    I had the best game I've ever had in magic playing this deck last night. It was in plat and the opponent was playing a Teferi, Narset, Ashiok Esper control deck with lots of removal.
    The game went to the wire. The opponent had an answer to everything I did, but I was able to keep cycling two Fae of Wishes with my one remaining Fires and answer his threats too. I was down to my last 10 cards and the game had been going for at least 30 minutes. I decided to pull Jace out of the sideboard because my opponent was banking on me getting milled. I'm pretty sure though that he was holding an answer to Jace in his hand and was keeping mana open for it. It looked like I was going to put Jace down last second only for him to remove it or counter it immediately.
    I used this to my advantage though. I instead decided to go full on aggro with my remaining few turns. Cycling the Fae meant I was burning through cards fast. I put down Garruk and started making wolves. The opponent ignored these as he had more than enough health to deal with the 2/2s. With only 3 cards left and him now with Dream Trawler on the board, I pulled out Chandra, burnt one of the wolves, ulted Garruk and trampled his ass down with about 6 wolves. I think he was so focused on Jace that he hadn't been worried about Garruk.
    I was absolutely buzzing after the game. Best game I've played.

      With triple black in his casting cost, and with the rest of the deck as Jeskai? He’s much better in the sideboard where you can effectively guarantee that if you Granted for him you can immediately cast him off the same fires.

    True Love's Kiss, although overall a weak card, is great for a Fires wishboard. Sure it costs 4 mana to exile an artifact or enchantment, but (if you have Fires down) your 4 mana is covered, and you get to draw a card as a bonus...

      Casualties of war is always going to be better with fires as long as you have 6 mana, seeing as how it kills BOTH, AND creature, and PW, and land. If you turn 4 fires, fae, the soonest you can kill anything with the kiss would be turn 5, so it's going to be better to wait 1 more turn to CoW in 99% of situations.

  • @JJMcGlock
    @JJMcGlock 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This is a great version of the deck, I see your having fun with planeswalkers. I personally run a similar version with 2 Karn, 1 Kashmina, 1 Scion, 1 saheeli, and a few other changes. Consistently goes 7-2 in Bo1 Standard events.

    Hey CGB, what do you mean by "thining" the deck ? If I understand correctly Fabled Passage shuffles your whole deck so everything you scry to the bottom goes back into the deck, right ? So when do you decide what's a good and a bad time to use it ? And when is it good and bad thining ?
    I think I've heard you talk about this on 3-4 videos before but lately I've been confused.

    • @danbemp
      @danbemp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He means using passage to fetch basic lands out of your deck and onto the battlefield, slightly decreasing the chance you will draw lands for the rest of the game

    • @mariaszegedy6044
      @mariaszegedy6044 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not CGB, but: by "thinning" the deck, he means removing cards from it that he doesn't want to draw. In most cases, what he doesn't want to draw is land. Fabled Passage takes a land out of your deck, so generally it should "thin" your deck in that sense. But if you've scryed lands to the bottom of your deck, then when Fabled Passage cracks, it will shuffle your deck, and put those lands from the bottom back where you can draw them.
      So if you have one land at the bottom, Fabled Passage neither improves your draws nor makes them worse, because it takes one land out and puts another land back in. And if you have two lands, like in this video, it makes your draws worse, because while it does take out one land, it puts two more back in to your deck.

    • @jameslopes6918
      @jameslopes6918 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hate tefari with a passion. The 3 mana planeswalker is broken but just broken enough that it doesn't get banned but basically gives control players such a huge advantage that they consistently win vs other decks. Any card that replaces itself, places your opponent a turn behind and eliminates the ability to respond to stack shouldn't exist for 3 mana.

  • @andesmountain9178
    @andesmountain9178 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey CGB- I’m wondering if you’ve given thought to having 3 fires maindecked and 1 in the wishboard for fae. That way you have virtually 7 copies and will get to it sooner. If not, what makes you choose to main all 4?

    • @JJMcGlock

      I tried the 3 and 1 for a bit, but found that if I ever needed to use fae to fetch fires on turn 4 I was dead by turn 5, or too far behind to catch up.
