Oh, I forgot to say, "Great job Tom on the a/c unit". My father was one of those guys that could, and did fix everything. Unfortunately when I married I didn't marry that type of guy, but because I was my father's daughter and was always involved in helping him fix things I followed him everywhere and learned a real desire to fix things, so in my family I'm the fix everything person. Car needs brakes, no problem, the house needs to be rewired, no problem, gotta put in new windows, just do it. It just seems natural to do/fix whatever the next project. And I love doing it. So great job, once again Tom !!

May I suggest that you make a written list for the camper? When I travel, it makes me less anxious to know that if I have packed everything on my list, I haven't forgotten anything. I enjoy your posts so much. Your way of affirming your husband is an amazing example to us all.

I keep me camping list i my journal. It has a ribbon bookmark so I can find it every time. On each camping trip, If we have discovered a new need or want I make note of it in my phone and then add it to the list. ~ Maria

I'm an introvert, but even I am tired of not being able to go anywhere (and I live on an island and have had to cancel a couple trips). So I'm so excited for you guys that you get to go on a little trip! Also, this might just be a me thing, but I always wonder why people don't take their labels off their plastic storage containers. At our home they often don't take them off the bottom of dishes. I'm always scraping things off. Loved the sponge paint, adds character. I'm the same way about diy. My dad has mentioned he's astonished that I can sit for hours doing things like scrapbooking.
My husband and I have about the same difference in height like you and Tom. Our 3 kids are still smaller than me. We took 3 square mirrors and mounted them onto the wall, staircase-shaped. So everybody has the perfect view. Plus it's looking decorative.
Perhaps a laminated CAMPER CHECK LIST that lives inside a cabinet door? Everybody have a 'family meeting' to decide what belongs on it, and keep it in your computer for a while, until y'all feel its complete, then laminate it, and give it a home in the camper. Maybe have one for each person?? HOW FUN TO CREATE YOUR FAMILY TRAVEL MEMORIES! May all your journeys be blessed and safe! : )
The bathroom walls turned out great! I totally understand that need for kind of mindless, repetitive yet creative time on a project. I'm a quilter, which is many hours of lots of little tasks that are kind of mind-numbing. But I'm convinced that our brains need a little "numbness" or resting time to quiet down and get ready for the hurly-burly of the rest of our lives. And when you're done, you have a completely unique finished project you can be proud of :)

We have a camper that we keep at a campground year round. We are amazed at how very little we need while at camp. It was very enlightening and encouraged us to purge a lot of what we have in our home knowing how much better a simpler life can be. Thank you for your positive, family videos. Hi Joy!!! OK you have a camper outside in somewhat what might be a wooded or whatever area, like me. How in the world do you keep the mice from totally ruining your camper and eating out all your insulation and living in the drawers???? I’ll HOPEFULLY, ((ohhh TOOMM!! I’m a very short 5 hrs south east of you!! I’ll PAY!!!) planning to remove the drawers, because it is the place mice 🐭 🐁 ALWAYS have a nest. I can stand a lot of things. I’m 61 I’ve been around the block a day or two. But I just can’t Flippin stand mice! I tolerate snakes in the world better than I do snakes in my camper. I guess I would hate snakes in my camper just as well as I hate the mice. And when the mice are outside I don’t care we care if they’re outside it’s fine by me they live there. And in all reality I moved into their space and I always keep that in mind. They were there before the camper ever was🐭 💥!!! I haven’t been able to camp in SEVERAL YEARS because of my fibromyalgia/arthritis illnesses, Up until one week ago my daughter was bringing me my meals in bed. Literally. I am on taking a new herb now that has begun to give my life back, Take away my pain and even let me sleep sound at night. I am so amazed. I wish I had tried this many years earlier, and not been leery of it. JUST This past week has been absolutely AMAZING!! (I will cleaclimb off my pedestal now😉)

Nan ‘59 my husband sealed EVERY STINKIN’ crack and crevice. They can get in anywhere there is an open area as small as an eraser. I also use peppermint oil all winter. There were mice in residence when we bought the trailer but they have all been evicted. You need to figure out where/how they are getting in. Sorry that is all I have to offer you. I hope you feel completely better soon and can start camping again.
Nan’59 I have fibromyalgia pretty bad and I’m struggling to stay out of the bed....would you mind sharing the name of what has helped you? I know everyone is dif but I would like to check into it pls. Thank you!

Also, on the mice, we have been using an ultrasonic plug in device from Amazon that makes a sound the mice don't like, but we can't hear it. We have them plugged in at the pole garage and such, and they seem to help a lot. No mice jumping out of the tool chests, now, anyway. :D My sister has a thing they use in their RV, I think it is Fresh Cab. It is natural, but strong-smelling. I have also used dryer sheets in the past, the ones with very strong odor, such as Bounce original type dryer sheets. Also works to keep moths out of clothing in boxes.
I love how the bathroom turned out and your towel hooks in the shower was a huge ah-ha moment! We are totally doing that in our camper. Never thought to use that space to help hang towels. We try to hang towels for a family of 6 on the door and they never dry out. Thanks for the simple but great idea!

I cannot get over how cute this camper is now!! I hadn't seen the kitchen curtains or the sofa redone and the sponge painting was spot on. I loved packing our camper... i think it felt like adult version of playing house like when I was little. My kids had sleepovers with friends when we had it parked at home. If it was my DIY camper, (and you know there's 194K viewers imagining it WAS THEIR Diy Camper!) I'd get an old interesting necklace to part-out and replace that chain on the bathroom mirror with something short and extravagant with maybe a jewel? So when you look in the mirror, a speck of luxury. Nice. It's a really beautiful camper, I think you should be really proud of it! What a Blessing for your family.
The wall looks adorable! Diys are the best. Sometimes. Not related, but I have been steadily decluttering/minimizing my house for a while and who's week i actually feel like I'm making progress . I actually have extra space in my walk in closet and pantry. Thank you for all your inspirational decluttering videos.
I love getting to do DIYs too. They are good for "self care," so I'm glad you did it for that reason. Plus, it looks great! Towels in the shower makes sense since you don't use it really at all. You could keep your waters and other drinks in the shower too if you make a way with bungie cords to keep them from moving around. I saw someone else mention to keep a master list of things you always take so you can just check them off to make packing the camper a breeze.
For all the inspiring reasons I watch...today I just watched to listen to the rain in the background. It never rains in California and I love to hear the sound of rain on the roof.
I am happy for you that you took time and did the sponge paint. And, I agree the DIY project is good for the brain and for positive mental health. TY for giving me permission to do a project for my brain. 🙂💚☮

I too, work better under pressure though, and I am just like you in regard to needing the detail diy's to feel " grounded." The introvert thing... And, the guilt. I figured it was just a mom thing. But, I tell myself, we have to take care of us to be the best for them, and, everyone else😁🤗 It's so great to have someone to relate to so closely. "We could be friends!"🍵
We are tent campers. I made a master packing list so when we are getting ready to go somewhere I can print it and use it as my check list. It’s easily adjustable for the amount of time we will be gone and what we will need for climate and food. It has made packing easier because I don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time!
Lol, I used to hide from the kids and hubs in our camper, too. I had a checklist for each kid and they were responsible for getting their stuff into the camper and stowed away. They did a great job. One of my kiddos had to learn the hard way. They forgot their swimsuit, so no swimming for them. Last time that happened. Enjoy your time camping with your family. Camping was the best family time ever for us!

Our bathroom has been sponge painted years ago...the old technique. It got painted over one color! But I am so loving the way you did this! I’m going to remember this, I want to do it in my next home. 💕❤️💕
I just want to tell you that you have helped me so much and pretty much helped break through hopelessness. I wanted to do The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning but am so overwhelmed. Living a minimalist lifestyle is a perfect match once it's done. I ended up with so much stuff leftover from when my grown kids moved out and clearing out my parent's house when they passed away. it's daunting, especially not being a naturally organized housekeeper. I have ten months until guests are coming to stay and I don't want to be embarrassed with a cluttered house, yet again. You are so inspiring.
I love the design you used to sponge paint the bathroom! I think that would great in the bathroom in our house. I was already planning to repaint the room but I think I'll add that design to at least one of the walls.
Nice! You may like to finish the bathroom in instant trim a stick on trim. I just seen another TH-camr use it in her home bathroom and she loved it. It can also go around the base of the toilet/floor. Have fun on your camping journey with your family. Love the sponge design. It adds a lot of character in the room!

I really love how the camper turned out maybe you could add a cute curtain to in front of where the matress is to make it astetically pleasing. like maybe run a rope or wire across with command hooks and then have some thing strung across. A map may be fun! Maybe they sell shower curtains that are maps of the United States and you can mark off where you travel or stop. that could also be a cool art idea have a framed map somewhere in the camper if you have any wall space.
I, too, get absorbed in dyi projects--where my mind is not re-hashing yesterday, or worrying about tomorrow. I am fully present in the moment, and in a state of "flow." That's where enjoyment of life is. I think that may be what you're describing.

I like the new version of sponge painting. I may try your exact method in either our bathroom or laundry. That may be just the thing to get me enthused on doing the repair and painting the walls in the laundry. I have finally started the minimalism/cleaning/organization journey. I do the same with packing for flights and travel so I don't have to reinvent the wheel every time.
I keep a permanent list on my computer. I print a copy when I’m packing, and cross out items as I go.

I love how the bathroom turned out and your towel hooks in the shower was a huge ah-ha moment! We are totally doing that in our camper. Never thought to use that space to help hang towels. We try to hang towels for a family of 6 on the door and they never dry out. Thanks for the simple but great idea!

I cannot get over how cute this camper is now!! I hadn't seen the kitchen curtains or the sofa redone and the sponge painting was spot on. I loved packing our camper... i think it felt like adult version of playing house like when I was little. My kids had sleepovers with friends when we had it parked at home. If it was my DIY camper, (and you know there's 194K viewers imagining it WAS THEIR Diy Camper!) I'd get an old interesting necklace to part-out and replace that chain on the bathroom mirror with something short and extravagant with maybe a jewel? So when you look in the mirror, a speck of luxury. Nice. It's a really beautiful camper, I think you should be really proud of it! What a Blessing for your family.

Not related, but I have been steadily decluttering/minimizing my house for a while and who's week i actually feel like I'm making progress . I actually have extra space in my walk in closet and pantry. Thank you for all your inspirational decluttering videos.

I love getting to do DIYs too. They are good for "self care," so I'm glad you did it for that reason. Plus, it looks great!
Towels in the shower makes sense since you don't use it really at all. You could keep your waters and other drinks in the shower too if you make a way with bungie cords to keep them from moving around.
I saw someone else mention to keep a master list of things you always take so you can just check them off to make packing the camper a breeze.
For all the inspiring reasons I watch...today I just watched to listen to the rain in the background. It never rains in California and I love to hear the sound of rain on the roof.

We are tent campers. I made a master packing list so when we are getting ready to go somewhere I can print it and use it as my check list. It’s easily adjustable for the amount of time we will be gone and what we will need for climate and food. It has made packing easier because I don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time!

Lol, I used to hide from the kids and hubs in our camper, too. I had a checklist for each kid and they were responsible for getting their stuff into the camper and stowed away. They did a great job. One of my kiddos had to learn the hard way. They forgot their swimsuit, so no swimming for them. Last time that happened. Enjoy your time camping with your family. Camping was the best family time ever for us!

I just want to tell you that you have helped me so much and pretty much helped break through hopelessness. I wanted to do The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning but am so overwhelmed. Living a minimalist lifestyle is a perfect match once it's done. I ended up with so much stuff leftover from when my grown kids moved out and clearing out my parent's house when they passed away. it's daunting, especially not being a naturally organized housekeeper. I have ten months until guests are coming to stay and I don't want to be embarrassed with a cluttered house, yet again. You are so inspiring.

Nice! You may like to finish the bathroom in instant trim a stick on trim. I just seen another TH-camr use it in her home bathroom and she loved it. I really love how the camper turned out maybe you could add a cute curtain to in front of where the matress is to make it astetically pleasing. like maybe run a rope or wire across with command hooks and then have some thing strung across. A map may be fun! Maybe they sell shower curtains that are maps of the United States and you can mark off where you travel or stop. that could also be a cool art idea have a framed map somewhere in the camper if you have any wall space.

I, too, get absorbed in dyi projects--where my mind is not re-hashing yesterday, or worrying about tomorrow. I am fully present in the moment, and in a state of "flow." That's where enjoyment of life is. I think that may be what you're describing.
