When My Masculine Met My Feminine | Tijana Tamburic | TEDxBucharest

  • In her powerful speech, Tijana Tamburic argues for changing the narrative about how we perceive and fit within the perceived boundaries of femininity and masculinity, thus helping us evolve and reach our full potential.
By building on her personal story, from embracing masculinity as a defense mechanism and living in highly competitive women environments like modelling to discovering the essence of vulnerability and the unseen, unheard, unappreciated wonder of womankind, Tijana Tamburic makes a powerful point of redefining power to include more femininity. She strongly believes that showing women and men they don't have to fit within the perceived or imposed limits of femininity and masculinity to be powerful, but rather integrate both in our lives and allow them equal value in our world, can help us shine for all that we are.
Tijana Tamburic is a storyteller, a tough freelancer and the co-founder of Female Narratives. Moreover, she is a female who established her own metamorphosis.
After a modeling agency suddenly dropped her for not being “thin enough”, Tijana co-founded Female Narratives with associate model Franziska Klein. An overnight idea, the feeling that something was missing and a 2-people decision - this is how a creative agency that operates to connect brands to real female freelancers & real stories began.
Tijana collaborates with clients like Squarespace, North Face, Bumble, W Hotels and loads of female-led ethical brands. Her stories come in many different forms: a branding concept, an experiential marketing strategy, a social media campaign or a travel/culture article.
She is a UCL history graduate with experience in publishing, press, PR, production, project management and editorial roles. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I agree. That is why men are so mad today. We are told to be vulnerable, and women are told to be masculine. It's an impossible world. Yes, she was correct the world is becoming more masculine for her, as all women are encouraged to be manly. But men are demonized.

Most people don't understand, but my past experiences are invaluable to me, and if I had it all to do all over again I wouldn't change anything, because then my life would be different and I wouldn't be the person I am today 💝💐

    Unseen, unheard, unappreciated..
This is the history of femininity.
    I hope it changes.
We are just as good. We just need that to be understood and respected, not told our place is 'naturally to be submissive' and quiet. We need to have equal value, because this is how this issue if sexism and related issues will stop and we will live in peace without either being destroyed.
We need more respect for the feminine. That is all.
I must also add that this is a concept that has been taught my Native Americans. Moreso in the existance of the now termed(and sometimes debated) 'two-spirited' individual. Spiritually, this was someone who had both the masculine and feminine energies within them. There is also the esoteric teachings of the first human from whom male and female arose when they were split in half achronomicon, I think...I don't recall the spelling...You can look it up.

I react to several things yes women can slander but men do it too and can be really bad, I've been working in male jobs most all my life and sitting back listening you see them.
You say your male side met your female and for the first time you let your self to be vonerable, well that has nothing to do with masculine or feminine because men are vonerable too and they cry they are only afraid to show it because of patriarchy.
Masculine are the male gender and feminine are the womens gender.
You were only hurt and hid inside yourself as so many others do and all the sudden you met yourself in the door and got smarter not less male or more woman.

    • @anmoweb

And the hair; hsir do has altered and changed over the hundreds of years and here patriarchy has a finger in it too, women was put in a box by the church how to be chould wear skirt, long hair, be hime, work at home, have kids, controlled by the family, and if you broke out of it you were a shame and a townboy, everyone was and are so programmed by this norm that girls and women even in modern time suffer from peoples view on how women should be.
