It is expensive too. Applying for the spot would takes 25 years so you can imagine how much it cost if he were to buy the spot instead of getting gifted by the city for being a successful business owner. It is a luxury home actually.
Jérémie's heart is as beautiful as the boat, as is his love for the water and for his large family of plant friends. The boat is a reflection of the man who built it.

He never gave up his dream and told his story over and over to the water and found a way to make it happen . Well done indeed . Wish them all the best .
Sorry to correct, but they spoke of him creating 50 jobs, not 50 restaurants. Nonetheless, an inspiring and amazing story, and by far my favorite house of all time.

Beautiful story of Jeremie Malvy's journey of having very little when he arrived in France- no money, on French language skills, no family. BUT Jeremie obviously had what is most important in life- determination, intelligence and people skills. I am always happy when people like Jeremie succeed because he is not only a wonderful role model for others who come from very little means, but I am also happy for him because all his hard work has now rewarded him with a life he desired and designed. Love this! The boat is a beautiful home but I also love hearing about Jeremie’s gentle spirit, that shows up in his love for the plants, and in not killing the spider. He is multi talented, truly a special person. I’m impressed that this lovely couple would invite the world into their home. Thank you for the tour.
I don't know what is more astonishing. The couple in the story or Jeremy's creation. The boat is stunning, it's an architectural masterpiece. The part where he just stands peacefully looking out the window is like life's reward to his hard life. He made it, he got there. Kudos!
I tend to do the same with our Thai home which I designed and have done a lot of the finishing. I daily stand on our raised pattios/balconies and just look at the garden and surrounds. I have to pinch myself now hat I've retired and I'm here full time.
Good for.him though. Everything about their entire existance (in a nutshell) is astonishing. You know when Life has played a role in bringing certain people together.
This is definitely one of the top transformations period, from what it looked like to what it looks like today is absolutely beautiful work. I love her personality I'm sure I'm not the only one that would like to know more about them as a couple and there journey. Thanks for sharing this with us......
He touched my heart. Such a kind soul. I went through some of what he went through almost. He had it so much worse, and look at him now. I was homeless in WA state, sleeping in a van, pregnant in 18 degree weather. I went to the beach a lot. Because I grew up by the water, and I prayed to the water, and I also cried. God sent me so many signs that I was going to be ok. Today I fixed my credit, I saved money, and I worked very hard. Even though I have Stage IV Breast/Cancer, I fell blessed. Working 40 hours in pain, towards that dream that goal, I feel blessed. This November I will start buying my home. I cannot wait. I also speak to my plants now, like they are my family. That’s awesome! His kind soul! God bless them always!
There seems to be spirituality in the water. It calls to you and listens when you need it the most. I wish you much success and less pain in your journey with cancer. You seem so humble and grateful for the life you have despite all the challenges. All the best 😔💕
What an incredible home. You can see how proud Jeremie is. First time I ever heard of this gentleman and can’t help but feel immense happiness for him at what he’s accomplished. Very inspiring.
@@amjadazizmalvy I just subscribed to your channel. Would LOVE if you posted any videos around your tranquil home, the river, or just Paris and France in general. Peace and love!
I've seen my share of maritime retrofits before, but everything in the Malvys' project is top shelf. It looks like a combination hotel and arboretum onboard, with ingenious design features. Pity that, in the United States, you could never get something like this ever done due to zealot zoning restrictions and code issues. The fact that they could do this in Paris - not known as a slouch in the overregulation department itself - is somewhat of a miracle in its own right. The Malvys are a great couple, down-to-Earth, modest, and appreciative of where they are and where they have come from. Major kudos to them, and to Kirsten and the crew for finding them...
I might be misunderstanding you, but the US has several places just like this. Look up Sausalito and Seattle houseboats. Especially in Sausalito, a fair amount of the houseboats were working barges and such prior, that were rehabbed just like the one they show in the story. This barge IS definitely the best one I've seen.
@@chippychin Interesting that you bring up Sausalito and Seattle. The rule in American economics is that if you have enough money you can put anything anywhere. Back in the late 90s I lived on a sailboat in San Diego. The marina restrictions were onerous then, and now with the ionospheric housing market, they are downright mercenary. By decree of the Port of SD (why they have jurisdiction baffles me) a marina can only have up to 10% of its slips as liveaboards, for which of course the slip fee doubles. No problem there. However, to legally become liveaboard you have to traverse a veritable gauntlet - the main fist of that gauntlet being the "waiting list". Most people die before their name gets to the top. Meanwhile, similiar to apartments in rent control cities like New York and San Francisco, these liveaboard slips get subleased out into perpetuity by the lucky holders of that slip, in complete violation of the rules. As far as Marin and Seattle go, I think I've seen the vessels that you're referring to, and I would contend that those were grandfathered in from the 40s, 50s, and 60s, when America was still more or less a free country (unless you were a minority) and you could pretty much do anything you wanted as long as you didn't hurt anybody. But try to escape the deathgrip of tract home builders and their zoning laws, and you will encounter legions of lawyers who will devour your investment in legal fees and damages. Once upon a time you could, but now?...
@@bartphlegar8212 Thank you for such an informative response. I do agree that back before corporations ran our country, a lot of things were a lot easier for the common person. Kick the BIG money out, and we'll get our country back.
Magical place. I loved Jeremie telling his story and that the boat is essentially a reflection of all of his past desires. Stunning work done through out. I also really love that he said he cant live without nature. That hit home big time.
This is one of the most creative and well-designed homes I have ever seen. Also, the serenity and practicality of being in the water like that really came through in the video. I love this.
What a GORGEOUS home. I also have to say, the husband is such a BEAUTIFUL SOUL. What a lovely human who appreciates nature, earth, life, and what he has. It's fascinating how life revolves & relies SO MUCH upon water, and this man at his lowest lived, spoke, & cried to the water. The water washed away all his hurts and lows, and brought him renewed life, love, home, heart. Such a amazing spiritual existence to one whom truly is appreciative. They warm my heart. ❤️
I love how they switch between english and french. This couple is amazing, and so is their home. Good vibes there, this was built with love... and most certainly with a lot of hard work.
I would have loved to hear more of this man's story as to how he went from being homeless to owning and affording the full rehab of a barge into a living space. Most of these videos show seemingly carefree individuals and families clearly spending millions to build their homes yet no indication as to how they manage to afford these spaces.
He says he bought it for 11.000 €, that’s much less than a new car. And he seems to have a steady job. He was a homeless when he came to France as a migrant. I guess after learning French he was able to get a job. And his wife says they lived in an apartment before moving to the boat. Apartment prices in Paris are extremely high, so in the end this will be cheaper.
Absolutely stunning, but without knowing Malvy's full story, this video feels incomplete, like a puzzle missing key pieces. I am dying to know how someone from another country, who speaks no French and is homeless, goes from such a dire situation to building a dream boat house. Kirsten, please can you fill us in?
Yes. I agree. I have read the story in the description but it still begs the question, how did he go from sleeping under bridges in Paris to a chain of organic grocery stores and restaurants. I would love to hear that story. Malvy is inspiring.
Oh wow! I liked the husband immediately when he spoke about talking to his plants and that they were a part of the family. But then when revealed his story about how he arrived in France and the challenges he endured----my heart! Wow! I seriously could not wish them more love!
As much as I’m loving this awesome cargo house, I would love to commend the joyful personality of his wife. Personalities like that would definitely made life easier to deal with… Her giggles at the end of each conversation of her is infectious 😆 she’s full of life ❤️
Well - I prefer the more quiet manner of her husband. To much giggling of her - makes me nervous. I find his story quite interesting and the ship with its surrounding as well.
@@AniMerci you know that’s a real person right? Not something one can easily change..I’d be horrified if I were her and read a comment about my voice. Perhaps we can stand to be a bit kinder to one another.

Hearing the man describe his relationship with the river was very touching. I'm happy that these two are the ones who got this boat, I'm sure nobody else could appreciate it the way they do. I love them as much as the boat! They should start a channel about their life, I'd watch.

Of all the great homes you have featured on this channel, this is the most fantastic! What a beautiful life this couple has in this unbelievable home on the water. In Paris!!
I adore their place, perfect location, and all the light and plants. His life made him go for a vision without any limitations. He could reach all. So many of us are limited by our upbringing.
Jérémie is totally amazing in my book. This is a real story of the success of a person who didn't have an education nor money and eventually had the ability to build his own home. Admire, salute and respect.
His story was so beautiful. I’m so happy his dreams came true. When he said he didn’t speak French, and all he had to speak to was the water. I almost cried.
Jeremie's story is so beautiful. His conversations with the river and his plants, is a great teaching. I hope he writes a children's book because his way with words would touch a child's soul. Also, I hope he writes an adult book, telling us about his journey from Pakistan to living under a bridge, and then manifesting his boat-home. He and his wife are a joy.
Thank you to the owners of the houseboat for allowing us to see their beautiful beautiful home! I saw a lot of great ideas, quality craftsmanship and love in this home!!!
It sounds as though his journey in getting to this point in life is as interesting as the home itself. I'd love to hear more about what he does for a living, given the city's wonderful gesture in gratitude.
I had a moment watching this... when you walked into the bedroom behind the kitchen... I felt the cool, experienced the quiet, the coolness in my nostrils. Wow. What a renovation. Can see it took a lot of work and dedication over a long period of time. Definitely a labour of love but well worth it. Congratulations to the owners.
So happy for this adorable couple. I can see why they have to force themselves to leave the boat. The interior decorator & architect did a fabulous job on this project. Absolutely amazing and beautifully made! I'm sure this was a VERY expensive build, but the design, location and the reason for it's construction makes it so much more unique than a multi-bedroom huge house. But to be an cozy quiet place, surrounded by water and nature, feel like you're in a small home and a cruise ship, in the middle of Paris....priceless! I'm actually very curious to see what some of the other houseboats look like inside, to see the contrast.
Amazing story and amazingly beautiful barge home! Jeremie's story is so inspiring... to have come to Paris with literally nothing, not even the ability to communicate and to have build his life from scratch to the beautiful place he is now, with his lovely wife, is the stuff of books and movies, but he really did it. I hope he inspires others with his accomplishments to dream their own dreams and work to make them happen, even if they can't speak the language.
That looks like it cost a fortune but what an amazing transformation and uniquely beautiful home. Also, a fantastic example of upcycling, what might have otherwise been a vessel left to rot.
It does cost a fortune. They completely overhauled the boat, gutted it out, took the engine out, and built a completely new interior, look at that part at 7:50, so many contractors.... Labor ain't cheap anywhere, let alone in a country like France. Also, the owner mentions at the end of the video, that they had to "buy out" someone else's licence. As you can imagine, this will also not be cheap as the amount of places is limited. The end result is beautiful for sure, I wish them all the best and they deserved it.
@@pranuk actually they said other people have to buy out the spots or apply to the city for a spot but the wait is to long to be logical and when questioned on how they got it they admitted that it was political corruption but dressed it up as a positive thing called it a gift from the city for creating jobs when they should have just called it what it was rich people getting to jump the line because they are rich and connected... 🤣
@@timestax did you not hear the parts about how people who used to live in the boats were people who were unable to afford to live otherwise 🤔 that gentrification has obviously taken another place that was previously designed by those who had to find alternative was to live mildly comfortable lives. A few people with money decided that it was cool and they wanted it and they took it from others it's not a new concept it's habitual all across particularly western countries but really everywhere. In this particular case it went even a step farther and they didn't have to apply and wait 25 years nor did they have to pay another person who has their spot to buy it they were given it for free from the city and that means that someone who didn't have the money to buy a spot who has been on the waiting list for 15-20+years and would have gotten that spot didn't. Your implication that it doesn't matter that the system is corrupt because it only is currently having a effect on people who have money is just ridiculous 🙄 this is how the spots have become available on to those who have wealth in the first place and we see that Clearly in their complete openness about the fact that it wasn't so long ago that the spots belonged to the poor, artists, those who couldn't live in the mainstream mostly because of cost and that it is cost prohibitive now because of people who have wealth taking over and that they didn't even have to follow the path that those with moderate wealth have to follow... am I slightly less upset about it because at least he is a person who has experienced poverty and suffering and if anyone should have a taste of corruption at least it was him ya but in truth it's not much better because it was him and it should not be happening at all!

Some people have really suffered in this world and then managed to turn it all around and find their peace. Such a beautiful story. When he talked about the river seeing him cry and confiding all of his thoughts and having an ancient relationship with the river, it made me cry.

I love that the water and the plants are so important to them. It’s not just about material trappings. They truly appreciate and show gratitude. This is truly a work of art.
Right? When you see shining souls, you feel no envy, only joy for them and their plants and environment. Gosh, i wish i had not spent all my savings this past two years… would LOVE to do this!!!!

Love this! The boat is a beautiful home but I also love hearing about Jeremie’s gentle spirit, that shows up in his love for the plants, and in not killing the spider. He is multi talented, truly a special person. I’m impressed that this lovely couple would invite the world into their home. Thank you for the tour.
Merci Karen 🙏
yes, but he did throw the spider into the water.

I don't know what is more astonishing. The couple in the story or Jeremy's creation. The boat is stunning, it's an architectural masterpiece. The part where he just stands peacefully looking out the window is like life's reward to his hard life. He made it, he got there. Kudos!
I felt that, too. Peacefulness is a beautiful feeling.
I don't think I've seen a house on this channel that's more fitted and meant more to its owner. Superb
Lucy, if I may, I'll pray for you and keep you in my thoughts. Much love and take care 🌷
Lucy, Just as Marlene offered, I will pray for you too! If I may. You sound like a beautiful soul.
There seems to be spirituality in the water. It calls to you and listens when you need it the most. I wish you much success and less pain in your journey with cancer. You seem so humble and grateful for the life you have despite all the challenges. All the best 😔💕
get yourself some phoenix tears or make them at home to treat that cancer
And you as well!!

Magical place. I loved Jeremie telling his story and that the boat is essentially a reflection of all of his past desires. Stunning work done through out. I also really love that he said he cant live without nature. That hit home big time.

🙏

Totally agree. Missed opportunity to really hear his story from rags to riches. Totally inspiring couple.
It's in the description. It is a very nice story.
Yes. I agree. I have read the story in the description but it still begs the question, how did he go from sleeping under bridges in Paris to a chain of organic grocery stores and restaurants. I would love to hear that story. Malvy is inspiring.
yes i feel like this belongs in a netflix or prime special with full story
Yeah, that story in the description doesn't even scratch the surface of his journey. So happy for them.
Oh wow! I liked the husband immediately when he spoke about talking to his plants and that they were a part of the family. But then when revealed his story about how he arrived in France and the challenges he endured----my heart! Wow! I seriously could not wish them more love!

Very nice. Nothing bombastic yet light, open and airy. You don’t feel any heavy metal from construction except few doors.
@@pranuk The first thing that came to my mind when I saw it was that I probably can't even afford that glass staircase.
Rich people jumping the line? Everyone there is rich. It's not like he took the spot from the indigent.
