Snetterton Track Day 2024 - Renault vs Honda
We’ve been to Snetterton 3 times now, and I’ve filmed every single time but never uploaded. Finally I’ve uploaded a video!
Snetterton is a great track, with one of the longest straights in the UK and nice mix of swooping bends and sharp corners.
The Cup was mega fun, even if it left me wanting a little more poke. A diff and some stickier tyres would certainly help with pace, but it was still a brilliant day all the same.

Spa-Francorchamps is the best trackday experience you can do
มุมมอง 2353 หลายเดือนก่อน
Back in April, a group of us travelled to Belgium to take on the legendary track that is Spa-Francorchamps. Having done a handful of tracks in the UK, including Donnighton, Brands Hatch, and Snetterton, expectations for the legendary F1 circuit were high. Due to its popularity, there are a limited number of opportunities for public trackdays. This video is a montage of the footage I captured, i...

An update on the 172 Cup restoration
มุมมอง 3523 หลายเดือนก่อน
As I've done such a poor job of documenting the progress on the 172 Cup resto, I figured I would just do a simple update on the car, using some of the footage from the build. The plan is to do a few more detailed videos where I can talk about what I did, step by step, as I've got hours of footage that details the underside prep, before and afters, etc. Cheers for watching. Restoring an Old RenaultSport 172 Cup
มุมมอง 79810 หลายเดือนก่อน
So, last year, after turning the 200 into a full-blown track car, I decided that I didn't like the car all that much after all. It was good, but it wasn't exciting (to me at least), so I sold it. Like many 1*2 owners, I found myself wanting another. They're like boomerangs in that sense. This is the first of the restoration process.

Testing My Clio 200 Track Car at Brands for the First Time

So, after fitting the cage and the bucket seats in the previous video, Josh, Jack, myself and Harry headed to do our first track day of the year at Brands Hatch. We booked the Indy circuit and only had an evening slot, but this was ample time to test the car and try and get a feel for how it performs on the track. Overall, I am really impressed with the car. As always, it's my ability holding m...

The Best Budget Track Car You Can Buy in 2023?
มุมมอง 1.2Kปีที่แล้ว
A long overdue update on my own cars. At the start of 2023, I decided something had to give. Two cars, a Megane R26, and a 172 Cup was no longer a viable option - the R26 was too nice to drive and its value was all tied up in the car's low mileage, and I had taken the boosted Cup as far as I could really be bothered. Sold both within two weeks. Suddenly I was without a RenaultSport for the firs...
Honda Integra DC5 K24/K20 Mapping Session. 300bhp Possible?!
มุมมอง 7Kปีที่แล้ว
In our last video, we installed the Racing Circuits Engine Harness and started the Integra for the first time in about 8 months. In this video, we took a trip to R2 Automotive to get some new Drag Cartel Camshafts fitted to the K24/K20 engine and then headed to Jesse at JCAL to get the car mapped. Impressive numbers were made, but this is just the start of the content with this build. Make sure...
Honda Integra DC5/RSX - Racing Circuits Engine Harness Install & First Start?!
มุมมอง 888ปีที่แล้ว
Continuing with Josh's Integra DC5/RSX build, in this video we get to installing a Racing Circuits Engine Harness. Josh had wanted to tidy the loom of this car for some time and was never really truly satisfied with the OEM loom that he re-harnessed himself the first time around. With an engine bay this tidy, attention to detail matters. We also attempt a first start in 8 months, but things don...

Making the Turbo 172 Cup More ‘OEM’ - Part 2

Another update on the turbo 172 Cup. This time, picking up from where we last left off. In this video, we remove the oil cooler, re-fit the fog-lights, front bumper and replace the scenic shifter with an OEM one. We (or Josh) also gave the engine bay a thorough clean - it turned out great. There's still plenty to do, with an 02 sensor to fit, gear linkage to sort, and bump stop to refit. Stay t...

Another update on the turbo 172 Cup. This time, we're making the car more 'OEM', which between me and you involves removing some of the parts that I've fitted most recently and also giving the car a little bit of TLC and rest bite from being my daily driver. Have you still got that beautiful little S3? It looks mint buddy
Never liked these when they were new but compared to modern cars this is great.
Ive driven a lot of RS Meganes, including a 225 F1 in blue out in the South Australian desert (TLDR - fecking fast and the Cup chassis comes into its own on choppy patchy outback roads at 200kph++), but am currently in a bog standard Meg2 sedan complete with a non turbo version of the F4R RS engine. All I have is some eibach lowering springs and some bilsteins. Its my second beater car, we have a nice high end Guilietta as our main drive. But with a mere 99kw, the standard Meg2 still has 90% (o, maybe 80....) of the fun and character. Renault just do great chassis tunes, regardless of the engine.
£10700 i paid for mine brand new nearly same reg as this. Mate had a CTR at same time and the fun we had. good times
I owned this car many years ago in 2016 for a few years. Did my first ever Nurburgring lap in it! Nice to see it’s still on the road.
Just go and get a ecu master plug n play ecu and get chris to map it at efi parts done
What size tires did you use for track?
I’ve had all sort of fast cars from m4s to rs5s I recently got an fn2 and for the money it’s all I want at this stage fun car to drive around with rrc 3.5 true cai to the fog vents japspeed 421 and tegiwa 70mm its comfy on the inside with a Lovely double din I can daily drive the car plus have fun also practicality of a huge boot and reliability yes it’s not the fastest 120i stage 1 can beat it but those days of trying to have the fastest car on the road are behind me just enjoying the car every day for the money you can’t beat an fn2
Stop calling it a Arb it is called a A.R.B short for Anti Roll Bar
Cool
How does it compare to a mk3 Clio RS?
Allen Christopher Walker Laura Johnson William
I have one, it really is a special car.
Who makes that intake duct? That looks amazing.
Any vids of the car driving since the cams and tune?
What all is done to the engine? CR , fuel , exhaust size?
I bought mine two months ago and I am absolutely loving it so far. The only issue with it is that the bonnet has more chips than fucking McDonalds but aside from that it’s a clean example for its age with only 52,000 miles on the clock. This may be an unpopular opinion but I have always preferred these over the EP3 as I believe that the overall styling of the interior and exterior is more desirable.
Fn2 is poop. Had them both. R26 smashes it
I’m glad they were not to be honest with you or else I wouldn’t of been able to afford mine 😂
Came across one today with only 28k miles, 21yrs old...i went in thinking it was a car to be scrapped, but it's immaculate...very close to the Toyota Super twin turbo i came across which is used as a garage shelf, with only 7k miles on the clock...there's gems out there!
Currently rebuilding the engine and gearbox lol.
Quality🫡
Both these cars would benefit from small steering wheels 😀
The FN2 doesn’t exist anymore.
It's 100% on the list
Your Cup looks great. Mine is a bit worn out at the mo but made 168,2 at EFI a few weeks back.
That's actually pretty strong for a stock F4R IMO.
Great video 👍 the music went really well with it, I'd like to hear the car's a bit more in my opinion. But thanks again for more content 🙂
Thank you! I will bare that in mind for future videos. May even upload just the raw track footage of each car if people would find it interesting.
This looks great! Looking to go spa next year. Any suggestions on accomodation?
We jumped on booking.com and shopped about. Found a house with enough beds to sleep 8 of us. Split between 8 it was £30 a night each, and only 10 minutes from the track!
Rusty or just dirty
Both haha
That's good fun Chris , a group of friends working together and having the same interest. You are making memories that will last into your old age, that you will be able to reminisce about . My friend, my brother and myself, did this sort of thing in our late teens and early twenties, back in the eighties, with trips through France and to Le mans, in our modified classic mini's. Seeing you up there at Beachy Head reminded me of my similar Sunday morning run up to there, in my Peugeot 205 gti 1.9, 13 years ago. Looks like I parked in the same place . I have an old video on my channel , it's just stills showing me parked up .I still have the car and now a modified F56 Cooper S. You are right, that it's not all about horsepower. Your clio is a perfect car for what you are doing. Keep enjoying yourself. I will keep an eye out for future video's.
Perfection!
I'm 44 and everything in my soul is still 25 and I need friends like this 😂Top vid, my idea of a Sunday morning 100%.
4:31 That's the corner you had the wrong top mount on. Maybe it's something to do with that unless you've already sorted it?
It’s definitely a concern. I’ve popped off the 10mm spacers since, so hope to get a drive in soon to see if that’s made a positive difference. I will check the top mount too
Looks a nightmare to work on ! My farther was a Renault fenatic and i always rember the 19 16 valve he basically had to take the front end apart to do the alternator lol
Haha yeah there's hardly any room at all to do much - probably much the same for the Megane!
Him and his mates owned 11 turbos @@ChristopherGower
I’ve always wanted one of these
Massively underrated and good value for money.
@@ChristopherGower where can I get one?
Now’s the time to get one, they’re dirt cheap at the moment
Cool car
Thanks for another video, glad to see you getting back into the video side of things. You're making me miss my old Renault's so I'll blame you if I buy another 😂
Good vid
With the 10mm pms front spacer. Does the wheel still locate itself on the hub protrusion? (E.g. the wheel is able to be centralised to the hub without bolts).
Yes it still centralises which is why I tend to run them. I’d still use a stud and nut conversion kit personally, but you can get longer OEM bolts. I’m going to take these off for track days though. I’m getting mega arch scrubbing at the front
@ChristopherGower ah, thanks for the response. You had the same setup with your turbo 172. But that had Brembo 4pots. You experience scrubbing then?
Definitely carry on, always good stuff!
My 182ff top mounts have about 10mm gap both sides. Old style nuts with cup dampers and cooksport springs. Wish i had lowered a bit less really. There's definitely something wrong there.
Cheers, I will take a look into it and fix it in the next video. I’ve got a few pre-track day bits to sort, so I may as well film it
@@ChristopherGower I replaced top mounts with new febi ones and tried using the revised 1 piece nut, and it actually made the gap even larger. About 12mm. So I've stuck with original spacer and slim nut. I wonder if trophy cars top mounts are just as bad? Definitely feels a bit sloppy going over rough ground.
You don't need to clean your car before every video - the camera hides a lot of things (film from a distance) Lovely Cup - defo get a stainless stealth exhaust and have a look at that top mount. Looking forward to see what your mates cars are. Video production is fine for youtube but I understand the feeling of trying to keep the quality level really high.
Get a 'Snappy' refurb wheel. You can choose your own material and colours.
That's for the standard wheel which is huge. I think Chris is wanting a smaller aftermarket steering wheel - around 330mm is perfect.
@@beijingbond Great value too.
I nearly bought this back in November/December. I just missed out but I have a Cup now which needs a bit of work. However, it's putting out 168.2 bhp after a tune at EFI last week.
Hi Chris, your content is always super clear and clean. Please keep it up! What cars do your friends have you'll cover? Looking forward to that
Great work! What's the heat shield that you are using?
Hi Chris, car look lovely! You’re back on your roof top?! Did you film just north of St Ives?
Thank you! Haha I am indeed. I tried a few spots to film this, but got moved on. This is about the only place you can film in peace. This is filmed in East Sussex where I am based
Looks great Chris, watched your rear beam video yesterday as research! Would like to get mine to a similar state soon
Looks awesome dude
So your engine is pneumonia hogeya ehh hogeya Vanessa to me engine,😊😅
I so miss my 172 Cup. It was an ex-demo car so I got it practically new at a great price with 80 miles on the clock. I got divorced and had to sell it after 5 years, but I do believe someone in Tunbridge Wells now has GXY (my buddy who lives there saw it at a youth football game). I see you changed the steering wheel. The original didn't have the dimple texture around the thumb grips - at least mine didn't, and it started to disintegrate, split & peel apart in the Summer. Best car I ever had, and it is a classic.
Mines cleaner ngl
2 years see 👀 🤣
