Last Passengers Services | Pakenham Station & Main Street Crossing | Metro Trains Melbourne

- Pakenham Railway Station and Main Street Crossing both took passengers for the last time on Friday 17th of May 2024 to make way for a new skyrail station opening June 2nd 2024.
This includes the removal of 3 crossing (Racecourse Road, Main Street & McGregor Road) in a 2.7km span of elevated rail.
Pakenham Station will no longer be a terminating station but will have V/Line services and Metro stopping there. A new East Pakenham Station will become Metro’s new terminus on the new East Pakenham Line.
Last Up (City bound) train departed at 9:28pm off Platform 1 with HMCT Set 48.
Last Down (Terminating and stabling at Pakenham East Depot) arrived at 9:47pm on Platform 2 with HCMT set 32.
There was an Empty train that passed at 10:47pm which was the last train over the crossing and tracks.

I worked at Pakenham in the late 80's, my 2nd stint was as Sig Asst, so this is great to see.
Losing the crossing is a good thing for Pakenham!

the new stations open 3rd June now according to the disruption pdf on the PTV site.
Yeah, I believe that will be the case. They’re doing test trains today (30TH May) so should be good to go.

@@smarTarraY2000 i actually got off my bum and visited the Pakenham station a couple of weeks back. The new looks to be a vast improvement.
@@ianmontgomery7534 it’s a massive looking station. Should be good to see when it opens.
@@smarTarraY2000 It certainly is. It looks so much more impressive than the one it replaces but whether it does any better job remains to be seen but judging on Noble Park I think it will be a vast improvement.
