This man can SING! This is the best of blue-eyed soul! Bobby has an amazing voice. I believe he's got a 4 octave range! Remember....no autotune or tricky studio gimmicks at that time....just pure raw talent! Loved your reaction Cordale.
This is done LIVE, no auto-tune! Their live performances are in my opinion better than the recorded tamer versions. Bobby has an amazing voice and the Righteous Brothers have a fascinating history. I read their first song, Latin Lupe Lu was too "black" for the white radio stations and when the black DJs found out they were white, they didn't know what to do. Some nicknamed their early music, blue-eyed soul. They finally were played on black stations and then white stations. They opened a door to mix it up.
R.I.P. Mr. Bobby Hatfield, you never get old. If you haven't heard Bill Medley sang Brown Eyed Woman, please listen to it. Bill sings with the Blossoms.
I love seeing peoples eyes light up when Bobby sings. Bobby rocks with soul and he serenades with soul. Love me sum Bobby Hatfield may he RIP. Thanks for the review. I liked watching your reaction. Check out Bobby doing 'My Prayer'. Peace.
THIS !!!! Is the Righteous Brothers!!! They would bring the house down every week on Shindig with their "No Holds Barred" R&B. The love songs that were written for them and their version of Unchained Melody which became hits were the best of the best but it was their performances with a live band, singers and dancers that captured us all. If you want more of this then watch them both let it rip on the old black & white videos from Shindig. Suggestions: "I Need Your Loving Everyday", "You are My Sunshine", "Justine", "Ko Ko Joe" and "Bring It On Home to Me". For fun try these: "Poison Ivy", "Little Latin Lupe Lu" from the Shindig Pilot Episode (other videos of this were chopped up pretty bad) and "My Babe" (the older video showing them in dark suits); the prank in the beginning had me laughing. Do not miss these amazing performances.
HAS to see (1). Righteous Brothers Soul and Inspiration, and (2) I Just Want to Make Love to You, (3) Bobby singing Unchained Melody, (4) Bill singing Brown eyed Woman. .... And then there's Janis Joplin Summertime and Ball and Chain..that in a different league altogether. Haven't lived til you see this!
