I agree about Edwina's agreeable-ness and naivete being *SO ANNOYING!!* Literally no personality, but I can't really blame her because she was trained for 8 years to be that way to get a British Nobleman to marry her. 🙃
yeah and obviously it’s so much because they need us to be on Kates side ahahah
it's sad to be honest. kate made sure she'd grow up to be the perfect bride, which in their society's standards was agreeable, smart but not too much, and beautiful. (spoiler) thankfully, the final episodes show edwina's true nature and finally allow her to become her own person.
And Kate's entire Pick Me "I can be just like the boys look at me" behaviour is not annoying ? She's obnoxious and undiplomatic the entire show. The directors are to blame, Edwina has more personality and independence and Kate isn't nearly as "I don't need no man" in the book.
@@a.j.1819 *I don't find Kate's behavior annoying because she's no different than Eloise, is somewhat like Daphne, and is the EXACT MIRROR to Anthony's personality & family structure experience.* Eloise, also, doesn't want nor does she feel like she needs a man. *Kate doesn't hate men, she just didn't want to ever get married and wanted to not be deterred from hunting & horseback riding just because she's a woman. The second time she spoke to Anthony, she humbled him because he was treating women like breeding cattle and she didn't like him for a long time after that due to what he said about women just before that second meeting on the party terrace. That's the OPPOSITE of being a Pick-Me.*
*Kate's undiplomatic, manipulative, aggressive, loyal, bossy, and family-oriented behavior is due to the trauma of having to become the head-of-the-household so young due to her parents' death; Kate is the exact mirror of Anthony in all these qualities and personality traits.* In fact, the show writers toned down Anthony's character in Season 2, but he was just as dramatic as Kate in Season 1. *They actually took some of Anthony's lines in Season 1 and had Kate say them in Season 2.*
I find Edwina annoying because she's oblivious and has no personality besides trying to be agreeable, *but I empathize with her because I understand she's been trained to be that way since she was a child. I sympathize with Kate because I honestly relate to her character because I carry the same burdens as her and had to morph into having the same personality as her since childhood; Kate also had to become undiplomatic and manipulative to take care of her family since she was a child. Kate and Anthony are both Twin-Flames that are the father-figures and sole providers for their families.* 🤷🏾♀️
Edwina grows an entire personality during the wedding episode when she rips Kate and Anthony a new one

Kate and Anthony completely wrecked me this season. I thought Simon and Daphne were it, but Season 2 has completely blown me out of the water.
3:09 fun fact: the father, Edmund, was picking hyacinths to give to Violet before he got stung. Violet was pregnant at the time, which ended up being a girl, who they named hyacinth 🪻,
And when you have an allergic reaction, most of the time your airways close up, the amount varies, and you essentially suffocate to death. Due to the fact that Edmond got stung in the neck, it closed up his airways almost immediately. He probably still would’ve died, but if it stung him anywhere else, he would’ve at least gotten some time to say goodbye to his family.
And not knowing what you’re allergic to, especially in the 1800s and earlier was quite common. Medicine and medical knowledge was not very great at the time in most countries actually or just in general. Doctors for the most part didn’t even wear gloves or mask or anything, because they didn’t know about germs or what germs could do.
So their fathers death was a very serious thing. And very traumatic, especially for Anthony. I think what is missing from the show is the fact that Anthony wholeheartedly truly believes he will die young because he sees his dad as such a great man, There’s no way he could possibly outlive him. (apparently, this is a real medical condition that can sometimes affect men who lose their fathers at a young age.) this is mostly his entire motivation behind finding a wife. He had a whole timeline organized: get married to someone who doesn’t love him so they won’t be devastated when he inevitably dies, and make sure he marries fast enough so they have time to have a few children to carry on the name before he dies.

In case no one told you, and I'm sorry if they already have. In the books, Anthony had an irrational fear of dying young, basically he saw his father as perfect and therefore he, Anthony, could not live past the age his father passed away at. Seems silly, but I have irrational fears, so I get it. Kate has a similar fear of storms because her mother died of an illness during a storm, it was a HUGE deal in the books.

no because forgetting all the shit about men deciding what to do with a woman's body regarding childbirth. That is so traumatizing for Anthony. Like your father dies and then you're asked to choose between your mom and your sibling. I really felt for him
I only just realised that Anthony and Dad were alone in the woods so not only did they decease the deer, they just left it there. The least they could do was use it in some way
They probably were planning on getting a servant to haul it away when they returned. But obviously the death happened.
Some one from the most likely went out to get the deer and then they probably are it since they didn’t have Costco or Walmart to shop for food!

"Their dad died of a bee sting". True story a relative of mine was out plowing his field one day and he always came home for lunch so when he didn't his wife and kids went out to see what was wrong. He was dead in the field. A bee sting on the back of his neck. That was only 12 years ago

She's not stupid, just very innocent and takes things at face value. Especially because she couldn't think of her sister wanting to get it on with the guy she's supposed to be paired up with. Back then (and possibly still, depending on the people) it would be considered a betrayal on her sister's part, and Edwina can't picture her sister betraying her like that. Especially not after all the hard work she's put in to make sure Edwina marries well. She's one of those "too good for this world" kind of girls, poor thing.
