I'm thinking comps are cool. I don't really need one for 9mm, but I like the look of these Griffin Micro comps. I picked up a couple, and I'm getting two more for fun. I discovered that theses comps may not always be a plug and play situation. With Silencerco barrels in both the G43, and G43X, this comp screws all the way into the slide... A no go. With the Rival Arms barrel in the G48, this comp screws so far onto the barrel, that the barrel's thread's are blocking half of the ports... Pretty much just an expensive thread protector at that point. The G19 with the Zev Pro barrel screws on perfectly, and is practically clocked with two of the ports on the topside. I'm going to order Tacticool22 .688 1/2" crush washers... Then these little comps will work on all the above Glock/barrel combos, which can be easily clocked. I know they say you don't need to clock these three port comps, but I think it would be beneficial to put two ports up. I really want to go to the range... Have fun.
@@AppliedDefenseConceptsLLC I bought four of these comps, and installed them on the G43, 43X, 48, and 19. At first I didn't think the comp was doing much, but I did notice a difference when picking up the pace. I think they look cool, and all four gun's were just as accurate, maybe even a little better paired with the ZEV Pro, and Rival Arms match barrels. Anyway, they are beautiful thread protectors, and I like them. Have fun.
I have a Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 4.5" Tactical OSP 9mm. It's an accurate gun. The trigger is better than my old XD 9 Service model. The Elite technically has a 5.28" barrel which adds to the velocity of the round. Are you familiar with that hand gun model? Do you know if the threads could block the ports? Trying to avoid shipping and returning hassle. Also my assumption would be that since my barrel is longer the recoil is greater because of the velocity increase compared to a compact or sub compact. I noticed you said it might work better on shorter barreled guns. Thoughts? I'm getting mixed messages online about this concept so just curious what your logic is. You posted this 2 years ago so maybe you might have a different opinion now. Anyway any insight would be helpful thanks
@@clutchcargo1239 Could you read my other comment on this thread. I'm curious if you know. I just noticed you said some threaded barrels cover up the ports when screwed on.

@@AppliedDefenseConceptsLLC Not true, they recommend using a wrench on the flats of the comp to tighten to a specific torque pound. While it's not strictly "required" it's advisable. That's why it has flats all around it
I just put it on my Glock 19 today. I was a little skeptical with the comp being open like at the bottom so the gasses would push down on it controlling recoil. But I shot around 75 rounds and I believe it actually helps some. I should have my 43x threaded barrel and I'm now anxious to see how it will feel on the 43x. Nice video. 😎😎
@@AppliedDefenseConceptsLLC Good to know. I saw a couple of negative reviews where complaints about accuracy were noted. The reviewers were apparently shooting offhand. I couldn't see how they determined an accuracy problem without bench shooting the gun. Most reviewers had no real complaints. I'm going to try these for sure.
I think you said H&K P30SK? Where did you get the threaded barrel, from Griffin Armament? I would like to get one for my P30SK. Also, I have to say I was a bit alarmed to see your hammer back and the magazine inserted, suggesting there was a round in the chamber when you were showing the pistol to the camera AND screwing/unscrewing the comp. If true, not cool at all. At least use the decocker. I can show you the results of an accidental discharge that went through my hand. Still undergoing medical procedures to correct the damage done. Safety first, man.
We always appreciate the safety look out. As instructors, we definitely don't want to set a bad example. Rest assured the gun was not loaded with ammo when I was installing or removing the comp.

If it helps you shoot use it. Only thing I would worry about is what the lawyers would say about you if you were to use this in a self defense situation. " look at his gun, it was designed to kill better."
I probably worry too much, but I've always carried a stock weapon loaded with the same ammo my local police use. This was suggested by 2A lawyers to aid in a civil defense if I were to have to kill a bad guy. It doesn't mean you would have problems it just means you could. I live in Colorado which is very blue so I dont take any chances.
@@fireboyrasmussen1976 Some ammo (like R.I.P) could be a concern, as could excessively light triggers, if you live in a blue area. But I don't think a comp is much of a concern. Even an aftermarket trigger is probably fine if you stay within the bounds of reason, e.g an OEM minus disconnector or replacing a curved shoe with a flat one.

@@SheepdogColumbus that's interesting and we really appreciate your Insight. I think we're going to continue doing what we know works for the time being though. 10,000% Gimmick! I ordered one and tried it on several guns with several types of ammo of all pressure ranges, I used a force meter to measure the force into the hand and the G force of the muzzle rise. ZERO difference across the board. Its nothing but a thread protector

Obviously less of a kick from that slowed down side by side clip (slowed down to 0.25 speed it's very obvious). Cool!
thank you very much for this video. exactly what I was looking for with the camera comp.
It would be best to have the same grip on the gun when doing the side by side
Comps work better with hotter rounds. What were you shooting? If only 115gr target loads, you won't notice much difference.
Do you need a tool to apply the comp. Or just screw with your hand like in this video?
No tools needed

Clock it with spacers so the exit is up ????
