  • In this video I take a look at the MK1 Audi S3 whilst trying to put my own spin on things, by attempting to ask the question 'has the MK1 Audi S3 had its day?'.
    First released in 1999, the MK1 S3 was the flagship hot-hatch for audi - fast forward more than 20 years and how does it stack up today? You'll have to watch the above to find out!
    As always, massive thank you to OEM Plus UK for the car. Links to all of our socials below.

    Keep in mind that these cars came with a micro turbo. Once you bolt on a hybrid turbo or tweek it for big turbo.. then this chassis becomes a monster and will keep up or surpass these newer hot hatches 👌

      Taswell Barthus I don’t doubt. It’s the perfect base to be modified. It’s a very capable car/chassis to build upon, especially with the Quattro!

    I had one in South Africa in 2003, mine was in a dark metallic emerald green color, after a few minor mods it was an absolute weapon, nothing could keep up on a twisty piece of tarmac...sadly the car hi-jacking syndicates in South Africa had shopping lists as long as a mans arm for the S3 and mine was taken away from me at gun point...

      you have often rust on the roof and doors
      the engine is great but has often problem that he losses horsepower
      you need to fix the turbo system etc

    21 years old s3 quattro classic 1.8t 2002 can't be put against the new generation of today's vehicles, you will have to get 2018 and above for the comparison bhp, but if forge engine with supporting mods and G25-550 now it will move and this is why people use the audi tt for it's aerodynamics through the air

      Christopher Gower not a real drivers car and handles not too good But the engine is a masterpiece Cosworth developed
      Mine is running 490bhp and 517lbft torque with Bilstein PSS9 coilovers, H&R arbs, Wagner Intercoolers, B7 RS4 brakes, braided lines, upgraded fuel pump, ITG panel filter, Milltek full dual 3”inch exhaust and MRC remap
      Had 50k miles on the clock when I bought it from Tonbridge Audi in 2006 now has 209k

    • @ChristopherGower
      @ChristopherGower  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What a spec! sounds like a really nice build. It's interesting that you picked this up at Tonbridge, I actually live not far from there. If you're still in the area it would be interesting to meet some time - even film a video on your car!? If not i'm sure i'll spot it out on the open road at some point.

    it actually is not that heavy to be a 2000's AWD car. at 1375Kg stock mind you, it is not that heavy.

    • @ChristopherGower
      @ChristopherGower  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps in hindsight it's not all that heavy. It's probably due to the AWD and the driving dynamic that this creates which is not something I am overly familiar with. I actually prefer RWD or even FWD for 'fun' - but AWD has it's perks too. Still an amazing car either way.
