  • So the Dallas Mavericks have brought back veteran PG Spencer Dinwiddie on a one year deal that has the ability to really put them over the top in the regular season into a top 3 seed. Dinwiddie played for the Mavericks in 2022-2023 and was a huge part of their team and playoff run that year. If he can return to that form he will be a huge pickup for the Mavericks going forward.

    Anytime a team exceeds someone’s expectations, they tend to falsely blame the other teams for not living up to what they should have done. It’s basically saying “I wasn’t wrong, the other team just didn’t do what they were capable of.” That type of take is just a prime example of our personal bias. You don’t beat a team convincingly 4-1 without being the better team. Had the Mavs started the season with Gafford and Washington, They may have won 54-58 games and no one would have questioned the Mavs run to the finals. Dallas was simply the best team in the West last year.

    • @fastbreakreport
      @fastbreakreport  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They were the best team in the second half of the season last year....lets not get it twisted. Were the Pacers the best team in the East last year? No but they made the ECF. I just don't think Dallas makes it out of the first round if Kawhi plays more than two games....I'm allowed to have that opinion even if you don't agree with it.....it happens every year where a team makes further than they probably should have.

  • @coltondodd3086
    @coltondodd3086 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I’m only a few minutes in to the video but I wanted to comment this before forgetting to. You keep saying you weren’t sold on the mavs and that you felt they were a bit lucky like the pacers run to the ecf. I think this doesn’t take into account that Luka is going to be the best player in any series the mavs play besides jokic. Here’s the catch. Yes kawhi was injured and didn’t really play BUT Luka was damn near playing at 20-40% the whole series. There’s not really an argument to be made imo that the mavs got “lucky” against the clips. Kidd is notorious for losing game one’s because he likes to experiment and see what doesn’t work. Then the mavs blew the other game badly that the clips won right at the end. OKC was the only team to really be a tough out. Anyways, The mavs have two all nba talents in luka and kai and now the depth to match. I just don’t see how you could still look at the wolves or grizzlies as a real threat to the mavs. OKC and New Orleans are the teams to fear other than the mavs in the west, and maybe denver idk.

    how did dallas get lucky other than kawhi being injoured like every other year? but yea we got so lucky that luka was injoured for the whole playoffs 💀... + dallas defense does not rely on 1 on 1 defense at all so that means 2 things that can be both bad and great: n1 they can still play elite defense even w/o djj, n2 as soon as they lose focus during the season they could revert back to being one of the worst defenses for stretches of the year. with that being said i have dallas still over both denver (i dont trust their rookies to step up and take the kcp role) and Minessota (the only thing different from last year would be a rookie pg playing the back up pg and ,even tho i love Rob, but that series was nearly a sweep meaning that altough some games were close the teams were not close lets be real now)... not having okc as the best team in the west would be a complete dumb thing to do BUT what i can 100% say is that adding hartestein and caruso does not affect THAT MUCH the series against dallas where i can still see ways where dallas could win the series... i dont even expect hartestein playing at all against dallas simce the thing that gave dallas problem was the 5 out offence

    Totally agree. Even without Brunson--Dinwiddie averaged 24ppg in his last 11 games with the Mavericks in early 2023 before the Irving trade. He is not only a spot up catch and shoot 3 pointer and facilitator. Anybody who thinks that never watched him. He has a very effective transition 3 pointer, step back 3, side-step 3, fade away 3 at thr end of the shot clock, GWing shots, driving and dunking on big (Gobert, Embid, Chet, many others), fearless, assist man, thrives with the ball in his hands. This is a guy who should be making a ton of money and the Mavs somehow got him for way less all due to the lakers misusing/icing him out. Huge signing and totally agree I never liked the Mavs trading him away.

    Wow Timberwolves are overrated as hell. They will be a borderline top 4 team in the west at best. They are a below avg offense, and their defense is still heavily predicated on Gobert, whose value is elevated in the regular season and reduced in the playoffs due to his obvious exploitable weaknesses. OKC is miles better than them, they will have a top 5 offense again and might have the number 1 defense in the NBA next season.

    your sounding like spencer is a godsent, he's been ass after dallas stint. and there's a reason why he still a free agent before this, and you keep saying dallas gave up spencer for kyrie well infact dallas got a deal with that one turns out it worked out for them as a major steal, and spencer on dallas was good before but also didn't get that far as they need brunson which he is gone, probably reason spence back in dallas cuz his career is free falling downwards and dallas gave him a chance to be with them on a 1 year deal. imo the dallas works this one out is not about spencer playing well but if they have that chemistry same as last year.
