Watched every ball of this match when it aired live on DD National . Those were the best days of cricket to be honest . Kumble , Srinath , Venky , Sachin , Saurav , Dravid , VVS , Shewag , Azhar, Yuvraj - That was the golden era to me as teenage boy.

Those jumps getting into the delivery stride, the pinpoint accuracy, just enough turn to find the outside edge, the aggression, the commitment. Wow. What a player he was! He could even adjust to the dynamics of the T20 cricket during the first 3 years of the IPL.

Those days for the sake our studies, our father did not allow cable tv connection. So i watched this match from a neighbouring home, they wanted to switch off, but i requested them to allow me till the end. They graciously allowed and Kumble's India heroically won. Now 25 years gone by, memories still fresh !

@@stuartmartin2615 shane warne was ineffective in asia,, its not surprising that players don't do well outside of their home conditions. Shane used bounce to take wickets while kumble used his skiddy action which works well on asian pitches not so much outside where there is no deceptive pace.
Fun fact, after Kumble took 7th wicket, even other Indian bowlers started bowling wide of the batsmen just to let Kumble take all 10 wickets.

We were amazing and my dad told he got all 10 wickets. On another side Javagal Srinath had tried with wide balls to not to take any wickets. Great memory. Anil Kumble's name wrote on World History. All ten wickets with pure judgement.

I can forget myself but can never forget this outstanding and historical performance of kumble! I was very young at that time. Used to dream about playing from indian side! Remained dream only! Now we got another kumble in the form of R Ashwin!
I still remember this day! I was 9 years old. Few hours into the morning my family planned a trip but I wanted to stay back for the match and prayfor India's victory. Kumble had already taken a couple of wickets and looked deadly. However, my dad convinced me to come along by saying "don't worry, Kumble will take 10 wickets" we all laughed on the way out but 😮my dad had the last laugh 😅 we still joke about what would have happened if my dad placed a bet!
