Got it one year ago. amazing device with everything you need to replace laptops. Played several gigs with it and it worked really well. One thing I wish they can improve with a firmware update: as a drummer I use headphone output to hear click, cues and live guitar coming to Idoru through aux in. Unfortunately I can hear guitar signal only when idoru is on playing a song. When the playback is stopped between the songs the signal from aux in is not going through. This is really needed in a rehearsing situation. For example you have a new song to rehearse, so you are playing a song again and again and trying to polish some parts. It’s natural to stop playback, play few bars without idoru to check that all is good and then try again the full song. I would love to have the guitar still on in my ears in these situations. But anyway - this device is a solid professional piece of gear. I would recommend it to any band looking for an easy and robust backing track solution.

Excellent presentation and great much needed product. Thank you for posting
Just to be aware of a 'feature' of using MP3 tracks along with midi programme selection: If you rewind to a section, and you don't go early enough, you may miss the associated midi programme select message (as that is placed a couple of seconds earlier) - so you could end up with your Gary Moore full-on lead-break patch over a quiet-reflective acoustic section. No way around that - just something to be aware of.

My dad brought home a tabletop arcade machine in the 80's and our house became Donkey Kong Country in the neighborhood (true story). Great review as always @scottuhl. Appreciate the thorough insights about the Idoru backing track pedal. Appears to do everything I wish my Boss RC-600 did, without the extraneous functionality. I particularly like the six outputs, and ability to customize. Agree with the cons, however, I am not quite as dynamic of a player, and have a much smaller set list that I could easily convert to wav. This would work great for my setup! The only other feature that would make this even better would be battery power for portability.

Ive been running my bands backing tracks from a 2009 Macbook Pro. Something like this would have me getting it on like Donkey Kong...umm country.
In all seriousness, thank you for your videos. Ive been finding alot of great info. Subscribed.

Donkey Kong Country. Love your videos, this equipment would be nice for my church band, I'm the bass player, and sometimes not all the members can make it to the service. Have a great day.

This looks great 😃 despite the hiccups, I could really use this for some shows. I've always had trouble finding musicians to gig with and this could be the solution.

Thank you Scott. Looks like a nice unit. I have been using the Boss RC5 to playback backing tracks when i do clinics and workshops as well as some solo shows. This opens up a lot of possibilities. I do like the 32 bit float 48k files of the boss units. They help with the Donkey Kong Country tunes but they are really big files

I love the music in Donkey Kong Country! I think DKC2 was the best. Love your channel, it’s been a huge help for my cover band to upgrade our setup. This device might be exactly what we are looking for, though not being able to change the setlist midset is going to be tough.

First of all great content as always. Really love the idea of them putting a backing track machine into a pedal format. Cheers

Love this pedal, been willing this into existence for ages! Looks like a great bit of kit even if it costs almost 29x amount of a copy of Donkey Kong Country!

Donkey Kong Country … sending the barrels down hill, well I suppose that’s better than whizzing cannonballs. I’ve been using my old rc300,
I have to tell you , the subject matter of your reviews is spot on.

I really like that this pedal is like the b-beat but has foot switches and is a tad cheaper. Great video Scott! Donkey Kong Country is also probably one of the best video games on the SNES! 😂

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks! And yeah, DKC still holds up to this day!! The b beat has more features such as video, charts/lyrics, teleprompter, output for drummer IEM, etc. but that’s why I reviewed both so people can decide which one works best for them 🤘🤘

Looks like a pretty nice alternated to those other audio interfaces that were still dependent on a tablet, etc. I can imagine a few people this would be great for. On a side note, 100K subs is right around the corner! Cheers!

Donkey Kong Country - this would be perfect for my new solo funk act. I have been writing and was wondering about foot pedals to play back backings instead of having the computer or iPad set up.
Thanks Scott for all of your videos, it makes navigating new equipment amazing 🤩 🎶

I've been looking at this with great interest, the MIDI features especially! I really like the idea of being able to give this to a drummer, and letting them take charge.

Very cool device. One thing I would want on such a device is a significantly larger screen. My old eyes just can't read such a small screen while it's on the floor. Still... interesting tech. Great review, Scott. You just earned a sub.

Interesting piece of gear.. We don't currently use backing tracks, but this could certainly pave the way for us. Thanks for the review on the Donkey Kong Country Idoru P1!
