
Hi Anton We do have a video from an interview with Britain’s Rare Guitars showing BakTrak MDE in use. I will see that it is posted to our channel shortly. th-cam.com/video/GAy9rtAjZR8/w-d-xo.html Apologies for the very late reply ……. Kind regards Keith G Jones Tech (CEI) - BakTrak
So in this demo, it appears that you’re playing it through your guitar amp along with possibly other pedals, can this pedal work just as a backing track unit that just goes to front of house for live shows? I don’t want to go through my amp, I wanted to just go into a DI that goes to front of house and I can trigger it from centerstage right next to my pedals.
Yes, BakTrak was developed for just that situation, with the output going directly to the front of house mixer in ether stereo or mono. The input just allows for a practice situation where the track is mixed with the input so it could all go through your amp. If your tracks are stereo you would need a BakTrak Stereo to Mono adaptor with the built in passive channel mixer (BT1030) then into the DI box with a mono screened cable. If your tracks are mono (best recorded to both channels) you can take a mono screened cable directly from the BakTrak output to the mixer or the Mono DI. Bear in mind that the BakTrak output is unbalanced and you should avoid long cable runs, by running through the DI box it will be converted into a balanced output and into the stage snake to go as far as required.
Check out the Digitech Trio Plus pedal. You can actually record and play and loop. That said, the issue both is that you have to have set list so you know which tracks are where.
I would suggest a pedal like this that could play at least 4 separate mono tracks at the same time and address each of them to a different output(4 output needed, like an audio interface), this would be useful to separate, for example, the metronome channel from other complementary tracks in a live concert. it would also be nice to have a luminous simple display showing the number of the track to be played, because often the stage is dark to see what is written on the pedal. it would all be very useful
Does it automatically move onto the next song when the first is finished? (that would be incredibly irritating). . Or do you have to stop it each time? Ideally it finishes the first song and needs a new click to start the next song.
It sounds like there's a lot of lag between pressing the footswitch and the track starting to play. I need something to play accompanying parts live (bass, solos etc) and it has to be spot on responsive.
There is no delay between pressing the foot switch and the track playing, however if the track is paused there is a half second delay before the track plays. This is the same for all three BakTrak models.
the foot switch is very close to the. rotary switch which could be a problem. Are there any plans to produce a food pedal with a larger switch pedal for more accurancy?
Um..... FAIL! Major Fail! First of all, there is waaaay too long of a time delay pressing the button before you hear the track. Especially if you want to use the pedal for sound FX at a certain part in a song. The delay makes it useless! Secondly, turn the dial? On a foot-switch?? Makes NO sends. This should be a UP/DOWN separate set of buttons with as simple as an LED digital indicator. Level rotary knob I agree - set it and forget it. Like another comment, I agree, the button is in foot-proximity of the rotary dial. Could cause an issue. Ok, with those things it might bring up the price a bit, but then at least it would be usable. Oh and, almost forgot, the super-bestest way of powering this puppy is to make the output via XLR since it's probably going right to the PA anyway. Then it could be PHANTOM POWERED, which would also reduce the need of a power cable or batteries. That's my comment for today!
Hi William The tracks will start instantly the footswitch is pressed, make sure the tracks are trimmed with no silent parts at the start or end of the tracks. Apologies for the very late reply ……. Kind regards Keith G Jones Tech (CEI) - BakTrak
Hi David ... yes, the BakTrak Pro and BakTrak MDE will play either MP3 or WAV files, just load them onto the Micro SD card and away you go ... Kind Regards Keith
I’m looking for a backing track solution and this claims to do what I need, and yet this box is very unappealing. The fonts are unappealing, the name printed on both sides of the play/stop switch, and what appears to be a puff sticker with the name and website make it feel amateurish. The circle type bullets butting up next to each other add more visual chaos-it ends up feeling wrong. Don’t care for having to work with a card: save me time by using a USB interface. The Idoru feels so much better.
Hi Chris We have now sold over 600 pedals worldwide and this is not a problem that has been reported. It may be something in your setup or a problem with the Micro SD card. Could you send us a photo of your cabling setup and the system that you are connecting to, as it could be a ground loop issue. The loop through input on BakTrak is designed for practice and gives a mixed output of your instrument and the track that you are trying to learn. When playing live your instrument and effects pedals should be taken directly to your back line, with BakTrak as an independent stereo or mono feed to the mixer. We have replied to your email and I am sure that we will be able to help …… Kind regards Keith G Jones Tech (CEI) - BakTrak
I bought this 3 years ago - the unit is let down by the rip off horrific prices the makers are charging for accessories. There is nothing unique or special about the accessories. Take the battery pack for example - there is plenty of room in the unit to have a battery compartment as standard - the battery pack allows you to connect two 9 volt batteries - price is £85! Unacceptable, im actually really annoyed about this.
Q. Can the Drummer get a click track at the same time the backing track goes to the PA? A. We have a “Stereo to Split Mono” adapter (BT1031) that separates the stereo output into left and right mono channels. This is normally used for situations where the drummer wants a click track synced to the backing track (ie) Record a stereo track with the music panned hard right and the click track panned hard left you can then send the click track to the drummers in-ears and the music to the PA. We also have a BakTrak “Sync Kit” which allows you to sync two BakTrak pedals together, this option allows you to start two stereo tracks together, but you will need two BakTrak’s. Cheers Keith (BakTrak)
We also have a BakTrak “Sync Kit” which allows you to sync two BakTrak pedals together. Well, two pedals is more expensive ! For half-price i get a cymatic audio live player LP16 or a Old Roland VS or a Zoom R8
Well welll welllll… You said « PRO » ? Let me give you a more realistic, ol less commercial opinion : BakTrak 9V power connexion is NOT compatible with standards music-board power buses , because the connector is different. I had to create a special connector, cutting the power supply ans adding a 9V compatible connexon ! About micro SD card, the system insert is reversed ! How to imagine inserting a SD card reversly ? In addition, the slot is too far and you sometime you let the card going into th box, of course you can open the screws to rescue your card ☹… Extracting or inserting the card need a small tool because the PCB circuit is to far away... In addition, the stereo connectors should be able to detect “mono” connection, like a lot of guitar pedals, unfortunatly you have to buy a special Y connector… BakTrak will be useful, but only considering you have to be particularly "PRO" yourself... unfortunately there is no other choice... Best regards.
Hi Christian (AKA: Algado Photo) Thank you for your feedback …. we have responded to all of your emails and are sorry that you have not received them, we have therefore posted our reply here to your latest email generally as above …. We have shipped over 700 BakTrak pedals world wide and have not had a power socket problem reported prior to your comments, however with so many size variants available it is possible. The BakTrak DC socket has a 5.5mm barrel and a 2.1mm centre pin, industry standard for the power rating required. All BakTrak pedals operate from a 9vDC input (industry standard) and will auto select between centre pin + (Pos) and centre pin - (Neg). There are many power plug size adaptors available on the internet, but you have solved you power socket mis -match by making one yourself … that’s cool. We are not aware that there is an up or a down default for Micro SD cards the BakTrak instructions are very clear as to how the card should be inserted both in written form and clear illustrations. Regarding your difficulty inserting the Micro SD card into the reader, this has only been reported once before by one of several visually impaired singers & guitarists that use BakTrak pedals . The guitarist in question said "It was OK, he only did it once, but the fact that all of the control switches have a positive click function makes it ideal for him". All versions of BakTrak automatically sense Mono and Stereo files if you have Mono files simply use a 6.3mm jack mono cable and if the files are Stereo use a 6.3mm jack stereo cable. Kind regards Keith G Jones Tech (CEI) - BakTrak

Do yourself a favor and get a boss RC 505. It blows this thing out of the water
Can I add my own track? I don' see a USB connection
Hello You add tracks via a micro SD card. You can have up to 48 tracks.
Got one. It's really noisy. Anyone else having this issue?
