The little bit of money I spent on the SDK lanyard tube removal tool was oh so well worth it, lol. Position it, turn the wing nut a couple turns and boom..scales off.
Definitely high entertainment value in watching the brute force on the lanyard collar and gnashing my teeth wondering whether you'd stab yourself in the wrist with the screwdriver prying it free. Every good story is tension and repose, I suppose.

This is why you need a pair of torx drivers to dissamble without pliers. An extra $14 for a set of Wiha micro torx bits.
