@@chuckdriver8269 Behringer actually bred a race of rodents that they put inside of the enclosure that can sing what you play. That’s how they can sell them for $29. No batteries required - you open the back and insert some hamster kibble once a month. Once I forgot to feed my pedal and it stunk up the whole house.
And in the Inside isn't electronics but a small army of dwarfs. So you don't have to feed the pedal with electricity but with small peaces of humus. Thank you both. It was great fun watching your video.

They had me at first. I was pretty blown away at Rhett's opening demo tune. But, I basically knew it was a put-on as soon as Josh started calling one of his own products by so many... well, really by _any_ superlatives. Calling the Voice Tech the "single greatest invention in the history of music technology" and "a new form of human expression" he even pretty much maintained a straight face, but even so i thought "that's not the Josh I have ever seen or heard talking about his own (JHS) products." Ever! Seriously, anyone following the channel knows what I mean. Sure, he will wax exuberant over pedals from Boss, Digitech, Wampler, heck, just about any other device maker and I take him at his word, because its genuine. But he's just not the toot-your-own-horn, I'm-a-hero, self-promoter type, even though his pedals and amps (and channel) KILL IT over and over again. So, great performances from both guys. Rhett even got in a diss, that the vibrato isn't following the player, that it's like "an easy button" which lent an air of believability. But Josh, he went a little over the top about his own pedal, eh? That's my take. I love the whole concept though, and they never give up the ruse! "Never drop the con" -Sneaky Pete

Brilliant, love Josh and Rhett both. Seriously a very interesting pedal, looking forward to the next variant. Love to own this pedal, next step is to learn how to play the guitar.
My favorite part was when Rhett said the lack of an expression pedal was a blatant oversight by Josh! 🤣
I would have taken the pedal back and got somebody else to demo it. Maybe John Browne can do some sick downpicked throat vocals. Or throw some post distortion and now you can have Disturbed "oo ah ah ah ah!!!!" Vocals any time

Same here: I was listening to this while driving and didn't check the date it was posted on... and I utterly fell for it. Rhett and Josh's performance was so straightforward that I never once thought to second guess any of it.

Wow! That sounds amazing! Only improvement I can imagine is adding a jack for a sustain/hold foot switch so you can play guitar while holding a harmonious chord and just release is to change chords again.

It is a good idea. We have the technology to do it. I don't think it would be that hard for an experienced plugin developer to write the DSP code.

I think a pedal like this is actually an inevitability. It doesn't seem that out of reach, text to speech and deep fakes exist, so why not sim sing. I think when a device like this does get made, they'll use this video as a "used to be a joke" marketing spin

I love this pedal. With the tech we have now it's actually possible to make it for real. I hope they do. In the meantime we can simulate it with midi guitars. It would also make sense for it to have 2 switches so switch 1 is solo voice and switch 2 is choir.

I'm impressed with the amount of work that must have gone into this video. Amazing, and very funny. Actual educational content, too!
The fact that it’s analog is what makes it so cool. There are digital voice emulators that can be controlled by midi, and you can buy midi converters to turn a guitar signal into midi, and thus have a similar effect. But you need a computer, extra software, midi converter, etc. Having an analog voice emulator tracking that cleanly with guitar in such a simple package is awesome. Hopefully this isn’t over $200USD, but I might go as high as $300.

Now my grandfather actually worked on this project at the jmi factory, and he told me about the best feature for the original formant section of the circuit which was the muco switch. It worked in tandem with the vibrato control to make your voice sound fresh and phlegmy like you just woke up or strained and tired and frail like after the third day of namm. Big misstep.
This would fit perfectly on the Live at Pompeii set. In all seriousness, nice chord progression.
Live from Pompeii is EXECTLY what I was thinking during that ripping solo. April 1st aside that was an incredible sound, nice!

They had me up to about 5 min into this..was very convincing! I have a Fishman triple play midi set up on my guitar and it has voices on it and it sounds amazing so for a few minutes I bought into this bc I actually do have these sounds in my midi rig, but not in a pedal form.

Lol. I think the truth is that pretty much anybody who has a successful TH-cam channel would do fine in sales - they all communicate effectively, for sure. For example, Keith at "5 Watt World" channel seems, on the surface, to be just a regular, no-nonsense dude (and I love his work - his latest, "the guitar history of Keith Richards" is brilliant), but I think you'll find if you listen to him, he's a darn good salesman when he's taking care of the peripheral business of his channel.

Dang, I was so disappointed to read "Special Preorder 50% off..." thinking it was for the pedal. Thank you, Rhett and Josh for making my day April 11. (I was on the last leg of a four-day spring break road trip, heading home after truck frame rustproofing treatment, and helping to move cattle, remove electric fencers (you can produce some vocals with those), wire and posts. Pee on an electric fence...? Never done that, but I tested our first 'weedburner' electric fence by grabbing it and the pulse blew my fingers open from their grip on the wire. And then Dad said, "There's a different test tool for that (pulsed current) kind of fence." 😄🙄

This is exactly what I had in mind with the KORG DVP1, which has been sitting in my studio-rack since 2001. Even then it was "lost behind the wagon" as it came out in 1985 alongside the EX8000 :)

This has to be the funniest joint video of JHS and Rhett Shull. I figured it out almost from the beginning but just had to watch until the end. Beautifully played, Rhett. I'm a fan, and I learn much from you that furthers my journey (at 64 yo) down the road of playing the guitar. But, as an actor and acting teacher, I'm very impressed by your commitment and belief in the story you're telling. Simple delivery, conversational but with some real respect for the massive discovery that this history making pedal actually is. It's not important that I believe in the technology, all I need to believe is that you believe it. And I believe. I was a little leery when you threw some shade about Josh not incorporating the ability to use an expression pedal (though that makes absolute sense to be able to do so), but I kept on believing. Even now, when I take a long hard look at the calendar, I still want to believe! Thanks for 16:47 of joy in a world that's gone mad.

It sort of reminds me of the "Cellos" in the old PowerMac. I loved using that voice to read documents when I first was learning to use screenreaders. It was built into the PowerMac, and worked with simple text documents, and email. Was pretty fun and funny.

It’s funny, Rhett said exactly what I thought like a few seconds before regarding how the expression capability for the dormant control would be great. Additionally, the switch is nice and the xlr output, but maybe an extra “blend” control to control the amount of vocal mix to guitar ratio for those cases where you may not have or need the xlr. The blend. This is me just nitpicking because it is an outstanding innovation. I’ve never used a talk box but I have a Korg mikustomp and despite just the novelty value of it, and the cool factor, the tracking is questionable and sounds like a speak and spell doing fart noises when you try any harmony at all. That being said, I’m a fan of JHS pedals as I own 4 of them, and I can’t wait to try this one!
