- Ford's Lommel Proving Ground in Belgium features miles of special test track with all manner of potholes and damaged surfaces to mirror the worst public roads.
Ford engineers use an array of methods to determine the suspension requirements of vehicles and ensure they are met and, as always with Ford products, the demands of the customer are the main focus.

This testing facility has apparently been extended to cover the whole of Belgium.
Don't worry, not just Belgium, most cities in Europe
So that's why my roads in my city looked like that, they were testing cars all along. Silly me, I thought they were lazy and didn't really care about fixing the roads, when it was actually a test for the cars.
They don't need that facility in Belgium, normal roads look like that anyway.
Eastern bloc nations see these roads as an improvement
It’s bullshit. Poland and Czech Republic for example have now one of the best roads in tnę EU now.

Those baby potholes are nothing compared to these ones in Detroit Michigan during winter months. Worst roads in the world here. Not over exaggerating.

These roads are average in Australia. Its shocking. Their idea of fixing pot holes is to just fill them with gravel and a tiny bit of bitumen. So you get flying bits of gravel everywhere! Stone chips, paint chips, chipped windscreens galore!
These Potholes looks so tiny in comparison to the impact craters that we have here in India 😁

all I can say is I have never changed the shocks on my 2000 Ford Focus, they are surely tired at 170000 kms, and not a single rattle evident in the car.
I will buy another Ford because of this maybe not a Focus this time too large, but a Fiesta is on the cards.

I have also a 2001 220 000km driven Toyota Corolla with all original suspension components, still drives quite well and passed has passed annual inspections
Consider it sending here in india. Be rest assured apart from Suspension, stability, braking performance, rigidity, NVH, electronics, rear passenger comfort etc will also get thoroughly checked and mortal remains of the car will be sent back for further future improvements! All the best ford.

Don't know about Fiestas but I drive a 2007 focus and it takes potholes of Greek roads like a champ.Nothing rattles even when falling in potholes and my back is quite happy.For a German car Focus is quite impressive suspension wise.
come to serbia to test it.. that would be real test of durability...for example toyota and some other manufacturers don't give a garancy for their cars because of the roads

For pothole testing you can just come to India and test, even after new roads are laid u could find potholes, u are always welcome.

lmao "it's their thing"...rendering your vehicle useless in many real-life scenarios because you want to rice it out? No one daily drives a drag car. And so would no one turn his normal car into a drag car and then drive it everywhere. People buy daily drivers, cars that are not meant to be raced, add ridiculous modifications and then take them to public roads, which ist just blatant nonsense, even if you consider it a hobby.

Sosnowiec, Poland is a decent area for suspension testing. There are no flat roads at all. But The Man who will find one, ONE HIDDEN good surface, will live long, untill he dies...

@frankzen1941 Dude, it won't do a better test. What they need is scientific control and more time to develop their cars, which is not breaking the suspension of a prototype on public road ;) It is hard a bit to have a great control over a set of condition on the 108 with the moronic traffic and farmers and all... On a little track like that, there is a higher control over some condition and you could literally pass 1000 times in a day on the exact same pot hole.

Ironically, if they didn't test the cars for this, the cars would be damaged, forcing governments to maintain road surfaces.
In india, we have this kind of road every where. Its very difficult to find a smooth road.

I hit one at 60mhp my car dropped 8" it bent the shock broke my drive shafted bent and crack my front wheel and shred a tyre and bent the rear wheel £2500 to fix it

How do you come to that conclusion? I worked with Simon and developed the first customer data recorders back in the 1990s, he has driven over many types of road throughout the world.

Why the hell are they doing this testing in Europe? All I got to do is drive 3 hours North through Grand Rapids Michigan. And there is every type of pothole imaginable. Everything from chips in the road, to freaking blast craters from artillery shelling. But it's okay, because we spend our money on trees.
Illinois roads are literally worse than their pothole test track..
If I go to any outer countries ,The first thing I will do is buy a ford , because in India there is no service centeres .
