@@billwilson3665 - Don't be stupid! There isn't some conspiracy that values hourly wage workers in low level positions of local government more than they value other citizens. A little common sense will tell you the pandemic took everyone by surprise and states do not have enough staff to process the HUGE increase in applications. They are all hiring more staff and trying to streamline the process, but the system is over taxed. Throughout most of history there wasn't any government system to offer this aid and in many countries that's still the case. Be grateful help is coming eventually.
Mrs. Butterworth, I know in my state they are saying it takes about 5 weeks from the time of application. It's rough. In the meantime, make sure you apply for food stamps. Also, landlords, mortgage companies, and utility companies are working with people to postpone and lower payments during this crisis. Talk to them about your situation to find out what your options are. Wish you well!

My SO’s benefits ran out a month and a half ago.She recently received a notice from New Jersey unemployment that says she can claim her extended 13 weeks extension benefits this week including the weeks shes missed. Can she still claim the weeks that she didnt work if she just started working last week. And will receiving those extended benefits keep her from being eligible for unemployment again

My claim issues say " work performance" and " qualified with relief" what do both of those mean?
Washington state gig worker here. Offers have completely dried up. I've applied for unemployment and was declared ineligible because I worked 0 hours last year, which is nonsense. Washington's unemployment benefits site says they are waiting for a program to be available, with mid-April being the target. I have only enough emergency money to survive until June 1st (my own fault, I know), longer if I quit paying rent this month. Any advice on what I should be doing right now in order to increase my odds of getting benefits while waiting?

Once the initial Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claim is submitted do I have to file it weekly just like regular Unemployment Insurance?

my wife is an independent contractor ..does she needs to apply for umemployment assistance first and then on the 10 pages questions base on her answers she will be directed to apply for an independent contractor...I dont see the pua application .. it is soo confusing

i am letter c for unemployment independent contractor and it says it is only Monday..i missed the day can i still apply on line and submitted today which is Tuesday ? what happened if i do that .. the web will still get my application or it will be rejected

There is no pua on texasworkforce for 1099 though. Only for w2 unemployment benefits.

Make sure you are going to the website for the NY State unemployment office, not the national dept of labor web page. It's an online application.
what happens if you didn't know about any of this until now the ( UI ) cause i had a job but i stop going cause of the pandemic and so i had to stay home and now they called and ask if i was going to be able to go back i said yes but only for 2 months because im going to start college and they said they cant take me back if im only going to be there only two months and so now i got a letter saying that im not employed anymore

You will not be eligible for your state's regular UI if you earn more than their maximum weekly pay out which is usually small. Minimum wage at 40 hours a week would put you over. However, I don''t know about the PUA. It wouldn't hurt to apply for that. Maybe you might get that one because you have reduced hours due to COVID19. Best wishes!
Hello, I have a couple of questions. I am in Texas, are we supposed to do something extra when filing for unemployment to get the extra $600. I don't know about other states but here in Texas, it is ridiculous what all we have to do to get just the unemployment and the TWC absolutely do not and will not go the little extra mile to give you a little help as far as the steps you have to take to file. You want to know how to file you better have a list of questions to ask them ready to go and hope that you are some kind of psychic and know that you have to log in request a check for week 3/1-3/7 go through a three-page of questions all about wanting you to look for employment, how many jobs have you applied to, etc.. there is nothing about the extra $600. I went back and checked 24hrs later and it only shows unemployment nothing about the $600. 2nd question I had heard on the news here in Texas that they were going to be paying everyone's full salary amount is this true? Because the benefits do not reflect that when I checked the benefit amount. Lastly, Would one qualify if they were not able to work due to taken care of someone that has Parkinson's & Scoliosis and requires around the clock care? They had started seeking some kind of home employment or part-time employment when this crisis hit. They definitely have been stopped in their track in trying to get employment now in order to keep the very high-risk person safe. Would they qualify for the $600 or is there something out there for these people? Sorry, my message is so long. Thank you for any help!!

I have a complex filing due to the facts that I am a senior retired workers receiving Retirement but I am also working on a program that gives me a major deduction on my medical co-[ay. I could not live if I had to pay the medical co-pay and the job program is needed. I worked right up to the stay at home order here in San Francisco and I worked in Conventions and Trade Shows, which, of course have been suspended. I saw that workers who are working as Temp workers qualify during this crisis. I believe I've made enough up to the date of the stay home order to cover my income requirements to qualify for the work programs requirements for income. My questions are: Does unemployment benefits figure in in filing taxes as income? Will unemployment be given weekly for those of us who do not have jobs that have weekly schedules. My work schedule comes in the form of individual job assignments, about 2 a month, for assignments that are 3 to 5 days and the pay comes via direct deposit at different schedules. One company sends out checks bi-weekly and anther may pay weekly. Will I get unemployment in the form of weekly or monthly payments? Any other seniors in my situation that can give me their experience would be greatly appreciated.
I have a very serious question about receiving possible unemployment benefits. I and my two children immigrated to this country (into California) and arrived on February 7, 2020. I arrived on a CR1 visa and joined my husband here at that time. I completed the necessary paperwork and received my Social Security card along with my green card many months later due to Homeland Security paperwork holdups, etc. I have been able to work for the last two months now after having received my green card and I cannot seem to find a job anywhere. try march 4th over here... they denied me, after I was just collecting benefits for a couple months, and now there telling me I didn't make anything on the base period... not what my w2 said... oh and they delivered the notice and appeal paper work to the wrong address, and now the IRS is telling me I owe money for the first time in a decade of construction work... shit is a fucking joke

I applied 5 weeks ago. Im in Wisconsin. I tried calling, but cant get throu. No letter, no call. All it says is its being reviewed. Im getting stressed. I have bills. What do i do. Cant get any answers. And for the extra $600 weekly and filing biweekly, no one can. It says online that until they hear something from the govt and after they update there system. But then other states are alreafy doing this. Really.

34 yo single mom of 4 in Kentucky. Laid off bc of the pandemic in March and later fired in May bc I couldn't return to work due to schools and daycares being closed. I don't recieve child support and don't qualify for KTAP bc I'm a convicted felon. Filed for unemployment March 15th and still I've recieved no payment. I've made countless calls to OUI, my state representative, and the governor's office. I've sent dozens of emails and finally drove an hour and a half Monday for an appointment to meet with OUI employee in person and get my claim straightened out. I requested benefits Tuesday so hopefully by Friday I'll be paid. If not we'll be homeless soon.

I am a single mother I have twins now 2 years old and my 13 year old daughter who lives with her dad he is the costodial parent. I started the jobs plus program the week before the stay at home order took effect in Oregon. I did not receive my stimulus check because I owe back child support for my daughter. I am wondering if I am eligible for the 600 pandemic unemployment money because I was entering the jobs program before the pandemic. I was aloud an extension on the jobs program longer than normal because one of my twin boys had medical condition that required extra care and physical therapy weekly once he was done with his treatment I started the program now I am still unable to work and I haven't received any relief package besides tanif. Can I apply for unemployment if I wasn't working but I was in a jobs program? Thanks
I have to say that while these benefits and the $1200 are somewhat of an improvement over what existed before and better than nothing, people should be able to expect more than "better than nothing" from elected representatives. Seeing pennies get slowly & begrudgingly handed out to ordinary citizens (and only if they're willing and able to navigate the convoluted bureaucratic maze) while huge sums are created and handed over to plutocrats is, well, somehow shocking and not surprising at the same time. Why did you allow this to happen?

The best way to apply is online. DOL has a streamlined application that allows you to apply for either traditional UI or PUA, depending on their eligibility. You do not have to complete a separate application for PUA.
I ve called the main number is not even ringing is gets desconected automatically because I have many questions I dont want to submit an application and be deny..
They denied me and i just sent out a letter to appeal their bullshit decision. No one should be denied at a time like this 😒

Basically i was shy of under 300 bucks to obtain my regular unemployment benefits but when i called and spoke with a rep she told me that it should be overturned because they needed to update the system, so that those who would be denied under normal circumstances, would get approved due to the Covid 19

i have been out of work since 3/13 due to corona. I have recieved 58.00 only and I have been approved but lost in the system.
I applied in March 2020. I was told December 26th I exhausted my Benefits. I received a few more checks and then I received a letter saying they Overpaid me $8,560. But my 1099 says I recieved $ 15,278. But their saying I recieved $62,680 but I don't believe that is accurate

Didn't affect me owing child support. I got $765 a week since 3/29 & a nice grant 2 weeks ago. Plus I'm still employed but at only 1/2 the hrs. So for ppl who want to put down others who owe child support not all of us are deadbeats. And guess what I get the 2nd stimulus check too. I was denied because I had to update my security license but I’m trying to explain this came right around COVID 19 I had my license for 7 years I would never , I like to work for mines !! So I have emails and text to my boss asking around April for extra hours and pay because we was working during the pandemic and it was hard to get other employment , I was buying extra products to stay safe my rent was getting backed up and I got sick around that time it wasn’t COVID but it was a flu type cause I throw up at work until I was throwing up green stuff , so this all had to with spending extra money and the stress of the pandemic. Regarding the $1200.00 Stimulus payment. There is a group who are not eligible and that would be those who owe back child support. Regardless of if they have been paying for the last month or last ten years and are almost done paying it, they are not eligible. Those in that group are still vulnerable to the disease and to the effects of the pandemic. Do they not still bleed? I am not trying to advocate helping deadbeats but I do advocate the love and help for anyone who may in fact need it.
