Without models & wind maps you would never know anything would happen. It looks so peaceful there, for now.
Radar is our best friend, models is very unreliable up to 5 days
Pat, the reason why the German ICON model and Euro model don’t have a grip on this future system is weather ballon’s. The trough you were referring to is in the area near Russia and our weather balloon is stationed in Alaska and one in Washington. So we will not have any data on that particular trough until Saturday when it’s near the intercontinental border. And according to the data collected near Central America, the spin in the atmosphere is stronger than predicted so development may be quicker than anticipated but we will have more information during the upcoming weekend. But historically, gyres that develop this time of year have a tendency towards Alabama, Panhandle Of Florida and possibly Eastern Mississippi. But remember,even though we have historical records that don’t mean that every storm will travel in the direction. So everyone on the Gulf Coast needs to watch carefully. Everyone in Georgia, including South Carolina needs to pay attention and remember that the NHC only does models 5 days out so expect the NHC model to appear during the weekend.
