I just took a look at your specific breaker. This design will not have a slot for your white wire. All white wires and your white pigtail will be terminated on your main neutral bar 🍻
But doesn’t that defeat the purpose? Basically makes it a “normal” breaker? Hows it supposed to detect arc’s when the neutrals now even going through it? Sounds like a normal breaker to me. Your thoughts?
@@Cowboy711AoZ yes I know what you mean. I was scratching my head too. It doesn't look any different than the regular AFCI since we want a CAFCI. I was looking at their brochures. It doesn't convince me that it's a CAFCI...
I wonder how they get away with saying it is… its really hard to find any information on these breakers. You should get one and do a video. I tried searching for hours and no one has any information on it.. when an arc happens.. does that travel on only the white wire? Or black as well? If it happens on black wire then maybe this breaker will work? But only 50%. Thoughts?
@@Cowboy711AoZ I believe the arc can happen in either black or white wire. If there's a break (hair line split) in the wire or loose connection on either white or black it will trip the breaker. Or even the lightest minor short in the circuit. There should be neutral wire slot on the breaker so the device can detect the neutral side. Someone should tell Siemens it doesn't look right.
Is it better/easier, as you've done in vid, to screw in all wires AFTER you've snapped the breaker in place? Or equally doable to screw in wires while holding breaker in hand (before mounting)? Thanks!
Hmmm if you feel you are limited in space and think it'll be difficult to put them after. By all means do it your way but make sure the breaker is on the OFF setting. For my way I'm just dealing with one wire at a time so it's pretty easy. I never done it the other way.
@@KevinPon. Thanks for the quick reply, Kevin. No preference of my own; Just saw other vids where poster did wires first, so thought I'd see if you had specific reason. Would flip it back, but it's been happening progressively more frequently til it finally gave up & wouldn't stay in place any more. So assuming it's faulty, and hope a new one will solve the problem. Very good. Clear directions and thanks.
Thanks for the video. How about the ground wire? Is it not required in Canada? I use 14/2 with copper wire for ground...
Hello there! The ground wire is required. Must be terminated on the ground bar in the panel.
Liked the video, my only question is why not turn the main breaker off to be extra safe?
oops just read you comment about the main.
Could you explain why some Siemens breakers have a green sticker where the N sticker is? Thanks
How would you install a Q1515AFC? Its a tandem breaker and has a pigtail but no where to connect my white wire. Just my 2 loads.
