Having met her husband two years into a 13-year prison sentence for attempted murder, Carla, 30, and Erik Aguirre, 31, from California, were understandably excited to be reunited on the outside - having spent only around 50 days of their decade-long relationship together. But their joy was short-lived as on the day of his release Erik was sent to an immigration detention centre, before being deported back to his native Mexico - a country he hadn’t lived in since the age of 10. The couple now live together in Tijuana, Mexico and say that while the switch from 15-minute daily phone calls to 24:7 cohabitation took some adjusting to, they are now happily settled and planning a family together. Erik says that Carla’s love changed his outlook on life and the pair now share their lives on their TH-cam channel, which Carla set up while Erik was incarcerated to help other people with family members or partners in jail.

Yes! And as my mom always tells me, "it's better to be single and lonely than be in a bad relationship." Plus I've always been a believer in when it happens it'll happen. And for me, it happened nine years of being single but it was worth it!
A man would never wait 10 years for a woman to leave prison. And would never follow her from the USA to Mexico because of love. Good luck for this couple.

That’s not true. I worked in an all men’s prison and across from ours there was a woman’s prison. There were several men waiting years for their women that were in prison.

@Kumkum Tins Back in the day when they first got together she was in better shape it looked like. Time does that to some. Maybe her parents are on the bigger side too and that's just the way genetics is. I'm sure she didn't have to wait for him. She could have found someone else or someone in the states to stay with. But she loves him and decided to wait. That means alot to some men. But it's not superficial. It's what's on the inside and how you are as a person. Not going to lie looks do play a part whether we like it or not but that shouldn't be the main thing you look for in a person.

Even if that s the case - where is the problem? You can talk to 1000 people and not find someone you really fall in love with (like a loooot of people) and you can also only have dated one person in your whole life, that s perfect and live an awesome life together.

@@BlackMamba-lt8oe no, She was the one who made all the effort, he was in prison, evidently for him, any girl who is in a relationship with him was fine, the girl could be with whoever she wanted. And she preferred to be with a prisoner, so he is the one to be proud of ,he had no other choice.
Actually it's a codependency issues which stems from child hood trauma. You don't need anyone to complete you let alone wait that long. People are abundant in love, peace, wisdom etc

I remember watching this couple on Truly when he was deported & all the comments screamed "he will leave you the minute he gets out!". Seem to be happy & that they're living their life the best they can, given their circumstances.

I will say a prayer for them, God forgives our sins if we repent, so who are we as mere humans not to forgive others
So, different standards should be applied for attempted murder because someone is young? He wasn't a child by any stretch of the imagination. If he really has turned his life around, then good for him, but he doesn't deserve sympathy or leniency when it comes to the crimes he committed. That sympathy needs to be reserved for the VICTIMS of his crimes. Im 100% positive he committed many more crimes than what he was convicted for....those crimes are just the ones he got CAUGHT committing. This is not a fairy tale love story, its a story of two people who both have some deep seated issues, but are being glorified on this channel due to their story being unconventional.

I love this...this gives me hope...I met my boyfriend a month ago and he has been incarcerated for 8 years now...my uncle who is his cell mate introduce us...lol...he has five years left hopefully less and I feel he is my soulmate...its nice to see that I'm not alone when it comes to meeting and falling in love with someone in prison...I dont even care what other people's judgements are.

Damn, I don't know if I could just pick up & go to a whole new country like that. I guess since they were doing it together, it would be easier than just moving to some random place all alone, but it would probably still freak me out...at least for a while.
