The people who forgave Whistledown are the people who are actually close to Pen and they struggled with it in their own ways. The Queen's forgiveness wasn't quite forgiveness. It was her realizing, through Lady Danbury, that Lady Whistledown is the prime piece of entertainment in their lives and things would get boring if she gets rid of her. The "forgiveness" was just the Queen posturing for the ton so that they won't see her as weak while she still gets to keep her fave gossip media around. Penelope clearly set things up in the letter where she outed herself ahead of time and allowed the Queen to pretend that she was the one who figured it out so that the Queen could pretend to scare Whistledown into apologizing and begging to be spared. Whistledown who has been taunting her is publicly seen to be rightfully scared of the Queen.
The thing I love about this format is that Dylan is always "wait, I don't understand, what's going on, i don't get it?" as though he didn't purposefully skip 6 episodes 😅
I love how normally Dylan wishes the characters death when he doesn't like them but in Bridgerton he hopes they won't find love, like he's really feeling the Bridgerton

In the middle of the episode Mom lose her words when talking to Anderson fully pushing "true love=flustered" in our brains. And at the end Francesca lose all her words when Micheala speaks to her for the first time. I too would have missed it as a "why are you asking who am I when it is pretty clear I'm your cousin's wife" fulstered if they had not been so heavy with their methaphor all episode.
I always felt that Francesca is neurodivergent-coded. Her way of navigating the marriage mart feels less romantic and more logical. Her fixation and escapism in playing the piano shows her reliance on consistency and predictability which courting isn’t - until she finds someone who is happy to help her maintain her peace. I really enjoyed her storyline!
Yeah it's a little sad to me that Dylan thinks she's not worth bothering with because she's not extraverted. This was one of the better characters that actually added something to me.

as a fellow nd (not on the same spectrum as her) i felt so happy with this rep until they went ahead n júst undid it for a cheap plot twist at the end. i absolutely ADORED fran and john's relationship and they are one of my absolute fav ships of the series. so when she started stuttering at the end it made me so made especially bcz in the books it was michael who was taken with her and she didn't want anything to do with him until LONG after. it just entirely threw away the lesson violet learned that love dsnt have to be instant and shocking and butterflies, it can be slow steady and comforting too.
I’m still (very, very) cautiously optimistic that they’re going to clear that up somehow because that scene to be felt like her love for John wasn’t real.
it’s such a compliment to john and francesca’s actors that dylan, without any context, saw their body language and knew there was no chemistry, saw that john acts like an extra, and noticed they both seem relatively plain/not much depth (vampire).. as that was all perfectly intentional in order to explain what their relationship is like. props to them!

Also people like being featured in her society papers, it means they’re interesting and popular enough to be written about, at least that was the case in the books.

Dylan’s reaction to bennedicts 3some scenes are literally everyone. In my experience I have not found a single person that said they liked it or thought it added to his plot/storyline. (His season is next so he needs to meet Sophie so adding in this thing abt him being open to explore now makes no sense bc he won’t ever explore it again since he’s gonna find his wife)
I actually really liked it, it felt different as I haven't encountered much polyamory media out in the wild. I was gripping my thighs and screaming the whole time :))) I hope it's treated more seriously than just a one time thing or something done only out of lust tho Colin also had a threesome in a brothel and it was much less exciting

i love benedict SO much and happily drink in every scene he's in, but it _did_ feel clunky and directionless this season. we all called him being bi, but i would have hoped for a bit more of an interesting/complicated direction to the exploration before his season.
Agreed while I’m not mad about that plot existing (I head cannoned Ben as bi from S1) it feels a bit like they shoe horned it in, they definitely could have edited it better (if there were more eps it would be easier) but overall I felt that Ben’s plot lines for S2&3 should have been swapped, it would have flowed better and made more sense. It feels like the writers meant to do something with it in S2 but got cold feet and when they saw fans frustration with it not going anywhere, they decided to put it back in S3 to satisfy the fans

He tells Pen because he's comfier with her. She's the only person he tell those things too without getting made fun of. When he got back in season 2 he was so excited to talk about his trouble and everyone made fun of him or hated hearing it except Penelope.

After he dies, she becomes friendly with Violet's father who's actually kind to her. He's in a somewhat cold marriage. During their friendship he makes her a paper crown, something he only makes for his loved ones. After some buildup, he and Lady Danbury end up hooking up once. Afterwards they don't continue the affair for the sake of his marriage and his daughter. As adults, Violet finds the paper crown among Lady Danbury's things--she's kept it for decades. I don't recall exactly, but I think Lady Danbury finds Violet with the crown and they have an unspoken understanding that Violet has figured out about the affair but that they will continue to be friends and Violet isn't angry. So this S3 scene re-establishes that understanding more explicitly and cuts to the paper crown as a reminder of Violet's father.

Francesca and John actually have some very sweet scenes together, I didn't interpret them as asexual or Francesca as a lesbian, but rather that she and John are both just very quiet and introverted people who are satisfied with living a simple, solitary life. In some scenes they literally just sit quietly together and they both look so happy about it, they just GET each other. I don't necessarily think Francesca is a lesbian, I just don't think anyone has ever made her feel the way Michaela made her feel.

I love how Dylan absolutely hated all the mentions of Colin's travels even though it is significant to understand the relationship between him and Penelope. He didn't tell anyone any details (e.g. how many cities he visited) but then openly reveals it to Penelope. It shows how well they know each other, how close they are and that there is a lot of trust and respect between the two of them. It's very subtle but a cute little detail if you're aware of it.
Yes!!! I think Colin was missing talking to Pen so bad he tried to mention the travels as many times as he could, he probably wanted to get back to a year prior when they exchanged letters constantly
I do think he is right, even if he didn't see every episode. They were so afraid of being found out because Whistledown hurt a lot of people. And yet, when Penelope just goes and confesses, there are basically no consequences for her. Cressida was ostracised when she falsely claimed to be Whistledown but there was basically no reaction from the ton after Pen came forward. I understand that the Queen being forgiving was part of that but she still got off the hook way too easily.

I always felt that Francesca is neurodivergent-coded. Her way of navigating the marriage mart feels less romantic and more logical. Her fixation and escapism in playing the piano shows her reliance on consistency and predictability which courting isn’t - until she finds someone who is happy to help her maintain her peace. I really enjoyed her storyline!

as a fellow nd (not on the same spectrum as her) i felt so happy with this rep until they went ahead n júst undid it for a cheap plot twist at the end. i absolutely ADORED fran and john's relationship and they are one of my absolute fav ships of the series. so when she started stuttering at the end it made me so made especially bcz in the books it was michael who was taken with her and she didn't want anything to do with him until LONG after. it just entirely threw away the lesson violet learned that love dsnt have to be instant and shocking and butterflies, it can be slow steady and comforting too.
And very important in her story is infertility and I hope they will keep it because it is very important to her and her story

i love benedict SO much and happily drink in every scene he's in, but it _did_ feel clunky and directionless this season. we all called him being bi, but i would have hoped for a bit more of an interesting/complicated direction to the exploration before his season.
Agreed while I’m not mad about that plot existing (I head cannoned Ben as bi from S1) it feels a bit like they shoe horned it in, they definitely could have edited it better (if there were more eps it would be easier) but overall I felt that Ben’s plot lines for S2&3 should have been swapped, it would have flowed better and made more sense. It feels like the writers meant to do something with it in S2 but got cold feet and when they saw fans frustration with it not going anywhere, they decided to put it back in S3 to satisfy the fans

@@briarrose2542 Yes it's a reference to the queen charlotte show! SPOILERS: Lady Danbury starts the season in a long, horrible marriage to a horrible much older man. After he dies, she becomes friendly with Violet's father who's actually kind to her. He's in a somewhat cold marriage. During their friendship he makes her a paper crown, something he only makes for his loved ones. After some buildup, he and Lady Danbury end up hooking up once. Afterwards they don't continue the affair for the sake of his marriage and his daughter. As adults, Violet finds the paper crown among Lady Danbury's things--she's kept it for decades. I don't recall exactly, but I think Lady Danbury finds Violet with the crown and they have an unspoken understanding that Violet has figured out about the affair but that they will continue to be friends and Violet isn't angry. So this S3 scene re-establishes that understanding more explicitly and cuts to the paper crown as a reminder of Violet's father.

Francesca and John actually have some very sweet scenes together, I didn't interpret them as asexual or Francesca as a lesbian, but rather that she and John are both just very quiet and introverted people who are satisfied with living a simple, solitary life. In some scenes they literally just sit quietly together and they both look so happy about it, they just GET each other. I don't necessarily think Francesca is a lesbian, I just don't think anyone has ever made her feel the way Michaela made her feel.

I’m actually sad that Dylan didn’t get the relationship between Francesca and John. Being an introvert person myself I really liked their way of expressing their love. It was quiet, understanding and simple. They have really sweet scenes together and I wished Dylan could have seen them.

I love how Dylan absolutely hated all the mentions of Colin's travels even though it is significant to understand the relationship between him and Penelope. He didn't tell anyone any details (e.g. how many cities he visited) but then openly reveals it to Penelope. It shows how well they know each other, how close they are and that there is a lot of trust and respect between the two of them. It's very subtle but a cute little detail if you're aware of it.

I do think he is right, even if he didn't see every episode. They were so afraid of being found out because Whistledown hurt a lot of people. And yet, when Penelope just goes and confesses, there are basically no consequences for her. Cressida was ostracised when she falsely claimed to be Whistledown but there was basically no reaction from the ton after Pen came forward. I understand that the Queen being forgiving was part of that but she still got off the hook way too easily.

DYLAN you should totally have a channel where you get more into detail about the technical side of movies and TV shows because I am honestly so interested to hear your thoughts on what they do well or could've done better in terms of like plot and directing choices and camera work and stuff. You mentioned some people dont like it so you wont do it as much but i love it and i know other people do too❤

he is right in a way. she didn't! in the book thy were already saved by whistledown's money. it was completely unnecessary. it just took more screen time away from the main couple.
