Interesting. If the heat is eliminating the lipase, it’s probably also denaturing the antibodies and killing the leukocytes, stem cells, and probiotics too, unfortunately, but still probably better than formula.
Hi. Can I use pitcher method before scalding the milk? So i won't have to scald it more than once in a day?.thank you. How many days did you froze it before you thaw and taste it?. Thankyou
Hi! Im a working and first time mom, im learning a lot new things for my baby, found out your youtube video about scalding and this video helps me so much. Just want to ask what happen if you scald the frozen one? Is it still good for baby to drink?
Hi! Scalding previously frozen milk won’t remove the taste since the lipase had already broken down the fat in the milk and developed the undesirable taste.
I recently had baby #2 and with this one, I would scald then put the whole pot into a pan of cold water for a couple of minutes before pouring into the bag. It cools really quickly and it’s no longer hot when you put it into the bag. Not sure why I didn’t think to do that with the first!
Hi! You need to scald it immediately (several hours in the fridge is fine too) after pumping. Scalding it after the milk smells funny won’t take away the smell. Hope that helps!
@@jomama1995how about when the milk had been in the fridge for the past 12 hrs and they’re pumped from different times just added together. Is that still okay to scald?
Hi Mara! You need to scald fresh milk prior to freezing. Scalding frozen breast milk won’t fix the smell/taste since the lipase was already active. It’s also not recommended to refreeze thawed breast milk. Hope that helps!
Hi, unfortunately scalding is only for fresh milk :( I donated my stash of milk that I had frozen before learning about scalding it. If you're interested in donating, there's a Facebook group called Human Milk 4 Human Babies where you can offer up the milk that your little one won't take. Just make sure to specify that it's high lipase milk/soapy tasting. The soapy taste isn't harmful for babies, but some babies just don't prefer the taste whereas others couldn't care less!

It’s the same thing breast milk donation centers do I think. It does get rid of some nutrients but not enough for formula to be any better. :)
Yup, as i know, milk donation centers also do this pasteurization. It is still better than formula.
Thank you so much for this!! Amazing! Thought I was crazy, thought he was being picky!
I'm glad this helped you and your little one!
Jeez, thank you for this. Myself i cannot even imagine testing it. i feel for my baby, and i end up dumping the milk lol.
My breast milk hasn’t soured yet thankfully 😁
Did you let it cool down first before putting in the BM bag?
I just put it straight into the BM bag.

Hi! Yes, you can collect it and scald all of it at the end of the day. Sorry, I don’t remember how long I had it frozen before thawing and tasting it.

I tried bagging it right away but the bag was so hot! I could barely touch it… Does this happen to you too??

Do you scald it immediately after pumping or does it work after the milk smells funny?

Hi. Is scalding just for fresh milk. I have a supply in freezer that I’m pretty sure tastes soapy. And I don’t want to throw it away 😭😭

I thought once is thaw you can't refreez
That’s correct, you can’t refreeze. I scald the milk right after pumping.
Can you scald the frozen one and feed it right after? Or that doesn’t help since it was already frozen?
