You sure the engine will slide out of the mounts now that there’s so much angle? Seems like it’s going to be stuck down in the narrower portion of the opening of both sides are in.

Now with the engine mounts at that angle, the whole easy slide in feature isn’t going to work.

TBG4ming12 I get that part of it. Cause the other way puts the stress on the bolt, and not the rubber mount. But you could actually side the engine straight up.
Now that the mounts are so vertical, you would have to slide left or right, and because they’re opposite, you just can’t slide them in, or out. So pointless.
My thoughts exactly. Though, It’s a lot easier to criticize from the outside looking in. I will say, I appreciate all the hard work they’re putting in though and hopefully they’ll address this in a future episode.
they should of went solid mount if they wanted the slide in brackets to work, lol they will figure it out next time they take engine out!

You guys should get check out steel-it ! Or really any weld through galvanizing spray for all the fab your doing, especially if you want it to last a while.

How are the mounts going to slide in and out with that much angle? I don’t get it.

Just a recommendation on the backside of the motor mount fish mouth piece drill a hole a bit bigger hole than the socket that fits the nut on the motor mount that slips in so you can tighten them up easier.
Cali Ways - the nuts are plenty easy to access.

Hoonigan has 2 different k series mount that way in a s14 and 370z so in theory just watch how they did it and you can do the civic similarly. .

Mickey here's a tech tip...you want to know what the best template material is? the cardboard from your cereal box, Eggos box, Rice-a-Roni box or anything similar. it's thinner and easier to cut than that stuff you were using. happy New year guys💪

Forget my comment on a previous video about the traction rods 😅 what is interesting with your EK is it appears to have EG/DC lower control arms, all the EKs I have seen have a one piece lower control arm and compliance arm, the EG/DC compliance arm being in 2 pieces allows you to run shims between them to get up to 3 degrees of extra caster, and EF/DAs run a traction bar and rods like you now have on the EK, which you qill be able to use to change the caster which is cool. One thing I am wondering is how you are going to change the rear toe settings now that you have custom trailing arms that have deleted the factory rear toe arms

Not trying to be a dick by any means but gunmetal rwd civic it is an ek and was a kseries about 4yrs ago .. so your not the first but very quality build my brotha ... once thing I can tell you def build a oil pan with a baffle to stop oil slosh under launch .. it starve that motor for oil instantly .. keep up the good work my brotha

Nice build! Quick question, if your fish mouth engine mounts are at an angle on both sides, how will you be able to slide in or slide out the engine?
So our first design worked that way .. but it wasn't functional... the motor mount will be working overtime to hold the engine up ... and also .. if the motor mounts brake or go bad there will be nothing holding the motor in place other than the subframe.... so by us changing the mounts to a 30deg not only will the supports will help the motor mounts but if they ever go out at least the mount holders will hold the engine in place .... as your question about sliding them in ... yes ... we have to slide them in first to the mount and then the engine block 🤷♂️ not the best results but is a better solution.

Gunmetal the RWD Civic - That’s badass! What did you do to mount the engine? Custom or existing subframe?
@@mickeyandrade3435 we made a tubular k member, and bolted the engine to it using a mid plate and saddle mounts.

Hate to be critical of anyone's work but it looks like the engine may not pull straight up with the those engine mounts unless you remove the bolts from the base plates on the block side. The motor mounts on the chassis side are designed to slide down into the slot which may not work well with the angle and the stud shaft on the engine side of the mount looks too long for the engine to come straight up and out. My keyboard warrior opinion is mounts that come straight out from the block with the mounts below would allow the engine to to pull straight up and out. Maybe I'm wrong since I'm not there?

Lol yeah it takes around 60 tons with the right tooling to bend 3/16 steel.

I'm not an expert, but the ears you cut off that tensioner are for an idler pulley you will need to run without the power steering pump. Might have to go center feed on the manifold.

@@dutchnova3468 if you remove the power steering pump from a k series you have to run an idler pulley that attaches to the ears they cut off of the tensioner
