RIP mate. Watching you bowl all those ripping leg breaks has been one of my best cricketing memories and I will proudly say that I am contemporary to two of the legends of the game Sachin and you. I am ever so grateful to God for giving me opportunity to watch you greats in live action. Your memories are not going to fade away anytime soon brother. Like your ball of the century, you will stay in our hearts for eternity.

Amazing cricketer and bloke. Shane was the most important cricketer of all time by a mile. Leg spin bowling is the most noble human trait since archery in the Middle Ages (cricket is a castle defence game) It’s poetic, skilful and lethal. We need these people as a tribal species. We took him for granted while he was here. RIP.

@tanthaman: Murali might have got more wickets. That too in subcontinental pitches but not a match winner on big ocassions. If you’ve watched warne at 1996 semi finals and 1999 semifinals and finals you’ll have a gist of who warne was. Moreover, he took most of his wickets with a great Australian bowling lineup of Mcgrath, Gillespie, Lee and Fleming were also on the scene. Also he is a great leader as evident by his leadership in helping an IPL franchise to win the cup. Murali is great coz of his milestones but Warne is ETERNAL coz of his legacy

I remember the first training session I ever had with a local under-16s team. After a bit of practice in the nets (which was utterly terrifying as some older guys from the local team were bowling full pace at us with Brett Lee-style run-ups) we went out to the field and set up a quick game just for fun. As I was the new guy they made me bowl to our best batsman first. I was nervous but somehow let go a simply perfect off spinner that floated in the air from the middle of the pitch to outside off stump, then darted back in and took out the middle stump of the poor guy, who looked shocked as the rest of the team laughed at him. I felt like Shane Warne bowling to Gatting😆
That was my peak cricket moment, I sucked otherwise lol

I can still remember as a kids we would all stop what we where doing and sit down and watch warnie in awe. I gave up pace for spin after watching him. Everyone wanted to be a leg spinner after watching Shane smash wickets. Though I never met him I feel like Aussie is a little less Aussie with out him but reckon he was a top bloke and larrikin from seeing alot of footage. Thanks Warnie for everything your legacy will live on in the youngsters who see your clips and take up the spin. You are a bloody legend and a top bloke who Captivated a nation and the world. I can't say that I'm an avid cricket fan, and certainly not a supporter of Australia, but I was always mesmerised watching Shane Warne bowl. As I watch this and other videos, I see the ball travel towards the wicket and wonder how on earth it can pass the batsman and hit the wicket.
Even seasoned batsmen who knew what Shane was capable of were tricked by his fantastic bowling. You can see the expressions of some of the batsmen that he bowls, just after the wickets have been hit.
RIP Shane - you were the only cricketer that I ever enjoyed watching and whose skill I could really appreciate. What a sad loss.

watched him once in a charity match- he was miked up, he described his first ball to the batsmen, then said something like he noticed how the batsmen moved and that a googly should be able to get him, he bowled it on the second ball and bowled the batsmen out. A very intelligent bowler.
