Great vid Calv. I owned one of these for a 18 months. Incredible car, surprised me every day, sticks to the road at high speeds with that LSD, it’s quick enough to make you smile, and the noise never gets old. Hyundai got it right with this one
Got to admit I was not overly impressed with the numbers this car put out when I first saw it, but it's a car you definitely need to drive to appreciate. I ended up buying one and loving it for 2 years. I moved on with a promotion from work and got myself an m2. I'll always love the n30 though.
extending seats were factory in the Ford Series 1 RS turbo....they were circa 1985
I like how when you put it into reverse the wing mirrors point down at the wheels to prevent curbing 👌🏻

At 7:20, the shot seems to clearly show a difference in paint between the rear bumper and the rest of the car. It’s super clear to see if watching in night shift mode on screen.
Would this something that is being looked at when repairing the rear or not visible in person?

Seeing as I've driven both the fk2 and i30n i can honestly say that its a great little car but the conering is nowhere near as confidence building as the civic and when stock the hyundai is not the same . But im not discrediting it as a good car because it is ,the fk2 is just on a whole different level

You have to take your hat off to think Honda had so many generations of Civic to hone the car to get that Type R to that level and Hyundai just rocked up with the N as it’s first proper hot hatch ( I don’t count the Veloster Turbo as a proper one and we didn’t get the Veloster N version). They definitely changed my opinion and it’s a shame they won’t really get to continue to build on the I30 as a proper Civic rival with it all going electric where it’s no sound, no emotion and one monotonous, gearless drive train.
@buck3366 i agree, although they do base their i30 chassis on the ford fiesta. both porsche and toyota are trying to make hydrogen/synthetic fuel in a combustion engine more cost-effective so the ICE isn't out of the game yet. The N vision gt i saw at goodwood festival of speed sounded fantastic as it has a hydrogen powered generator

Recently got rid of my i30N. Loved the car to pieces, didn't have to modify it at all and it was still a great car

What was the fuel consumption like?
@@maddisonwhitfield6157 20-30 mpg on my daily commute on mostly dual carriageways. But you defo don’t buy an i30N for fuel economy haha.
Did some longer trips from Essex to Manchester for example takes about a tank and a half on a good run

Im not realy a car guy ive just bought a Toyota prius 1.8 RS VVTI ESX ,Thats what the badges say on boot , the seller said its quick . 0 to 60 5.2 top speed limited to 155mph ,thats what the seller said to me . He said it dynoed at 365 bhp, not driven it yet ,he,s brinking it tomorrow .

The only comment on the brand is the lack of dealership support like you would a BMW as our car was in the garage for a month for a sensor and it came back so dirty burnt in tree sap on a mat finish so not great and not the first time,,but a great car

You’ve set up the custom mode spot on there Cal, steering and suspension in normal but everything else in sport+ 👍
Basically Albert Biermann was responsible for the best BMW M division cars, then he went to Hyundai to start the N division. N standing for Nurburgring because that’s where they did a lot of development for the i30N, as well as Namyang (place in South Korea where Hyundai are based)
You never tried launch control and don’t for get new they have a five year warranty
What tyre shine do you guys use at the yard? My poor boys is dull compared
Dunno what calv uses but I used gummi by stjarnagloss, works on all the plastic trims too, cracking stuff👌🏼autoglym instant tyre dressing is good too

Be good to see you in an I20N they are supposed to be a proper little bit of kit. The only downside Ive heard with the I30N is they are shocking on fuel and the 8 speed DCT auto facelift is worse still surprisingly on the plus side it has got quicker changes and a slightly bigger turbo. An M140i with 2 more cylinders batters it for MPG, in fact that B58 is insane what it can get on a motorway run. Other than that though the I30N have always got a glowing review and I think they are great cars for the spec and price.
I've owned a M140i and currently own a I30N.
There is no doubt that the B58 in the 140i is a masterpiece but the car and chassi isn't sorted. It feels nervous at 60% and with an open doff it's always trying to kill you.
The 140i is much faster on a run, but the I30N would annihilate it in the twistys.
The I30N has not been developed for rolling races it's a track focused road car that provides as much feedback as my previous Civic Type R FK2. I sold my Leon Cupra 290 for an I30N, and that tells you a lot.

@@mudguardrider8211 I’ve seen the track ability of the Hyundai and seen it was faster than an S3 ( 300ps) on a track test if I recall. The M140s have been constantly given negatives about it’s lack of LSD and floaty ride. I did look at a Championship Edition with the factory diff and hear that Birds suspension absolutely transforms the car into something far more capable.
