    100 car repair karma points for making this video
    I had to go at my axle nuts with an angle grinder to get it loose
    you can do it whout taking the brakes off, just be careful to not pull on the lines
    also, I just disconnect at the strut and tie rod and leave the ball joint, it pulls back and you can get the axle out no prob

    Thanks for the video however the cause of your recurring problem might be the worn carrier bearing of the intermediate shaft and therefore the wobble.

    Used video for 2011 Sorento lx. Super helpful, pretty much step by step. Thanks a ton for making video. Successful install!!!

      Scott L, luckily didn’t have to use one, but it did rent it just Incase. The hardest part was separating the control arm.

      Thanks Sean Cavanaugh. I wonder if this was related to 2011 Sorento. This will help me alot.

    My mechanic took the shocks off to get the axles out of my family's 08 Sedona, he didn't separate the ball joints or calipers, however. Both CV axles came out relatively easy. The Rockauto axles (Trakmotive) has vibrations at 30mph. Really disappointed. I'm saving the old axles for a rebuild eventually.

      When I was changing my struts my cx axle popped out on its own...I didn't have any more money to buy it but I'm worried about it smh

      Javier Ochoa just remove the axle nut and hit the end of cv axle and it will pop back in

    Good job! I have the same style of video making... on my 2008 Kia Sedona - do you have the torque specifications?

    My 2011 Sedona had both drive shafts replaced in a garage. New shafts were aftermarket as Kia dealer wanted 1000Cad a piece +tax . I found that aftermarket parts were vibrating during rapid acceleration. Changed them a couple times new ones were still vibrating. Mechanic told me he was not able to find the cause. The only thing that was changed were both drive shafts. Is it your experience as well? Did you notice if aftermarket drive shafts caused vibration during acceleration compared to original parts? Thank you.

    When you tighten down the lower ball joint, does the weight of the vehicle have to be on that component?

    Hello. Lari here. Got a 2012 Sedona. Are you using a driver side shaft and installing at that spline separation?

    • @jarist1
      @jarist1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      or do you perhaps have a parts # for what you installed?

    Your intermediate shaft splines are probably worn which is ruining the cv axle splines . I would replace the intermediate shaft also

  • @timidater4803
    @timidater4803 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    did you reuse the clip on the intermediate shaft?? my axle didnt come with a new one

    • @timidater4803
      @timidater4803 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@themarginalmechanic5928 on the 06 sedona, there is a c clip on the intermediate shaft that the outside axle slides over, I cant get the axle to go back over it

      Did you reuse the old spring clip then? I got my new axle and it also did not come with a new one.!! Please reply. Thanks!

    Did you do the driver side too,

    • @mattspurgin6775
      @mattspurgin6775 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      what tool did you use to pry the driver side? I got everything separated but my inner cv boot is torn so it separated at the joint with the base still in the transmission and I didn't have any luck getting a pry bar in there to pry it out.

  • @DeffectiveMirrors
    @DeffectiveMirrors 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used a pry bar, never seen that chain method

    I'm assuming you need an alignment after this correct?

    • @themarginalmechanic5928
      @themarginalmechanic5928  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Changing an axle does not require the front end to be aligned unless for some reason you were forced to make changes to the length of the outer tie rod.
