  • Anycubic Vyper Sensor Fault - I've noticed since the Vyper has been heading to users homes that there appear to be a small number of people with a sensor probing problem or that the hot end is crashing into the heated bed.

    I reported this back to anycubic a couple of weeks ago and together we have been looking for the solution. I thought my issue was an isolated innocent as the hot-end crashed and went off centre.

      Hey dude! It seems that if you have the problem it tends to be instant. There looks to be a faulty batch of sensors as the replacement is working really well now. It’s frustrating to new users and disappointing.. it’s just one of those things and a great example of new product in the wild experiencing a major issue which looks previously undiagnosed.

    • @karlburmeister1552
      @karlburmeister1552 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRealSamPrentice It wasn't instant on mine. It worked fine for a month. The problem is in the design. If it happens to hit a bump in the print it'll stress the gauge and they are really sensitive. It's just a poor design that should be done away with.

    Hi Sam. Got a Vyper on 2nd October 2021 and it printed the 'owl'and that came out really well. Quite impressive. (Should say I have now had 4 Anycubic printers - 2 x i3 Megas, 1 x i3 Mega Pro, and now the Vyper. The first 3 have been good, solid workhorses).
    Now the Vyper - as I say, it initially printed very well for 3 or 4 small prints, then simply stopped. After some hassles with Anycubic Support, I finally managed to upgrade the firmware to v2.4.5, which I was assured would fix the problem - it didn't. After another prolonged bout of communication with Support they sent me a new Sensor Gauge. I waited four weeks for it then installed it per their video instructions. Still won't work and when I hit 'auto-level' the entire machine just freezes and I have to turn off the power.
    After watching your video I have decided to re-do the fitting of the sensor gauge (although I know I did it correctly ) and see what happens. At the moment, Anycubic don't seem t be able to help with this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed as the machine is only a few months old and has only printed 3-4 things and is now 'useless'.
    Cheers, Noel

    Hey, thanks a lot for the video. I'm having the same issue with my Vyper. Assembled it today, autoleveled, made the owl, tried a second print and it just started crashing into the heat bed. Reading all these comments makes me feel a bit comforted that I'm not the only one but that it's common - though it of course is a bit sad that it's a common issue in the first place.

    Hey, I've had a vyper for a few years now, just ran into this issue, and I was able to fix it by bending the calibration sensor back into place, so i think the assumption that it uses the contact to the PCB below it is correct. It had probably gotten mangled a bit when I moved and now it seems to be doing great. I wouldn't exactly suggest doing it, but if you're thinking about replacing it anyway, I'd suggest giving it a shot.

    Got my vyper this morning direct from Anycubic, managed to get the owl file printed then immediately had the strain gauge failure - exactly as demonstrated in the video. Have a support case open with Anycubic so we’ll see how this goes. According to the card that came with it mine was actually manufactured in mid July, so they may still have been unknowingly working through a bad batch of components around them. Does suggest they’re not doing a lot of QA if the thing fails after one print though…

  • @johnsamu
    @johnsamu ปีที่แล้ว

    I am writing this in 2023 now.
    The "faulty sensor/switch" problem was possibly caused by a bad batch of sensors.
    The "crashing problem" is prevented by having to push the printnozzle with a tool (the sofware requires this action).
    The nozzle/sensor will be activated (LED behind the cover).
    If the sensor is faulty the auto-level cycle won't start. So crashing shouldn't be possible anymore.
    It's always better to buy a device 3D printer, car or whatever AFTER it has been on the market for a few years.
    Early production runs of any device are prone to faults/errors.
    I trust that Anycube is checking the quality of their supplied sensors now more carefully because this problem has happened.
    Very often producers of machines/devices don't check the parts they receive very thoroughly because that's a task of the suppliers.

    I just got my Vyper about 2 weeks ago. Today, I noticed that the hot end is loose. If I were to push on the bowden tube on top or even slightly on the nozzle, the whole things moves. I imagine it's not supposed to be like that? I'm new to 3D printing but my Mega X certainly doesn't do that

    • @TheRealSamPrentice
      @TheRealSamPrentice  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chris, is the hot end loose as in the screws that hold it in place have movement ? Or the the hot end (parts) are loose. The way this is designed allows movement via the strain gauge so you will get a bit of movement. I also have the mega x and s these printers are very different and there is really little more than the brand name to compare them on.

      @@TheRealSamPrentice So, after a few hours of pulling parts, some trial and error and a little bit of swearing, I figured out the issue. The screws for the strain gauge were lose for one. @@TheRealSamPrentice Ok so 4 months ago I told you that the aftersale service by Anycubic was great, but since this video gathers the community of users or people interested in this printer and Anycubic I'd like to tell you about my terrible experience with them.
      Long story short: I bought the printer, it didn't work, they sent me replacement parts, didn't work anyways. So after exchanging e-mails they told me they could replace my Vyper for a brand new one. So I sent the printer back to their warehouse (in my case I had to pay a very expensive shipment, so i've spend the money for buying the printer PLUS the shipping service).
      Since the package was recieved in their warehouse, I haven't got any e-mails. I've sent about 3 e-mails to them but it's like they just ignore me. I'm really upset about this.
      It's important to bring this cases to the community. I feel scammed and this is probably the worst experience I've had as a costumer in a long time. I've seen a lot of people happily using their Vypers but the fact that this has happened to me means it could happen to others. Please do your research and, FROM MY EXPERIENCE, think twice when it comes to Anycubic.

Then I did the auto levelling and the nozzle pushed hard on the bed causing it to push down a bit... it then went back up and touched the bed again but stopped as soon as it touched, it then went on to level the bed fine, every other time it touched the bed with the nozzle it stopped moving and went back up to do the second touch before moving on... I am worried the sensor might be gone? But why would the other points work fine?

Also, I grabbed my scraper tool and used it to softly push on the nozzle and I could see the red light come on with minimal force... You can check this by setting the target fan speed at 50% via Tools/Speed in the touchdisplay without printing. Seems to be an electrical sound, not only the fan.

    Mine worked fine the first try. Tried repeating the leveling a couple days later, and this happened.

      Follow-up: it took two weeks shipping time, but I received a replacement sensor, and all is good

      I’d suggest you flash the new firmware or adjust the y axis stop switch on

    I had the exact same problem with not the exact same results. Contacting Anycubic is a pain in the ass. They make you fill out some bs form. Give you the run around for days on end. That saw me just sending the product back for a refund. Just avoid this model all together. Junk.
