i have a friend who just got a DJI FPV (he came from Mavics) and recently I saw him fly multiple runs directly towards a small group of more friends an pull up just before them (centemetres above their heads). Immediatly walked over and told him "dude, thats 850ish gramms of metal with spinning blades on it flying towards people at ~80 km/h and anything can fail anytime"
My Etiquette Tip is "Honesty Etiquette" be honest when you experience something and share it honestly to the community. Because so much people spend their money according to well known FPV pilots' experiences. Just being honest and fun. Thanks for the video. Loves from Turkey.
I think you covered it all. Well done! What I think is the most important bit though is don't give people a reason to call the cops and/or law makers. Also, communication, communication and more communication. Learn from the military. Those guys talk non-stop and repeat the important bits so that everyone knows what's going on. If you see something important from above that the spotter missed, call it out. "Dog-walker behind the barn." Everyone answers.
Most of the time I fly solo. For a few reasons, but I feel like I get more productive training sessions when I’m solo. I used to fly with a group but it started to feel like I was in high school, in a bad way. Everyone was more worried about everyone else and where they were flying and too arrogant to help other people with tips so I only fly with a couple people now and it’s much better that way!
Make another tip video about how to find suitable flying spot around city. These are becoming scarce due to property development and more people in parks.
thanks for this Tips, really helps me alot. Because im used to flying on my own and now its my 1st time to fly with a group. im afraid of not getting a chance to fly on a epic spot, because most of the pilot are wanting to go fly next. I guess setting up rules in a group would be better, like setting up a queuing to everyone in a group. so others that are shy will have a chance to fly on the spot and not wasting all the efforts to prepare. Thank you Again!.
Thanks for the video! I guess this is really helpfull for beginners and very entertining for the advanced pilots thinking back into some funny situations 😝🙌🏽 One more thing: dont start off your drone full throttle next to someone. If something happens and the kwad goes crazy it will razorblade your buddys face. Ah - Also don't arm your kwad when your friend is holding is in his hands... or is just about to lay it down... 😝
If you *must* absolutely plug-in in the middle of someone else's flight, be sure to announce your frequency and intentions clearly. I've had someone plug in while I was diving a lighting pole by a beach a quarter mile away, which resulted in my FPV feed being hijacked and my quad got dunked in salt water.
In a drone class I've taken the instructor had us tell out "aircraft taking off", "approaching aircraft" "aircraft landing" and "leaving aircraft" as loud as possible so we can be heard several feet away.
Great tips for us newbies. How about posting some of your old beginner videos from when you guys were just getting started. That would be great for us just learning. Thanks.
Drew's channel is actually a great repository of videos. He started posting videos at a pretty high piloting skill level for the time, but you can see him grow more skilled and knowledgeable and also watch the tech available evolve at the same time.
Hey, I'm new and reading all kinds of stuff about requirements for flying. FAA license, register your drone, HAM license... Can you all do an episode that goes over what is required and when something else is required (like registering a drone over 250g)? Thanks
Hi Kenneth, so you really don’t need a FAA license part 107 thats if you are filming & getting paid for the videos. Don’t need to register drone if less than 250grams or .55lbs & not doing part 107 flying. Ham license never heard of that rule but I have one before I got into fpv. Hope your journey of fpv is going great.
@@evanbourgeois6606 maybe you have to be running 4.2 on the latest Configurator for the GUI in the VTX tab, but it seems like it's been a CLI function for a while. It's good, stops the VTX from overheating on the bench or blasting others out of the sky
Darren Allatt I’m running an older f3 board that doesn’t support newer firmware so when I upgrade my fc ill have to figure it out. Today I was flying around my house and I landed on my roof. But I didn’t have the time to get it so it would have been nice for my vtx to go into pit mode so I wouldn’t have to rush what I was doing to get it down. Thank you, it helps a lot knowing this.
I actually quite flying because I don't have a spotter. I got tired of suprises. I tried to get my wife to spot for me but she is useless. I end up telling her about the people I spot
Great vid love me some Rotor Riot, I'm newish to FPV and wish I had me some FPV friends 😭 Lol 😆. Shout out, any mid MI peps in here? I Need someone to fly with.
Today i was flying and suddenly no signal en that thing fell out of the sky battery became unplugged in the air.... and it crashed 2 meters from me from like a 20meter drop so i was super lucky in a unlucky situation
Not the etiquette but will help to avoid being the guy who is always asking to find his drone :) - check props nuts are tight - if crashed but recovered, return and check if everything is ok - old Fatshark google battery can turn off before you can return, be careful with that - always DVR on the googles
And an additional thing: If you`re on fire, call out FIRE, most people will be cool enough to let you go get your model, at least in MOST RC hobbies lol I usually fly alone far away from people anyway, but hey.. I`m also an intruder: PURE LOS FLYER IN YOUR MIDST MUAHAHA!
Pay your parking fees. I fly in a baseball field park that charges 50 cents to park. The $$$ goes to upkeep. If you wanna fly somewhere cool, pay the parking.
Anyone here a pilot in the Sanford, Fl area? Some FPV friends would be great since I’m handicapped and have a hard time flying by myself sometimes lol.
Chase Goodall - look up the Orlando RotoRacers FPV facebook group and also the Orlando FPV Community group on Facebook. Lots of pilots meet up in those groups in your area to find others to fly with. :)
Wholly Mindless , yes. Ted is a good friend of mine. We joke about it today, but, it could have been a very serious problem. We were very lucky that the drone hit him in a way where he wasn’t injured. I definitely learned my lesson, and act way more responsible when flying around other people (except Drew, of course, lol)
@@fossil98 lol its made worse by the fact the pit mode on that transmitter does not work and out puts like 700mw so you nuke the FPV feed by simply switching it on

We refer to the spotter as "Karen Defense"
The karens are everywhere man.
They pop out of bushes
"Honda SUV spotted, 10 o'clock, appears to contain one Karen!"
"Copy that, defense please engage at will."
Unfortunately a spotter can be required for Karen Defense.
Make Karen your spotter. She will keep other nuisances for a mile away.

Love, love, love this video! Thanks for helping a newbie like me know what good etiquette looks like.
Great vid & tips!
I'm a firm believer in all of these tips. I think you've both pretty much have covered it all. Thank you!

if you set a time and you're late, bring the damn donuts :D or if it's an early morning session, bring the coffee :D
In my climate - if you're late then it is already dark and you go home.

This is one reason i wish DJI would have an affordable monitor solution for other people to watch.
Any other goggles with hdmi output to a big screen will do the same

How do you find other people to fly with ?
My personal etiquete tip is bring snacks when your out there all day you get hungry so just bring snacks for everyone
I was always thought ch 8 was the public channel on DJi

How about asking permission before we plug in our quad?

When fill FPV goggles be more immersive like the HTC VIVE ?
We (Most of us) actually don't enjoy a huge FOV. It's better to have a smaller FOV so you can see everything without moving your eyes around
