This is going to sound very cold, but I feel no compassion at all for Zulema. She is manipulative and knew exactly what was going on. I think she (Zulema) and Melanie Gibb should also be charged for complicity. They both knew what was going on - they knew the kids, Charles and Tammy were murdered. I do hope they are held accountable too.

Thembela you do NOT need to be ashamed whatsoever for your opinion or think that you are being cold, this is what it is, Zulema is just like chad and Lori!......the truth is most people see the truth here, NO doubt Zulema plays like she is some kind of victim when the reality is SHE IS A MONSTER!

I think Lori's mom and sister should be, as well. Her brother, Adam, tried to warn them and tried to help Charles. Lori's family ostracized him, labeled him a traitor, and basically disowned him. They knew Charles and the kids were in danger and enabled/covered up for Lori and Alex. The sister supposedly finally came around, but the entire family is an amoral, narcissistic, despicable mess, there is an outrageous body count that surrounds them--any reasonable human being would start to question why so many people in their orbit die under odd circumstances--and they should be held accountable, too.

    • @ppw2393

I agree about Lori’s mom and sister. It seems these cult members are like children playing games for excitement. The ridiculous belief system of Mormon s conditions people for this mind set. Also living in small towns with little excitement, these groups become social clubs. As for not having a voice or being raised with praise isn’t unusual for anyone born prior to the 70’s. The need to feel you have super powers is usually left in childhood.

I suspect that the prosecutor gave some of these folks the choice of being tried as conspirators or testifying against the worst two. Unfortunately this is sometimes necessary to ensure the conviction of the actual, hands on murderers. We have to think-what if Lori were found innocent for the sake of them being charged with conspiracy. We are all looking at this from a different viewpoint of outrage for these innocent victims. One thing, none of these people will escape the court of public opinion, and you can bet everyone will keep an eye on them.

    • @mtaylor7307
      @mtaylor7307 ปีที่แล้ว

@@justkiddin84 I agree. And I also don't think that these cult members or others from that belief system have stopped being dangerous. Julie Rowe was Chad's best published author and in the summer of 2022, she gave a conference about Zombies. The AVOW crowd was basically super sized because of the teachings of Chad's although now they scrubbed him from their website. Minus the murder, those fringe believers are still out there in numbers too large for the mainstream LDS to squelch. This happened in the 1960s too with that LDS offshoot called The Church Of The First Born. Chad was trying to resurrect what the LDS finally squelched in the late 60s. Splinters remained. Look how rapidly AVOW and the PAP have grown? There is a market for these end times teachings and "other-ation" nation mentality.

Trauma as our foundation makes life as a whole complicated - to put it lightly. I say that from experience.
I appreciate how you try to lay that out, Dr. John. It personally reminds me of the “radical acceptance” skill in DBT, it’s NOT approval, rather is acknowledging reality for what it is.
For those of us who have lived through childhood trauma - which seems to be much higher than what I’ve observed is formally recognized - as adults WE have to put in the hard work of reparenting our innerchild, doing trauma therapy, DBT, psychotherapy, trying any type of therapy to help ourselves effectively live in the present while we still struggle with the past. While what happened to ourselves as a child wasn’t our fault, it becomes our responsibility as adults to heal.
Reflecting on my own journey of breaking out a abuse cycle - OTHER people helped me. I continuously fight for myself and I also recognize the importance of others in my life who were instrumental before I fully broke away from the own abuse I dealt with. I’m not giving an excuse to Zulema, from what I heard from Dr. John is instead of finding instrumental individuals to demonstrate healthy boundaries, love, etc. she found abusers who felt familiar to her, easily could have snared her with love-bombing / fantastical claims for the future to fill an empty sense of self.
🫂 For anyone who can relate to childhood abuse:
When we don’t face the past - we repeat it. Growing up, when I would try to discuss something problematic my abuser did, they would dismiss it by saying - that’s in the past. Don’t let people do this to you, it’s invalidating and dismisses your lived experience. Yes, it happened in the past AND presently there is have a problem with how that behavior is affecting oneself. Be a broken record. Best case scenario the person in your life who pulled that line was busy and didn’t realize it hurt you - worst case this individual might start undermining you in different ways. Maintain the original request, be a broken record ♥️ this is an aspect of the “DEAR MAN” skill from interpersonal effectiveness skills in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Sending love 🫂

Many people have been severely harmed by an abusive upbringing but the vast majority of them and mentally ill people do not commit crimes! Many people with mental health challenges are highly offended by the common association because they are law-abiding citizens who any times parent the opposite way of their own abusive parents.

It's very difficult to find on toxicology sometimes the culprit because you have to order the test. If you don't know the compound to request, it won't be detected. Honestly, I sometimes think that nice, middle class people who get into clinical psychology and psychiatry forget that these are not patients who have come forward for help.
They are people in trouble with the law.
With a patient, you have to have a working assumption that they are doing their best to tell the truth, because they want a better life.
But these are people who casually accepted the literal monstering and dehumanisation of Charles and the children he was anxious ro protect. That they were demons, zombies, who deserved to be annihilated - by their own caregivers! And for no particular deed, just for being “dark”.
And now they are finally talking, their purpose is to avoid prosecution. The “benefit of the doubt”, the presumption that they are trying to be honest as a patient - that presumption is uncalled-for.
Not a moral bone in her body.

I grew up in abusive households, though not as bad as Zulema's situation. For me, after I was old enough to leave home, I continued to choose relationships that were abusive. I didn't understand it until years later. I finally stopped the relationships and just worked on myself. Facing my own shadow (so to speak). Learning to love myself was/is tough, especially when the abuse taught me to hate myself. It is still a learning experience and I'm working on 'me' each day. Seems to me Zulema found some kind of peace/love in the situation with Chad and Lori. She wanted to fit in and they really continued to stroke her ego to make her feel special. Also, I can only imagine how scary it would be to see others being labeled as dark and then ending up dead. This is not a group of people you would want to disagree with, at least not openly. I'm not excusing her behavior, though, and the fact that she didn't go to the authorities is very sad. However, I DO understand some of the reasoning behind it. But I'm no psychological doctor, I can only derive my opinion from my experiences. Nothing excuses murder, along with other bad behaviors, but there are reasons. Thank you for the work you are doing. In the end, however, I DO think she knows a lot more than she says.

Maybe it helps to compare Zulema & the Melanies to James & Jennifer Crumbley. Arguably, these women were more on notice of people potentially dying in the wake of their religious activities & were in a position to stop it. I find Zulema to be extremely glib and callous & superficial behind her childlike naive pose, kind of reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe. I think she uses the veneer of infant-like bewilderment as a camouflage for her basic callousness. I wonder if she could be called a Histrionic sociopath? Whereas Lori is half crazy, I think Zulema & the Melanies are more straight-up clear-headed callous manipulators.

I find it hard to believe anything Zulema says, judging from the manipulation that has been attributed to her, so it seems thinking she was abused in childhood falls right into the beginning of her manipulating your sympathies. If you do indeed believe she was molested, I think you should also look at the alternate scenario of not believing she was molested. I think Zulema is a constant in the poisonings and has something to do with the fact no one has nailed down exactly what is causing these "lung" problems leading to death.

I was chilled when Zulema talked about hearing Alex talking but not sure and though she was trying to wake up she couldn't. Surely PD's are a possibility, NPD for example, would appear to tie in to the Not Knowing who she IS?
And would certainly make Z very vulnerable to cult action upon her and also her attraction to having Power, Agency.
But even so, as sympathetic as i can be to the horror she had to live, is it those childhood experiences that "allowed' zulrma to turn her back on Charles, (edit, and Tammy) and probably Tylee and jj, when she had guilty knowledge?
I struggle with this, its so COLD. Maybe there is a derealisation effect at play?
Zulema's mind as an Aquarium analogy takes on a sick and noir humour when you consider it is the aquatic life treatment "Malachite Green" (which is the toxic substance, not the stone, in my understanding).
Melanie Gibb makes my skin crawl - what is HER excuse for putting herself over the very LIVES of others, tylee, jj, tammy..?!

Melanie Gibbs excuse....I can ASSURE you that she is possessed by legions of demons, just as her FORMER 2nd husband David Warlock, Chad, Lori, Alex, Ian & Mel Palowski, along w those supporting and embracing the demonic teaching of the fringe offshoots...if only people would simply stick to the teachings of the Bible especially the state of the Dead.
If you go to Heaven the minute you die would mean that Satan did NOT LIE to Eve when he said "Surely you will NOT DIE...I know a lot of people like to quote out of context."Absent from the body present with the Lord"... but that doesn't mean all the other hundreds of verses in Scripture that tell us that when we die we are ASLEEP, our very thoughts perish, we know not anything. we don't praise Him, as we have NO THOUGHTS.
The Story of Lazarus Jesus Friend who died several days and his friends warned him that his body stinks.
But Jesus didn't call him down from Heaven when he called Lazarus to "come forth".....if people stuck with those Bible truths about the state of the Dead we wouldn't have all these crazy ideas.
Would it be Heavenly or wonderful if we are in Heaven able to see what is taking place on planet Earth with our loved ones and watching our loved ones being tortured with grief and tragedy and their their missing us or seeing the world go to another War where Millions are killed and slaughtered an innocent children being sex trafficking...
is that Heaven? I think not and it's why I will continue to Bible truth and believe what the Bible says..that we' are in the grave, asleep, waiting for that last trumpet to sound and the graves will open ... every eye shall see him and Jesus will be with a cloud of angels who will gather His own and our angels well Rapture us and cake those who are asleep in Him up into heaven to meet Jesus as He will not touch Earth until it is cleansed.
If you want to know the Bible truth about the state of the Dead just go to "Amazing Facts.org" your eyes will be opened too biblical truth the Bible says let no man deceive you!

This woman is a manipulative liar who wants the police to pity her . A lot of us have terrible pasts , so I don’t fall for the “abused card”
She was a conspirator to murder of Tylee, Charles, Tammy and Jj……let’s free everyone in prison because most of them play the same card to get out of the situation they caused .
No pity for evil people who hides behind god

Exactly what I was wondering too. NPD was what springs to mind, including the lack of empathy and no accountability

She knew something was supposed to happen to Charles. It doesn't happen for awhile. Then he was shot by Alex. The average person would go "wait what?". But Zulema, Melanie G and Melani P then saw Tammy die, JJ and Tylee disappear. Somewhere in their own minds they must have feared they might be next. Melanie G. really had no choice but to go to the police when she realized the children were probably dead.

I so much appreciate Dr. John's deep understanding of human nature and in Zulema's case, how people are drawn into and behave in cults.
Seems to me, since the cult expected most of the human race would be soon wiped out, it's not surprising they tolerated a few people dying ahead of such mass destruction.

Is it possible Chad wanted Zulema and Alex to move to his (Chads) home in Rexberg so if the children were found Zulema and Alex would be help responsible? Lori and Chad could go off and work on their mission....
