I have a theory that weight training works. You use your neck almost whatever you do, which you realise when you get a stiff neck. Sagging in this area is not really realated to the skin but whatever is going on under the surface. But also the overall health benefits from any exercise keeps you young and therefore makes you look younger. My jowls are more prominent when I don't get enough sleep; it's all connected.
This is true. However be careful not to over stretch you neck when lifting heavy. Cardio in general increases circulation every where in the body and it’ll help tighten skin, and the one no one wants to hear , reduce sugar consumption , it sticks to your skin like glue. Watch any video of people who gave up sugar and lost weight and you’ll notice how much of the fat comes off the joules and neck area. I had accordion neck from borderline obesity, lost fifty pounds and avoided any hanging skin by losing the weight slowly through the course of two years , sweating a lot, cooking a lot , weight training and running. But you know what’s better than all that ? Surround yourself with people that appreciate you and laugh as much as possible. Love yourself
It absolutely does work. The best thing you can is work out with weights. Too many people do very little for their overall body and health. They eat and live but not much else and they wonder why they age so fast.
You tell it straight and you are "Honest". I'm 73 and have been using Retinol, NuFace, and Red light tx for about 10 mos, along with years of a good skin care regimen. I was hoping to see my skin tighten in my neck and jowls but don't really think there has been a significant difference. I appreciate that you said surgery is the only way to get rid of sagging skin and not give false hope to those who already have it.
Thank you for that ❤️ I do think so many products are sold off the back of pushing false hope so I wanted to guide expectations to help folks make better choices. ☹️
Have you tried good collagen supplements? You need to be careful to not increase calcium levels. The second thing is facial exercises, you need physical help to help with your face at this age
For me, microneedling did wonders. I do it at home. I did both 0.25mm and 0,5mm., and 0,5mm definitely helps sagginess. I didn't see significant difference with 0.25mm. I use hyaluronic acid. Also, you won't see the results immediately. I noticed a big difference over the course of a year.
I don't think the brand really matters as long as it's "real needles". Just buy reputable brands with "real needles". And everyone is different. I saw some youtube videos, doing 0,5mm microneedling every week with very good results but that would be overkill for me. You definitely have to be careful, watching how your skin reacts and don't overdo. I did once a month for a couple of times, then only once per two months. That was enough with 0,5mm for me. Like I said, I didn't see the results immediately but later on I was shocked to see how well it works. Also there is a dermatologist who explained that microneedling at home is the best skin rejuvenation in general, and works much safer and better than lasers etc. Only reason people don't promote is there is no money to be made by affiliate links etc. I think 0.25 mm is a lot more forgiving but I didn't see much results, since the depth didn't stimulate collagen production.
When I consistently use my Nuface and a 500w red light panel I do notice positive results, they aren’t huge but I definitely look better. Two other tools I swear by. - a Dermal Tone facial exerciser, which hasn’t been made in decades, and a Dermawand, which I especially like for the mouth, nasolabial folds, upper eyes and the brow area. I try to be consistent in using a c serum am and a retinoid pm. Consistency is the key! In the past when I have had Botox and/or fillers I didn’t use the tools (other than red light) so as not to ruin results, but those treatments are expensive, so I’m back to home tools. Early 60s, btw. Your channel is terrific, good content, thank you!
How interesting to hear someone talk about dermawand I can never decide if it really works, I’ll start feel like it’s doing something then think not and I stop it. Also, not sure if I should use it morning and night or just 1x a day and also for how long. Would be nice to hear about people’s experiences/results with dermawand.
Really interesting video, thank you. Red light therapy has definitely made a difference in my case, but I think the facial massages on Aysel's channel (the one who originally showed the salt water towel method) are amazing and have helped my sagging so much. She has so many videos on this area and they have made such a difference, particularly in stretching the muscles in my neck and the depessor muscles which cause the corners of the mouth to turn down. The tightening of these muscles, particularly in those of us who spend all day sitting at a computer, contributes so much to sagging jowls and the neck area.
I love my Oralift (has really helped my jowls). City Beauty Crepe Erase has made a huge difference in the crepiness of the skin on my neck. I’m 59, and have taken pretty good care of the skin on my neck. So far, these two things are all I’ve had to use. I do use red light therapy, microcurrent, and Nira laser on a regular basis as well.
I am 61 and have been using the Nira and am blown away at how it has actually TIGHTENED my turkey neck and has been tightening my skin, thus eliminating my wrinkles. I was pleasantly surprised!!! Try it!😊
@susanll4811 That just gave me a little hope. I have Nira Pro and I just have not heard much about results. Could you share which one you have and how often/how long you use? Thanks in advance!
@Griffnstuff I use the larger one every night. I started using it am and pm for 4 months, started seeing a difference and then I used it nightly. The ha serum is very important. Good luck!
I use Red light+ NIR don't forget the NIR tightens the skin " I believe" Microcurrent, Ems, face exercises, Jade roller, peptides, retin a and SPF. These devices , exercises and skincare throughout the week for me have been a game changer.
I've found the biggest difference to be from red light and microneedling. I also do a Medicube ultrasound/RF device about once a week. I have the Ziip but can't get myself to use it more than once or twice a week because I don't like it's need for serum. Same with the Medicube device. I do find that all these things make a difference. I will try that 'wet towel' trick.
@@MagicDarkStarYes, they can do. Though I find some of the conductor serums and gels intensify the feel of the current. I like the ZIIP because I hardly feel it. I’m a bit of a coward 😁
@@Julesritter1I wonder if your skin is a little sensitized to it and reacting differently. Might be worth scaling back. I find the serums make the current too strong for my skin.
I just started using castor oil, and I love it. My neck couldn't tolerate Retin A, so I used retinal instead. But recently I started using my retin a with castor oil on my neck, and all is well. no irritation...hoping I get some good results
Castor oil is a great occlusive to use! I apply it around my eyes as a last step at night instead of wearing these patches. Great to hear you're getting good results.
Thank you so much for your reply! BTW, we visited Scotland many moons ago with our daughter who was 3 and she still remembers highlights of the trip...beautiful place with wonderful people.
Not sure if you purposely left this out because it didn't make the list. What about collagen powder? I have been taking that everyday for the last 5 years and feel like that not only helped with my skin but my overall joint health.
I've spoken about collagen powder before on the channel and hydrolyzed collagen in particular. I wanted to focus on things I felt could make a visible difference to jowls and turkey neck, but if I'm doing a wider skincare video I often mention collagen.
Thanks for your info I just started omnilux red light mask I’m in my 3 rd month I just had my 79th birthday and I’m blessed with youthful skin I’m not looking to reverse my lines around my mouth but hopefully they will not get worse I have seen a difference in plumpness and my 11 between the brows ☺️…you mention sunscreen and I use titanium dioxide & zinc oxide I’ve been using it for many years…looking forward to watching more of your videos thanks…
I had great results from my NEWA device and also icing under my neck, much better than I’ve seen from Kybella however I also use the bluelene sun block but only in winter as I’m in OZ and the sun is way too strong here. I love their night cream and use after my red light therapy.
Really interested to hear about your results with the NEWA. I had been digging around the consumer views and found them very mixed. Glad it worked out for you. Sounds like you’ve got a good routine going!
Thanks for this round up! I didn't see a difference w OneSkin. I'm interested in peptides for skincare, but skeptical: they are very large molecules that the skin won't absorb unless there is a delivery mechanism of some kind. Have you ever looked into this? I would be interested in your take. To the best of my understanding, peptides are way over 500 daltons. I'm not sure but I think you have to do some fat-coating (liposomic) or concoct something else to deliver the peptides.
Yes, it’s a good point that I raised in my interviews with the three brands I mentioned as having some good science behind them. In OneSkin’s case penetration was found through a skin sample biopsy. They grow their own skin in a lab.
@@thehonestchannel Yeah, I remember that, and that's part of why I took the plunge. But now I am reluctant to do so unless the brand specifically discusses their mechanism of delivery. I've read a lot about OneSkin in the meantime and my experience is not unusual. I don't rule out returning to them, but would need more info/data than I have right now.
I've gotten to where I only use my OneSkin the days immediately after doing microneedling. It's the only moisturizer I trust in those days, and does seem to have a noticeable effect. I can't tell though for sure if it's adding that or just the cumulative effects of having done more microneedling sessions since adding it, which would have happened even if I hadn't added it.
Thank you for this video. You mention that you’re now using the Ziip every day. However I have heard and read on various threads that microcurrent shouldn’t be done every day because there is only so much energy the cells can absorb and that they need time in between treatments (like every other day), for the cells to do their thing. Of course I don’t know one way or the other, but it’s confusing when there is seemingly opposite advice out there. 😊
I find the ZIIP very gentle and I don’t use a conductor gel with it so I pretty much use it daily now as part of my routine. I would stick to the manufacturer guidelines on your device though. If they say 3 to 5 times a week then find a pattern that works for you. The maximum recommended for the ZIIP is 6 days a week. Sometimes I just drop a throwaway mention into a video and then realize I probably needed to explain myself more fully!
@@thehonestchannel I would also like to understand how you use your ZIIP without the conductor gel. Could you please explain this in more detail - thank you!🙂 PS. Ahh, I've just seen your comments further on in the thread where you say you use it on damp skin. Could I use something like a misting of Avene mineral water during my Ziip treatments?
Hi Clare, I love all your videos and am so happy I discovered your channel. I wanted to say you a big THANK YOU for what you do! Especially I like the interviews with different professionals. On your channel I learned about Maysama, Do Not Age supplements, red light therapy and incorporated those in my life 1 year ago. I clearly see result from the red light therapy on my hands, on face - hard to tell to be honest. I'm doing facial exercises for my face and neck and can feel that muscle under my chin got stronger - it's a place where double chin forms. I also did 3 micro needling treatments combined with the TCA peel at the office and see some results - skin surface became smoother and small wrinkles are less noticeable. But no drastic changes to my overall appearance. Given that it's not chip to do it at the office, I'm planning continue to do micro needling at home myself. They gave me a face was with glycolic acid, which I use daily - my skin feels and looks very smooth, it's a great chemical exfoliator. I'm very impressed by this face wash and will continue to use it. I also googled, that glycolic acid is making skin thicker. I'm using it on my under and upper eye leads too. I discovered Adipeau cream on your channel. Am using it for 8 months by now under my eyes to treat hollows there, but don't see noticeable results. I have few questions for you: 1). Do you have a video on how to accept aging by any chance? I think I saw a header of one of your video's on this topic, but am not sure and cannot find it back. I'm trying to mediate and exercise - it helps to recharge and destress. But my aged look weighing so much on my self esteem. I would love to know how other people are dealing with it. I feel a disconnect between how I feel inside and look on the outside (I feel like I'm 30, full of energy). 2). You did a Tixel treatment some time back, I watched your video on this. I'm considering to do it to treat wrinkles around eyes. Would you recommend to do it (not taking price into account)? I'm 46 and started to see very noticeable wrinkles under my eyes and on my neck 1 year ago. I'm using tretinoin cream daily on my face for 8 years by now, but was not using it under eyes and on my neck (blindly followed advice of one you tuber that those areas will not tolerate tretinoin and didn't tested it myself - so stupid of me, blaming myself now for this mistake every day - I tried it now and can tolerate it very well... such an idiot I am). 3). It would be great to see video like this one but about volume loss , especially in the under eyes area. Thank you! I always look forward to your videos!
@@gabbyskitchen6640 I also prefer to stay home and stopped to take pictures of myself as hollows under my eyes are very prominent. On the other side I'm afraid to inject filler (I made 2 appointments to do it, but cancelled afterwards because of the risks). Sending yuo lots of strengths.🤝

You raise such an important question here - thank you. How do we accept aging in a time when there is so much telling us we shouldn’t be showing our age. I made this video a while back which relates to this but I think it would be worth re-exploring Why, at 50, I look my age and so do you th-cam.com/video/ToOdoLAnl9E/w-d-xo.html I haven’t got it all figured out myself and don’t think I’ve found the right balance yet. I do know that in exercising and getting physically stronger I have started to worry less about facial aging because I feel more energized. I feel Tixel was probably a good option a few years back. It gave me a slight lift which was helpful but nothing close to surgical results. Did you see my video last week on injectable options? Dr Emmaline was saying she was getting food results under the eyes with polynucleotides. I will make a note to do something like this specifically for the under eye area though ❤️
Years ago you were using a device that was warming and I believe vibrating around your eyes. I looked but couldn’t find the video. You had mentioned the heat and vibration helped remove puffiness around the eye area. What was the name of that device? Do you still like it? Have you found anything that works better? Thank you:)

You and cosmetic dermatologist Stephanie Kapple are the only anti aging podcasts that tell it like it is and is completely honest about what works and what doesn't work. The only thing that I question is the towel reduction of turkey neck. Because you can have turkey neck for 2' separate reasons. (1) From I er weight and (2) when you are not overweight and just have aged sagging skin. In this case hitting your face with a towel is not going to get rid of turkey neck. I just feel bad about spending al lot of my money on face devices that DON'T WORK.
So glad you find the channel helpful! The towel technique does sound questionable but I have had a lot of viewers tell me it’s helping their neck so I figure it’s free and worth a try. I have a feeling there’s something quite powerful about the combined friction on the skin and gentle pounding of the muscle. Totally hear you re the Easter money on devices. I have done so much of that. ☹️
At 71, I have a definite turkey neck. I suspect I'd fit in your category 2, although I used to be overweight. I've been trying the towel/turkey neck treatment recently. Somewhat to my own surprise, it does seem to help. I don't think it's going to make my turkey neck go away completely, but free reductions are nice. The technique may have a mild toning effect on the underlying muscle plus increasing circulation, which may be what's causing any improvement. I hear you about spending money on things that don't work, although I've been fortunate on those as far as at home face devices go.
Hi Clare, I'm ok with the neck area, even though I do nothing really, but I watched this anyway - just in case I need to know for the future. My eye area is my bugbear 🙂 Love how you present your videos xx
Microcurrent definitely gives you an immediate effect that lasts about 24 hours. I can see a glow and a lift right away. However, after using it for a couple of weeks, I also noticed the lines around my mouth were deeper, and I have a feeling that it can be easy to strengthen the wrong muscles and cause more sagging or perhaps it’s a little fat loss. I don’t know, but I stopped doing it because I was afraid of damage. Although I do love the immediate result and if I still have the device, I might use it for very special occasions only. I sold my mini though.
I’ve done a video on microcurrent before where I talked about avoiding the stronger devices. I find the ZIIP a lot gentler and don’t use a conductor gel. Like anything I think it’s totally possible to overdo it and tip into negative results. It’s great that you were monitoring your skin and paying close attention to how it was responding ❤️
Hi Clare, I saw some great results on jowls and neck just from massage (Aysel, the lady who shared that towel massage has a lot of examples on her channel). I will start a series of miofascial and intraoral massage treatments for my TMJ issues (in clinic, done by a specialist), but it's also supposed to "lift" the face. I will report back. I also ordered an RF/EMS device, still waiting for it, I'll see if it's any good.
The worst thing to use is any RF device it destroys the fat in your face. Claire my friends have been using the Korean brand KRX neck cream and had great results . I have just purchased it and just started using it , it has a weird thread like texture almost chewing gum which is I believe is part of the 22 ingredients formula .
I’ve only just started with Ashley Black’s facial blaster on my face. Too early to see results. Supposedly it should help with jowls. I do use the nuface and I feel it has helped.
So interesting that you mention her. She reached out with a supportive comment recently and I just watched her story. Really interesting. I’m going to try the fasciablaster on my cellulite!!
Wonderful to have you listening in Chile! The device I use is the ZIIP. I've included a link in the description to an article summarizing my skincare routine and the products I use.
On every video u reccomend sunscreen. I use sunscreen, but they all are sticky, or greasy or leave a white trace, especially if u use 50 + sunscreen. Please, make a video about sunscreens with or without makeup or what sunscreen should we use if we have dry skin with large pores. Thankyou.
I use mineral sunscreens and will be doing a video in the next couple of weeks setting out why along with what I think are some of the better options available. Hope you'll find that helpful.
I purchased Buelene sunscreen, but I found it to have a strong white cast which my cream foundation doesn't correct well. Also, what is your opinion about selecting a sunscreen which one can reapply during the day and not look chalky? BTW, I have been doing the towel/salt stimulation trick and think it has helped. Thanks so much! I always learn something helpful on your channel!
The Bluelene sunscreen is zinc oxide based (I only use zinc oxide sunscreens now) and they do tend to leave a slight cast that shows more on some skin tones and types than others so it is a bit of a case of trying a few different ones to see what suits you best. I'm going to do a video dedicated to zinc oxide-based sunscreens on June 16th and I'm testing a few different ones at the moment. Versed used to do a brilliant tinted mineral sunscreen but it doesn't seem to be available at the moment. Aveeno also do a tinted mineral one which is worth a try. So glad the towel trick helped! It's incredible how many people have told me it works. So good to find a free solution!!
Clare, where did you get the round metal probes that you attach to the Ziip or did I misunderstand you , that you are just using the device as a massage tool? Thank you for another great video. And I too am upping my microcurrent, because at my age, I can use all the help that I can get!!! Love YOU!!!
Hi Valentina! The metal probes are the ones already on the ZIIP. Sorry if I confused you 😊 I think I see a difference with using it more frequently. Another viewer asked about frequency and the max recommended with the ZIIP is 6 days a week ❤️❤️
There’s no real data around home devices and hyperpigmentation so it’s really hard to say. If it’s a big concern you may want to try microcurrent as a starting point
Hi! I thought to share that I have olive skin and just after 5 uses (10 min max) of the Omnilux Led light mask I noticed a light, diffused patch of hyperpigmentation developing on one side of my face. I stopped using it immediately and after a recent visit to a dermatologist, she called it a "pseudo-melasma" type of pigmentation. It's very light but it's there and I'm very frustrated by it. It was definitely triggered by the red light therapy. It was a mother's day gift from my daughter and we had the hardest time explaining the reaction to the company. They refused to take the device back and we had to go through a consumer protection agency in order to be able to return the device and get a refund. If you have olive or darker skin... I'd proceed with caution.
@@christinaoliveira5335 , thank u so much for sharing this! Im sorry your skin had a pigment reaction. Its so frustrating how device companies push the anti-aging claims w/o openly cautioning of hyperpigmentation or fat loss. @christinaoliveira5335 Interesting... I had heard by Dermatologists online and Dr V who formulates cosmetics and focus on dark skin that people with tan/dark/deep skin should not use just any color of light therapy. They said that it has a potential to create hyperpimentation except for the red color. Did you only use the red color or the other ones as well?
@@christinaoliveira5335Thanks for sharing your experience here. I’ve heard a few anecdotal reports of this with red light. There really need to be more studies done around this.
To clarify, every person has TMJ. TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint. The temporomandibular joints are the two joints that connect your lower jaw to your skull. More specifically, they are the joints that slide and rotate in front of each ear. They consist of the mandible, which is the lower jaw, and the temporal bone, which is the side and base of the skull. What you meant to say is that you have TMJ Disorder. TMJ Disorder is a disorder of the jaw muscles, temporomandibular joints, and the nerves associated with chronic facial pain. Any problem that prevents the complex system of muscles, bones, and joints from working together in harmony may result in TMJ Disorder.
Yes, I've used the Qure at home device which I liked and have had a couple of clinical microneedling treatments too. I think it's good for improving the skin surface but isn't going to make a big difference to more advanced signs of sagging and jowls in my view.

Hello, Everyone. I am a firm believer in facial exercises, essential oils and what eat today will show on our face tomorrow. so, eat your vegetables every day.
"Struggling with TMJ" 😄 TMJ is the name of a joint, which we all have. It's not a disorder in itself. I think you mean, _struggling with a TMJ disorder_ , which is often associated with a malocclusion and therefore is highly unlikely to be rectified with any of the methods you mention here. Surgery is often needed.
At my mum’s age we just really focus on her health and muscle strength which are intertwined. She still works so it can be challenging to find the time but she exercises every day and eats very well. They cook from scratch each day. I’d like to see her up her protein intake, but that’s it. She takes a few supplements and doesn’t like to spend a lot of time on skincare. She uses micellar water and OneSkin moisturizer and that’s pretty much it. I tell her to wear sunscreen more often!
So botox paralyzes the muscles to lesson lines by relaxing muscles..But these exercises are making the muscles stronger and tighter? So things like marionette lines would be pulling down the mouth more? No? I'm just confused.
Muscle, bone and skin are interconnected and there have been studies showing that by building muscle we improve the health and condition of our skin (as well as improving bone density). There is no situation in which you would not want to improve and maintain your muscle mass as you age.
The best way to deal with this is to stop doing anything that stretches your skin. Injections stretch the skin, face yoga stretches the skin. And any poking or pulling of any kind really.

Thanks for sharing this Sharon. You're inspiring me to check out more of Aysel's videos and trying some of these additional movements myself.
Thanks for sharing what has helped you ❤️
The Zip and Led red light really work very well… just use continually..love the results.
Red light therapy along with Trentinion, Aha & Bha's and estrogen cream worked wonders on my turkey neck. Sunscreen of course!
Awesome - which estrogen cream did you use on your neck, please?
Does the oestrogen cream carry into the body? It’s used in HRT so I presume it interacts with hormones.

@susanll4811 That just gave me a little hope. I have Nira Pro and I just have not heard much about results. Could you share which one you have and how often/how long you use? Thanks in advance!

I use Red light+ NIR don't forget the NIR tightens the skin " I believe" Microcurrent, Ems, face exercises, Jade roller, peptides, retin a and SPF.
These devices , exercises and skincare throughout the week for me have been a game changer.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Little secret is that I don't apply a serum with the ZIIP - or any device. I feel all that is a bit of a fuss over nothing.
I do feel the serum helps soften the snapping and zapping effects though !
@@MagicDarkStarYes, they can do. Though I find some of the conductor serums and gels intensify the feel of the current. I like the ZIIP because I hardly feel it. I’m a bit of a coward 😁
My Ziip has suddenly started to feel really painful. Any one else have this issue? I’ll try without the serum.

@@thehonestchannelhow can the device work without the conducive gel?
I have few questions for you:

You raise such an important question here - thank you. How do we accept aging in a time when there is so much telling us we shouldn’t be showing our age. I made this video a while back which relates to this but I think it would be worth re-exploring Why, at 50, I look my age and so do you

I haven’t got it all figured out myself and don’t think I’ve found the right balance yet. I do know that in exercising and getting physically stronger I have started to worry less about facial aging because I feel more energized.
I feel Tixel was probably a good option a few years back. It gave me a slight lift which was helpful but nothing close to surgical results.

You're very welcome! 🥰
Honestly honest channel . Love your voice and suggestions . Great work
Thank you 😊
Hi Clare, I'm ok with the neck area, even though I do nothing really, but I watched this anyway - just in case I need to know for the future.

How do you not do the gel? DO you use anything else while using the ZIIP?
@@AhFeiLee Pretty much just damp skin.

I use mineral sunscreens and will be doing a video in the next couple of weeks setting out why along with what I think are some of the better options available. Hope you'll find that helpful.
Drmtlgy brand has a tinted moisturizer/sunscreen (SPF 45) that is lightweight & gives a lovely allover glow. I absolutely LOVE it!
Excellent as always. What LED light unit are you using? red plus orange?
Thanks David. Really appreciate that. I use just a red light panel which has a pulsed or constant option.
You're funny, I'm exactly the same way with the thoughts of wanting to stay wo facelift and then the next day wishing I could get one.

Which device should i avoid if i want to prevent exacerbating my hyperpigmentation. I want to focus on minimizing my nasolabial folds
These devices cost a lot of $ and I've decided to save up that device $ and have it go to non-invasive procedures instead.
That’s right and apologies for the slip-up.

Yes, I've used the Qure at home device which I liked and have had a couple of clinical microneedling treatments too. I think it's good for improving the skin surface but isn't going to make a big difference to more advanced signs of sagging and jowls in my view.

Yes, accidental omission there. Happens sometimes when you’re filming.
What do you recommend for your mom? We all turn 80. Really we don’t want to look it.
