'74 would have been about the time I first saw Jerry Jeff in Tulsa. 34 years later on a dock in Belize he started his show with the same "OK Buckaroos". I got goosebumps when he sang "Little Bird" that night and I'm getting a little misty listening to this now. 14 years later the "Walker Stalkers" I met in Belize are now my best friends. I love Bob Livingston's opening set even if he doesn't! This is pure Jerry Jeff. Somehow I'm certain that Rita Harmon is in the front row.
A Man Must Carry On was my intro to JJW back in '78. Part of the enjoyment was it sounded like they were having a great time playing. This video fills in some of the blanks. Thanks so much.
Listening to John Inman’s solo during LA Freeway, he was simply the best guitar player in Texas at the time. Leonard Arnold and Layton from Rusty’s band, also great. Can’t forget Terry “Buffalo” Ware with Hubbard but man Inman could play.
Inman was and still is great, and just this past Friday I met Terry and Ray for the first time. Got a photo with them both! You have good taste. My favorite is Leonard Arnold though:)
I’ve wondered if these shows would ever surface again. I remember sitting in my dorm room with a cassette tape recorder trying to record them. This JJW concert was about the best. Hubbard at the Wagon Yard was classic Cowboy Twinkie. Watching takes me back to a better more simpler time.
What are the odds you still have those cassettes?😂Also my friends and I could never figure out which shows aired and which ones didn’t. Do you remember seeing a Rusty Wier/Fromholz/B.W. one? All of these tapes are golden! Yet, quite mysterious as there is almost zero account of this TV Series ever existing. Enjoy, and thanks for the comment :)
Its like walking down a mountain stream and finding one gold nugget after another. Too much fun!!
Partial B.W tape dropping today. Finally happy with his first set audio. Second set needs a ton of work.
Thanks! I'm getting my Jerry Jeff Walker fix for Saturday night. I love this guy. Thanks again.
