- Hey guys, I'm back with another video!! So, a new weekend means a new instalment of Bridgerton Season 2. When Kate said that they did a terrible thing, look at Anthony face lol. He was looking proud of himself and of what they've done lol.
Since they kissed, his whole demeanor changed. He looks more relaxed. Even his shoulders are less tense and he is done given a fck about other people not named Kate. Love the subtle acting that conveys all that.

@@dakota7314 yeah, i actually get even more angry about it now because CVD (show-runner at the time) has said in interviews that Edwina didn't even go to their wedding (assuming he meant, in his mind, she prob wouldn't go) & I'm like, ew, how immature and also that even seems like it conflicts with what we saw from Edwina at the end so that was weird in many ways. I'm mostly still just salty that the shows best ship #Kanthony had their season virtually overshadowed by subplots and a made-up love triangle and then they tried too hard to give Edwina some girlboss moment that was not necessary at all--especially since Edwina isn't even going to be part of the series going forward. Lol clearly i'm still heated about s2 and the wonky decisions that were made but at least Kate & Anthony got the love and happiness they deserved so it's still my preferred season of Bridgerton.
Anthony clearly told Edwina that he was not looking for a love match. And she said she was fine with it.
Then Kate told her MULTIPLE times that Anthony was not looking for a love match and that Edwina should find someone who would. And she told Kate off.
Plus, Kate and Anthony didn't kiss until the wedding was called off. So it's not like they were having an affair.
What they are guilty of is falling in love. But this is something that no one has control over.

Yeah, I don't get why the writers had Edwina co-signing to a non-love match at the beginning; then after ep.6., without portraying the process of changing her mind, allowed the script to starkly jump to Edwina implying that love was her expectation & requirement from the start. Poorly written, imo. Make it make sense.🙄
They definitely had an emotional affair though because Anthony led Edwina on when he proposed to her and basically gave her false hope. When Anthony saw Kate with Mr. Dorset it was super obvious he was jealous soo idk I feel like Edwina also didn’t pay enough attention to her fiancé looking at her sis. It’s like she lived in this fantasy.

Jonathan Bailey explained the moment, saying, "It wasn’t scripted, [the line where] Anthony is saying to her, 'I will stop, I will stop.' And that’s something that we put in the sex scene, because I think it's really important that he is respectful and is understanding of the female, and there's never going to be a moment where that isn't the most important narrative point."

Edwina is used to thinking of kate as her serving person and in her shadow this is her having a hard time seeing Kate being a person of her own. She was begging Anthony to say he loves her not Kate! Even when she finally found out he didn't...they show it like she was betrayed! What did he do. Not love her. Looking at Kate, the greatest sin! Specially considering her jealousy is directed at Kate and not Anthony. Like she just stood there? All the rage directed at Kate is definitely her coming to terms with the fact that Kate is a human too.
in the book edwina on multiple occasions tried to get kate to understand she deserved everything that kate was trying so hard to give to her. the only conflict they had together was because edwina was upset that Kate was being so selfless yet here they turned their relationship into something ugly
Dude Edwina is not such a villain. Kate and Anthony did baby her and it generally doesn't go down well with people if you get someone who you know loves you married to them forcefully...obviously Kate didn't know better then, but she still should've told her stuff instead of keeping it from her.
I really didn’t get the sense that edwina was jealous. I think despite her age she’s basically a child with no life experience who looks up to Kate as a parental figure. She felt humiliated, I mean the girl sprinted out of her own wedding, she felt betrayed because of the lies, she felt their pity for her which is never a nice feeling (empathy good, pity bad).
She thought she was in love with Anthony but only because she was so naive & had been trained her whole life to be the princess type figure, and on paper her marriage to Anthony was the fairytale so she accepted it as that, she didn’t have the life experience to recognise that it wasn’t love, and when she did voice concerns, everyone she admired & listened to told her not to worry.
She definitely made some mistakes, and Kate didn’t deserve that vitriol.
I agree she didn’t view Kate as a person in her own right but I don’t think she viewed her as a servant. I think she viewed her as a parent, most kids don’t view their parents as complex, fallible human beings. It’s not until they grow up and start to share similar experiences that they can relate to their parents as actual people and the relationship can mature out of that dynamic.
As soon as she processed the lessons and grew from the experience she was a total Kathony shipper.

What she saw was Anthony sending sos message to Kate place save me from this nightmare. She doesn't know anything other than Anthony wants her. And that is what got her railed up. We are humans we make mistakes. Ed is called perfect and kind again and again by every other character no one questions her or chastises her and that has fooled you. you don't want to tarnish the false picture. there is a distance between perfect and being a villain. And Ed is on there. Toward Kate specially.

I can understand Edwina feeling angry and disappointed in regards to Kate being her sister should've been honest about her feelings towards Anthony and being angry with Anthony not telling her about his but nothing else. Like Anthony told her he just wanted a wife and nothing more and Kate told her that's what he wanted.
After the " I've been stung by a bee" and the "Ah" from episode 4, the" You must stop! Stop! I will stop" bit is my favorite exchange of the season.

In my humble opinion the sex scene we got (including those flashbacks) in Ep. 7 is much more better than all the sex scenes from Season 1 combined. But that's just me.
Also I do agree with your opinion about Edwina - I mean she has the right to be upset, really, I just think writers didn't handle that well. Like WTF is the comment her being more kind-hearted than Kate supposed to mean? I don't think that there was one scene when we can honestly say that Edwina was kind-hearted or it's better to say really interested in Kate's feelings.. I mean, yeah, she asked her about the bee sting, or about Kate being distracted... but she immediately followed with her own agenda not giving Kate's problems a second thought.

I think the "cruel" thing Edwina is talking about after the country dance is that she saw Kate and Anthony dancing together. You literally see her look over and stare at them. Brad cuts away a little bit but he does capture some of it. And the Lady Whistledown story on Elosie is plopped between Edwina's look and when Kate suggests they return home. Edwina clearly was pissed by their pairing up and I guess, in her mind, flaunting their attraction/love in her face. Hence the cruelty.
I'll be honest, I was kind of done with Edwina by this point. She became annoying and petulant and further demonstrated (to me anyway) why she was so unfit to be married to Anthony. Yes, I understand she was hurt and only time will heal that but her response in this situation informs exactly how she would respond to challenges in that marriage. It ain't just about hosting balls and dinners. She and Anthony were ill-suited for each other. Sure, they were friendly enough and got along nicely, even well. But then Anthony was always well behaved and gentlemanly around Edwina. What happens when one or the other gets angry? We've seen in S1 and S2 how Anthony carries his family to task - his siblings and even Violet. Was Edwina ready for that? Edwina was acquainted with the Viscount but she knew nothing about Anthony.
And it pissed me off because Lady Mary and Lady Danbury were sitting right there playing cards with Edwina and Daphne when Daphne was like "Anthony, even-tempered?!" Hello! His sister is telling you important facts but nobody was checking because all Edwina could see is the life he offers? And Lady Danbury and Lady Bridgerton saw the growing attraction between him and Kate but neither called him out directly for his blatant staring? Even Benedict, as high as he was noticed it. Granted, I am not blaming them but it seems they saw or suspected so much, as they acknowledged after the failed wedding, but hardly lifted a finger to intervene. In fact, it seemed they were pushing for opposite actions, Danbury for Kate to keep quiet to avoid scandal and Violet for Anthony to pursue love/happiness. Meanwhile, Lady Mary had her head up her butt and Edwina barely knew the man she was supposedly in love with.
So I felt no pity for her because in the end, she had no idea who he was.

Edwina seemed to ultimately be more in love with the idea of being married than actually being in love with Anthony. That pitfall of duty wherein so many people in that time married only out of duty/expectation and never gave consideration to their feelings. Anthony may have seen everything he wanted in a wife with Edwina, but in reality he was simultaneously falling in love with Kate bc, really, she was already everything Edwina was. Kate taught Edwina everything she used to catch Anthony's attention. Her knowledge of languages, dancing, literature, decorum, etc. Their personalities were different enough and that's where Kate won out. Edwina was too compliant for Anthony. He needs the challenge, Daphne says exactly that.
Lady Danbury also said to Edwina that there were marriages of convenience, when Kate was telling her that she deserved to fall in love, sooo, yes, several people told her.
I love this spicy scene playing the song How deep is your love and also you thinking that it was gonna be a nice horse ride,LOL. After seeing it 3 times this season, the final of this episode and also when Anthony makes the proposal to Edwina, they leave me sad and in shock, even knowing how ends. So intense this season!

Let me first say, Brad you had me in stitches with your reactions👍 now my two cents worth on Edwina’s reactions. Of course she had a right to be upset, albeit she was warned that Anthony does not want a “love” marriage by her sister, heck even Anthony practically told her so at the poetry scene. What I have trouble with is her “half sister” comment. It was clear that this is how she viewed Kate because in an earlier scene she said something to the effect of how would she explain their relationship to the ton, and Kate just responded that “we are sisters”. Kate did everything for her mom and Edwina, desperately seeking approval and acceptance . She made mistakes, yes, but why did her mother not act like one? Kind hearted Edwina, don’t know about that.
I feel people don't speak about this enough but Kate is stunning!

I should say that in the books, Edwina was portrayed slightly differently. At the beginning, she was aware of her family's financial situation, and that her position as the season's diamond meant that she was the only hope for her family to find someone who would support them. The only reason Edwina went along with her courtship with Antony was because he was rich and of nobility, and wasn't a complete asshole, so she decided that if she had to marry for money, then the Viscount would be the least objectionable option. Lastly, it seems to me that Edwina picked up on Kate's feeling much more quickly than her television counterpart, and once Kate married Antony, she thanked Kate because it meant that she could marry for love.

Besides, Penelope’s gossip persona has saved the Bridgertons many times:
It saved Daphne from having to wed Nigel Berbrooke.
It saved Colin from being trapped by Marina in a sham marriage.
It even saved Eloise from the Queen twice. Once from having to show her debut in the first episode and from getting trampled on by the Queen. Even though she wrote something bad about her, she still saved her from getting killed by the Queen.
Love your takes on things, because I agree with you. 😉 Edwina was seriously getting on my last nerve. And Netflix needs to come out with an extended “directors cut” of that last sex scene. In defense of Edwina, because I was also super pissed off with her when I watched the season the first time around and how she acted like a complete prick to Kate after the wedding debacle: on rewatching the season a second and third time now, I do have a great deal of sympathy for her, especially when I think of her with the perspective of my own younger sibling. Edwina is, but a child. She's acting like any 18 or 19 year old would, especially one who's been pampered or shielded by their older sibling their entire life. Even if she's slightly older, let's say 20-21, she's still very emotionally immature. So to everyone saying that she knew Anthony was not going to offer her love when she first got into the arrangement: true, but feelings change. It's a human thing. Sometimes we get into things without expectations but still end up hoping differently. Especially considering Anthony put up a real good act of being the gallant gentleman in front of her (he was doing it for Kate but Edwina didn't know that). I mean, I know that "I've" fallen for someone for WAY less when I was a teenager. And this is her first crush. It's bound to get messy. Sure, she acted very rudely to Kate later on (the half sibling line and in this episode as well, yikes), but she was angry and in shock. And we all say and do things in anger without actually meaning it. Especially to our siblings. Does that make it right? No. But it's normal, understandable and human. That's all.
to be fair i did go on a little tangent about this but i ended up editing it out cos it was quite long, so i do agree with you about her maybe not knowing how to express her emotions on the matter maturely etc

I would give you credit if they didn't spoil the story for the sake of making an actor famous. They made a ridiculous love triangle between siblings and blamed it all on Kate. However, this was not the original story. The main characters are Kate and Anthony, but she's also on the poster. The main couple does not have a wedding, she does. That's why I don't accept the story or the Edwina character.
