    One thing to remember: Fuji will tweak the AF with future firmware updates, improving things like Eye AF and subject tracking.. with most other manufacturers you basically get no further improvements with firmware updates, you need to wait for the next camera if want better performance. Fun fact: on the X-T3 you can now update the firmware through the remote app, you don't need to download and put it on a SD card.

    At first I was quite shocked when you two left the CamerastoreTV, but now I have to admit that your reviews got even better with the dpreview-team. Always balanced, never biased like some of the other review channels out there, constructive criticism and at least as entertaining as before. Kudos for your work and I hope to see many more excellent reviews in the future! Thank you guys! :)

    Great review but I think you should have mentioned 3 things
    - how competitive the price is
    - the quality of the Fuij lenses and their affordability is a big plus
    - the fact this camera can shoot 30 FPS burst, never seen before in that type of camera.

      Wouldn't exactly call their lenses affordable. Sure, its mostly cheaper than full frame, but a 50 mm lens goes for a lot less with Canon or Nikon than Fuji. (other than that and the small batteries i am very happy with my X-T2)

      Guys... they're basically similar price, size and weight as the FF equivalents. For example, compare the 56mm f/1.2 R to a Sony 85mm f/1.8. You'll notice similar size, image quality, weight, DoF, etc. Compare all the lenses if you want... I've already done it with many lenses, they're all in the same ballpark. However, also keep in mind that the Sony 85mm f/1.8 will snap into focus so much faster and silently compared to the 56mm.

    My wife and I just photographed a wedding this past weekend and I just bought her a new xt2 for $1111. Now coming from my xe1, we loved the colors and how it would render pictures so much. I can't believe the upgrade from the first generation, I was telling her It's crazy to think that the xt3 is considered even faster autofocus because the xt2 is already damn good! I love Fuji! Thanks Chris and Jordan for the review! Any wooden nichols episodes in the near future?

    I lived in Canada for 12 years, and my fondest memories come from the 2 years I spent in Calgary... Including doing the live sound for Grammy Award winner Donald Ray Johnson at the National Music Centre. This was before Studio Bell, though, in the building they shared across the street. I'm shooting whith the X-T3 for a week now. Which takes the X-T3 apart from the X-T2 is not only the sensor and the amazing autofocus system but the collection of all the small but worthful improvements. Maybe this one area which reviewers can't state about because they're no daily users. One big improvement for me is the maximum magnification while reviewing images another is the use of the sensor of the viewfinder while the selection the viewing possibilities. Also the different haptic of the knobs anfd the joystick is striking.

      Jochen Hinrichs-Stöldt That was exactly my feeling going from the a6000 to the a6300. On paper it was easy to reduce the difference to 4K shooting, but all the little things added up to a totally overhauled experience. You make a good point for people looking at both the older and current Fuji’s.

    One thing I noticed with the X-T3 is that in ES mode under artificial lights, there is no banding at all, or at least I haven't experienced any yet. Banding was a huge problem with the X-T2 and this improvement means you can now shoot in silent mode, anywhere. It is also much much much better than the A7III in this aspect (which I also own), and it makes the X-T3 a great street photography camera. The mechanical shutter is already really quiet and the electronic shutter is even better. I am really looking forward to use the X-T3 in my upcoming Tokyo trip and in the Japanese culture, it is best to be quiet and not disturb other people.

    • @Thezftw
      @Thezftw 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really comes down to your shutter speed. Match your shutter speed to the local electricity network (1/50th or 1/60th of a second or a multiple of those) and you shouldn't experience banding with most cameras.
      Tokyo is 50hz.

    • @adomolis

      x-t2 slightly improved banding issues after update 4.10, so its not as bad.

      Tim Chan I've never found shutter sound to bother anyone in street photography, even on my DSLRs. Once the shot's been taken (and you captured the 'natural' moment) who cares if someone then notices you? You already have the shot.

    Very nice video guys. Video production, acting, and now music skills? Jordan is a renaissance man! ;) I had a X100F for a while, but with the not-so-great video AF I eventually decided to trade it in because I needed the cash for something more versatile. The X-T3 shows me that I can consider the next revision of the X-H line because like you were saying it should have the flip screen and in camera shake reduction.

    I hope Fujifilm won’t introduce a flip out screen to the X-T line. A flip out screen is only good for video/vlogging but for photography it’s only annoying with a flip out screen. A tilting screen like on the X-T3 is way better for photography in my opinion. They can put a flip out screen on the X-H line though.

    • @Gynra
      @Gynra 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I so agree with you. One of the troubles with TH-cam is that the people putting out the videos are vloggers so most want a flip out screen, and they assume everyone does. I dislike them, and I hope camera manufacturers aren't too swayed by their clamour. The cheapskate vloggers should get an external monitor if they are that concerned about seeing themselves... or use a mirror.

    • @dasaauto2024
      @dasaauto2024 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best vlogging camera is a phone or a GoPro. Period.
      Those teenage selfie screens do not belong on real cameras costing over a $1,000. It’s reason #500 the EOS R looks like a complete joke.
      And shooting a vlog 2 1/2 feet from your face is probably the very last situation where a large sensor is flattering, and also the hardest type of position for it to perform correctly.

      I doubt. Everybody is signaling at Fuji to release XH2 ASAP so the xh1/xt3 generational fiasco does not repeat again. On top of that Fuji knows that to be a contender for a huge portion of the market they need IBIS in their camera offerings and nobody is gonna buy XH1 anymore. I think next spring is the time when we shoud see XH2 that would mark a 1 year cycle from XH2.

      My guess would be that there may be an X-H10 with a vari-angle GH-style screen, rather than in the X-H2, as Fuji tend to sustain chassis, sensor and processor sets for economies of scale (i.e. cheaper cameras for the market)

    Also would love to see a high bit rate for video comparison between the A73 and the XT3. A lot of people will cite liking the full frame "look" in the new age of pixel peeper-mania, but I really need to see how the Sony's 100mb/s bit rate versus the Fuji's 400mb/s (plus all color modes and log) play out in both the acquisition state and for coloring in post.

      The Sony lenses are small for full frame. Sure you can get big zoom lenses but there are plenty of small lenses. My most used combo is a 35mm f2.8 Sony and 85mm f1.8. Can cover anything with that and it’s light and small, yet powerful. Loxia 21mmm 2.8 looks good too

    • @cooloox
      @cooloox 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Marco Polio The image quality, especially in terms of graininess (lack thereof) , makes carrying those bigger lenses so worthwhile. I don't shoot Sony, but I'd never step backwards from an A7iii to an X-T2. That high ISO grain is really bad, especially considering that Fuji overstates its ISOs in the first place. I'm waiting for the Canon FF mirrorless 'pro' model to be announced later this year. If it's no good I'll stick to DSLRs. I prefer a larger camera anyway as I have very large hands.

    Switched from x-t20 to X-T3 great difference in controls customization ergonomics and the IQ. Use 16mm (perfect for night & street photography) , 10-24, 18-55, 50mm very satisfied with the results and the ease to use. I do also use 5DM4, and 80D but that’s a totally different story :)))

    Still not convinced about the eye AF.
    It jumps wildly around the iris, but hardly any time hits the iris. In this video where the eye AF is shown in action, it is as evident as in any other video I have seen on the eye AF.
    This is still different to sony, where their eye AF sticks to the iris consistently, rather than jumping around it.
    I'd expect from the X-T3's jumping pattern, that the X-T3 eye AF will hit a lot the eyebrow or whatever else it jumps onto next to the iris.
    So, it won't be an advantage over face detect, when it comes to not nailing the focus on the iris.

      Shoot the camera before drawing that conclusion. Often with Fuji the actual focus in AF-C is much better than the feedback you get on the screen/EVF would suggest.

      CWard Exactly. This is what happens when people buy everything online. Decisions are made off of review videos (these guys being a rare example of competence). People buy what they think they need, and when they realize their “guess” was incorrect, they double down on their fanboy rage. It’s a bit of a shame, actually.

    • @tubularificationed
      @tubularificationed 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reviews are to show you how bad something is, to avoid that you make that experience as well.
      Of course we (and vloggers) know that pointing out even obvious deficits create quite a fanboy rage. That's natural, but fanboy rages don't influence my conclusions. I'm selfish enough that I want the best for my money and am glad for any reviews which reveal "either wait until Fuji arrived at industry standards there, or go somewhere else".
      I don't know yet which option to go for. I'm abandoning the X-T3 because of their eye AF substandard. However, with the H2 I'll given them a 2nd (but final) chance to get it right this time.

    Fuji I LOVE your flip SCREEN concept! They have in my opinion the best flip screen arrangement on the marked. Makes high/low photo a breeze compared to the Panny/Oly/Canon idea where you have to flip it all the way out before rotating etc which makes you miss the moment. 100% cudos to Fuji here. This vlogging-thingy is just for a few users compared to the large amount of photographers out there.

    I went into my local camera store to check out the X-e3 but had a look at the X-T3 as well. Have to say i was very impressed with the feel, layout and how bright and large the view finder was (I wear glasses) plus the price with lens was competitive. Now I’m not sure what to do, I wanted something smaller and lighter than my current DSLR, an old Canon 40D, and sure the X-T3 is smaller and lighter but I was looking for something with a simple, less cluttered layout. I also like the flip out screen (wish the X-e3 had that) the flip out to the right I think is for portrait use, an interesting idea.
    I got the X-E3 in the end I’m very happy with it.

    I especially like your guys' production values, composition and sound. Your voices are soothing yet not boring. I detest those "pukers" we hear so often in videos, trying to hype everything as if the world's about to end.
    As to the camera, it seems nice, but I guess I can stick with my Canon EOS M-6.

    Hello. I understand new firmware got released for the X-T3 to enhance autofocus. Does that now match the Sony system?
    With the X-T4 coming out soon, I'm expecting this price to drop a bit for the X-T3. Might be now the perfect camera for me to consider.

    A camera is only one thing. I bought my first "real" camera two weeks ago (xt3) so I looked up maaany videos on youtube. But everybody was most time speaking about either the body or the lenses. So I came of course to the conclusion that the Sony A73 is still the king in the market. But when I compared (body and lense) the size and weight of the Sony full frame with the Fuji Apsc I realized that FullFrame is not for me (non professional shooter).
    Love your videos anyway.... so keep up the great work

    • @buddyWalrus
      @buddyWalrus 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dirk M if you ever go professional, the Sony will still be there. The Fuji is a god of a camera for enthusiasts, and much easier to walk around with than a Sony body with a GM lens. I bring my Xt2 to dinner with the family all the time. The size convenience cannot be overstated.

    4k60 ;) @6:44 BEAUTIFUL shot. I don't care much about convincing other people fuji is so great but I gotta say there's something about shadow falloff that just separates itself from other cameras I've used. Definitely a gallery worthy shot...the composition is like a painting incredible. I really hope you saved that raw. Would be great to see a re-review of new FW changes after a7 comes out. Cant wait till IBIS & Z-like battery are a thing

    At 10:28 the GH5 footage has more dynamic range in both the shadows and with better separation of the three acrylic hanging lights. If the Fuji has 12 stops of DR, the GH5 has 13 here.
