- This is just a manga for an alternate ending of Death Note. Here's a video version of a presumably fan-made manga. Unlike normal manga it reads from left to right. What could have happened had Light won. The music is from the Death Note sound track. I repeat this is a fan made manga, and I didn't make the manga itself. I made the video, I took a fan made manga- one that was created by taking clips from the original Death Note manga and Photoshopped to tell a different story- and edited, applying music to it and just basically making an amv out of it. I can guarantee this is a fan made manga because of the way it's made, the images in it are just cut and edited versions of the original manga reorganized to tell a story. That is, whomever made the manga took the pictures from various parts of the original manga, copied them and cut them up, edited the text, sometimes changed the background and all around just plain rearranged it to tell the story they wanted to. So yeah, not a real alternate ending but definitely an awesome one.
Originally I had deleted the link I had to the fan made manga but I've recently been able to find a copy of the comic from a different source so I'll link it here in case anyone wants to just read the comic:

I love the implications of this. The idea that Light actively has to face his actions and that it doesnt phase him once hes realized it wont stop. The fact thay he remembers without a second thought the exact number of people hes killed. The simple moment that he decides that he already conquered one world, whos to say he wont outsmart another.
This is season 2 material written all over it. We need this. (Also bc of the whole “light being a shinigami” theory)

@@bkssham9671 it kinda defeats the point of death note (manga only wasn't covered by the anime) in that no matter who you are and what you do you will die. that's what the whole "anyone who uses the DN cannot go to neither heaven nor hell" its not about them not going to heaven nor hell its about neither heaven nor hell existing.
That's pretty ass backwards 😂. They go to the world of myu (nothingness) which is what death is pretty much. That already pretty much said heaven and hell existed they just can't go there considering light pretty much pulled a Lucifer and tried becoming god, and after all the people he killed and manipulated he should go to hell 😂.

Yes exactly. That's one of the reasons i didn't like the ending. Because he finally kills Light to take back the notebook, but he didn't take it back 5 years earlier when L was defeated. He kinda disappeared at that time as well, which to me tells that there wasn't much excitement for him then.

Here’s my continuation of this alternate ending (just rewatched the show):
Light: *Is on his journey to the Shinigami King. As he walks the pain of each death becomes less and less prevalent. His body still feels the pain but his mind is focused on a different goal. A hundred deaths later maybe a thousand it becomes nothing more than a game to him. “Oh another heart attack” “A car crash that’s a nice change of pace”. He runs into Makari on the way to the Shinigami King.
Mikami: God you are suffering as I am. I am sorry please let me assist you any way I can.
Light: There is nothing you can do now. Your mistake has cost me everything.
Mikami: Please Please forgive me!!!
Light: Perhaps this was meant to be, perhaps this will allow me to save not one but two worlds.
Mikami: What
Light: Know this, if you see me again you will know if I have succeeded in which case I will decide whether or not to forgive you.
Mikami: Yes God, thank you.
Light: *Continues his journey to the Shinigami king, still dying along the way every few steps
Ryuk: What was that about?
Light: You’ll see
Ryuk: I guess I should know by now that I have to be patient for results with you.
Light: * Finally Arrives at the Shinigami king
Light: I bow before you great king of the Shinigami realm
S-King: Ah light Yagami the human who used the death note more than any other and even managed to get it back after forfeiting ownership
Light: Yes that is me, I have a deal to make with you
S-King: What could you possibly offer me human?
Light: You’ve seen how I used to my intellect to better my world, allow me to do the same to yours. After all what point is there in being king of such a dark depressing world as the Shinigami Realm?
S-King: Well you are right about the Shinigami realm nothing here brings much joy to me.
Light: Exactly, think of how much happier you would be to rule over your world if I fixed it, made it better as I have done to earth.
S-King: I am Not a fool, I see your plan
Light: do you now
S-King: Yes you wouldn’t offer to better my world just like that, you would want something in return. Or maybe you were hoping I’d think you couldn’t better my world with the amount of time you have left here before you disappear. The only way to do either of those would be for me to make you a Shinigami, fix my world and in exchange you can continue what you started on yours.
Light: Well yes, but do humans and earth rly mean that much to you, so much so that you’d give up a better world for yourself.
S-King: *ponders lights statement*
Light: *stares blankly at the S-King
S-King: No, humans and earth mean nothing to me. Your wish is granted, but I will make sure you know your place.
Light: Begins to transform his chest aches as if he is experiencing a thousand heart attacks all at once. His back is cut open as 2 wings covered in elegant black feathers sprout his eyes glow red, the Shinigami eyes. To his shock none of his other feature change.
S-King: Your look makes you easily distinguishable from a normal Shinigami. They will all know your purpose is to make our world better, essentially a slave to the Shinigami.
Light: that is fine, as long as I can complete my mission on earth.
S-King: Such dedication, here is your notebook
Light: it feels as if I have been reborn, no longer held back by light Yagami. I am now Shinigami-Kira. I said I would be the god of the new world, I never thought I would achieve that by becoming a god of death.
Ryuk: Well you actually did it, I have to say this may be your most impressive feat yet. What now?
Light: Well first I need to go see Mikami .
Mikami: *sees 2 Shinigami approach him as he is experience his deaths
Mikami: God!! You have become a Shinigami
Light: Yes, now I will be able to complete Kira’s mission without any interference, you have do well without you mistake this would be have been possible. I give you my forgiveness.
Mikami: Thank you god!! Thank you.
Light: * on his way to the portal to earth but then he sees someone
Other Shinigami: I heard that 2 Shinigami died for her.
Only for her to take her own life.
What a waste.
Light: *Looks to see Misa dying several times
Ryuk: Well looks like she could t live without you, shame she used a Death Note.
Light: guess I have to do this, *goes up to misa
Misa: Light is that you, oh no you are suffering as I am.
Light: no I have a new fate ahead of me. I have become a Shinigami and will rule as a new god of our world.
Misa: that’s good, as long as you are happy I am too.
Light: *Heads to earth to begin his reign
Ryuk: Hope you don’t mind if I tag along. I wanna see what you have planned

Part 2:
*Lights Mother and Sister at Lights grave*
Sayu: I can’t believe he’s gone, first Dad now Light
Sachiko: They both gave their lives to stop Kira, but was it worth it
Matsuda: Sachiko, Sayu, I’m so sorry for your loss. But know this Light died a hero stopping Kira, the whole world is safer now because of his sacrifice, because of both their sacrifices.
Suyo: Who was Kira? Who was the bastard that caused so much pain and suffering to my family?
Matsuda: I’m sorry Suyo, but that’s classified, I can’t tell you
*Matsuda turns away walks toward a car and gets in*
Near: Did you do it?
Matsuda: Yes, but I don’t like lying to them, don’t they deserve to know the truth
Near: No that will only bring them more pain and possibly create another enemy for us, maybe even another Kira. This is better for everyone
Matsuda *with his head down* : I guess your right
*as the car drives away we see Light( I will now be referring to him as only Kira) in his form as Shinigami-Kira, had been listening to them the whole time*
Kira: They are right about my family, they’re better of not knowing the truth about me
Ryuk: So what do you have planned for them.
Kira: Something… Spectacular
Ryuk: I can’t wait
*Back at their headquarters*
Aizawa: So what are we going to do with this notebook
Mogi: I think we should destroy it, it can’t be trusted in the hands of anyone, good or evil
Matsuda: I agree it has to be destroyed
Near: No
Everyone else: What?
Matsuda: You can’t be serious? What use could this notebook possible have?
Near: The FBI will use this as a tool to get rid of the most dangerous criminals in the world. Criminals that have proven to be impossible to catch other wise, and without a doubt have the death sentence.
Aizawa: Near you can’t possible think that’s a good idea, this notebook is evil
Near: The notebook is neither good nor evil, it is merely a tool. Light used it to play god I will give it to the FBI to use as a weapon for extreme situations where no other option is available.
*Kira and Ryuk are Floating above overhearing this conversation*
Ryuk: So when is this spectacular event you spoke of going to happen?
Kira: In precisely 1 minute * Kira shows Ryuk his death note with 1000 names all set to die exactly one minute from now*
Matsuda: I’m still not on board with you using the notebook as a weapon
Near: I’ve done the calculations this is the best possible use for it
*FBI Agent bursts into the room*
FBI Agent: Sir! You have to see this! *turns on the monitor*
News reporter: After 24 hours without a murder, Kira has seemingly returned stronger then ever before.
Aizawa: What? How is this possible?
Mogi: Did another death note arrive on earth?
News reporter: It seems that precisely 10 minutes ago, 1000 inmates from prisons across the world were all simultaneously killed.
Matsuda: 1000 deaths! How is that possible.
Near: The only possible explanation is that a group of people, likely Kira supporters, got their hands on another notebook, that is the only way 1000 deaths could’ve occurred in such a short span of time.
*evryone feels a light tap on their shoulder as Kira touches them with a piece of his death note*
Kira: That’s not the only way Near
*Everyone turns around, and to their horror see A Shinigami that looks just like Light*
Matsuda: L-Light, is that you?
Kira: Light is dead, I am Shinigami-Kira
Aizawa: What have you done Light?!
Kira: Exactly what I said I would do, become the God of the new world. I have done so by becoming a Shinigami, a God of Death.
Near *with a hopeless and horrified look on his face*: Was this your plan all along?
Kira: Perhaps, but I wouldn’t worry about it, after all you are all going to die soon.
Mogi: What do you mean by that?
Kira *laughing*: You are all going to burn to death knowing that you could never stop me and you will never get another opportunity to try.
Kira: Near, I would ask you to say “hi” to L for me but I doubt you’ll get to see the gates of heaven. After all, Mello’s death is on your hands.
Matsuda: Light don’t do this!
*Another Agent bursts into the room*
Agent 2: We have to evacuate now! There has been a gas leak in the buildi-
*the room an everyone in it burst into flames*
Kira *smiling as everyone in the room is screaming*: Goodbye Everyone, it’s been fun.
Ryuk: You never disappoint, that truly was spectacular.
Kira *Looking at a clock as the screams fade away* : They’re dead now. That’s enough work in the human world for today now let’s see how I can improve your world.
Ryuk: I have to say this was fun. But I still want to know what ordinary humans do with death notes. *carrying the other death note before it burned in the fire*. Plus I need someone to get me apples.
Kira *as him and Ryuk fly back to the Shinigami realm* : Well I guess we’ll both have our fun on earth from now on.

No matter the overall quality of this- I have to say that the overall story telling and concepts used here brought back all the old joy ,shock and excitement that is death note this was done so incredibly I just have to say thank u to whoever made it

I don't remember the exact episode, but when the Death Note was in possession of the Yotsuba group L said that the original Kira (Light) never killed people who commited forgivable crimes, people who regret their crimes, and something else I don't remember. I don't agree with Light but it seems he was pretty fair in his choice of who to punish. He probably did some research on them before he killed them.

I definitely prefer the original endings but I appreciate the work that went into this and it had it's own lil twists that made it enjoyable enough to finish. I liked that Light didn't just "win" but still had to suffer for his crimes. But this is also a Light that doesn't just give up even once he's dead. That's pretty interesting too. Good work!
The PG ending was horrible, the entire build up from ep1 was thrown out of the window in a span of few minutes, it sucked so bad i don't even consider it canon anymore, it felt like some random dumbass infiltrated the studio and threatened the writers to force this happy ending so hard it cracks the entire base of the series

I stopped watch the series after L's death. For me L is the only worthy opponent to Light. L win or not it's still ok. The series should have ended there

It may have challenged some people's thinking, but I don't think that the term "challenged" is what you're looking for. Whether Light deserved to die or not is subjective. That's all there is to it. Multiple biases will shape your judgement. There are genuinely established ideals and morals, of course, and usually within societies there is common knowledge. And a certain mindset is considered good or bad because the overwhelming majority consider it one or the other, thus "making" it that. So in this scenario, a lot of people would consider Light bad due to the established "common knowledge" amongst various societies because he's killing innocent people or people who could be changed, which is considered bad, because these people could be people that the overwhelming majority would like. And these common ideals are important to a functioning society, otherwise many would not be able to cooperate and build off our concepts. Because that's what humans do. We simplify things into our understanding so we can build off from them. But there are limits, so they're constantly expanded upon. Nothing is what you think it is. Most of the time one's opinion is based off the bubble of humanity. If Light Yagami wanted to reshape civilization into his own ideals, I personally wouldn't mind that. Because I'm a nihilistic misanthropist. I have subconsciousness and conscious biases that make my judgement of the human race so negative.

What I mean by fair judgement is showing the thinking effort or process that they have made before arriving to the conclusion rather than just "i dont want him to die, he is my favorite!" or "he can't die because I like him". These type of comment are childlike due to zero justification, but nothing bad about it though. It just show that these people don't think much about their preference. Death Note is not mind challenging for everyone. Nonetheless, it would be much better if we don't let our preference limiting us to one perspective. No matter how much we like Light or L, we also need to consider why they shouldn't be liked to get the message as a whole. Taking sides lead to nowhere sometimes.

Daily reminder, Light did not die because of his ego, and not because he was overconfident, he died because Teru Mikami got outsmarted, so its 20% of Light's fault he lost, and the 80% goes to Mikami. And the only reason I give Light that 20% is because he trusted Mikami.
