When they recorded Little Latin Lupe Lu, as a duo, they needed a name to put on the record. They couldn't use The Paramours since it was only the two of them. Bobby suggested they use the name the marines were calling them.

Unfortunately, in the 50s & 60s, some singers were pigeonholed into a certain genre of music & were never really able to show everything they had & could do. Great stuff that is hardly played at all these days. The reaction videos I've seen so far on You Tube on the Righteous Brothers always seem to be from their career on the Philles label, when they were given a lot of old, slow standards to re-do. The Philles songs were bigger hits for them than the Moonglow days, but the music is very different. Play those early rockers -- that's where they got the name "Righteous"!
