Blaze Foley and The Beaver Valley Boys- Little Ol' Show

- This performance was discovered on a VHS tape given to us by Dana Cooper.
Dana, along with Shake Russell and John Vandiver were also on the tape, possibly from this same show.
Walter Hyatt was a friend of Blaze, as was Champ Hood.
Champ played on Blaze's "Live at The Austin Outhouse" releases.
If you don't know it already, check out the music of Walter Hyatt and Uncle Walt's Band (with Champ Hood and David Ball)
Its a sad sack of shit that only a few of us have watched this, but at least we're in good company.
Class though shout out fae bonnie Scotland
That just means we got taste the world not so much!!
Young Jesse Welles' cover of "Clay Pigeons" got me into Blaze Foley, who I'd never heard of, and again to the great John Prine (who I'd listened to alot and took to heart well before) and now I'm listening to everything he recorded. I even discovered Towns Van Zandt cos he was a big supporter of Blaze
The most famous singer & player who wasn't famous.
Yes and Nick Drake too.
A true troubadour!!! beautiful poetry, this guy sure made his footprint heard!sad that it took Merl
Haggard to make a hit with" if I could Only fly"not that it's bad but Blaze mad his mark on my heart
Just in awe, anytime there's more blaze stuff i havent seen. Im from indiana and people dont know of him up here. Born the year he died and now in my 30s only knew of him for a few years, but a real genuine genius songwriter. Some people just get it and he was one. Legend.
Love Blaze in the cotton patch of Mississippi here.
Agreed, Texans forgets these guys too unfortunately. Townes van zandt sings Blaze's Blues (Live at the Old Quarter album) and before the song says if you're playing cards with Blaze and you drew a three he'd draw a two. Michael Hurley is another great songwriter we're less familiar with in the south.
Agreed.
I second your sentiment 💯
I'm from Indy. We know!
Bravo!! So gifted, a loss for all of us
Any friend of Townes is a friend of mine!!! God bless Texas!!
I was there the day they taped this - Blaze closed with "Let Me Ride In Your Big Cadillac" w/ Jimmy Don Smith and Tony Braunagle! Too bad it didn't fit the format - it was epic! I sure miss Blaze- hope to see him again.
To a Blaze fan this is a holy grail-esque find. Thank you for posting this, it's absolutely made my day!
I've been sober for 20 years, but I sure wish I could buy blaze a drink, or a bag of weed.
THANK YOU WALT FOR THIS WONDERFUL VIDEO , BRINGS BACK YEARS OF MUSICAL JOY , WITH THE EXTRAORDINARILY TALENTED
BLAZE FOLEY AND THE BEAVER VALLEY BOYS - GURF MORLIX , JIMMY DON SMITH , TONY BRAUNAGAL , BILLY BLOCK , RANDY BULLAH , TERRY WILSON , AND FROM TIME TO TIME , TIM KENNEDY , TERESA JAMES , AND TOMMY LEE BRADLEY. , OTHERS , NOW AND THEN …I WAS BLESSED TO MANAGE BLAZE FROM ‘77.5 to ‘82.5. ……MY SPECIAL THANKS TO BRUCE BRYANT FOR THIS WORK OF GREAT MUSICAL/ AUDIO WORK AND HISTORY AND TO YOU , WALTER HYATT , YOUR PRESENCE IS SORELY MISSED IN HOUSTON:

God has him now but God only knows what he would have done in this world...he was a good soul and died a hero..he's a hero if mine
.
Love Blaze so much. Tender memories...
You are a lucky man bro
Otis brought me here. And this is amazing
thanks for posting from England. I try and play Townes and Blaze stuff in pubs over here, and it's always the Blaze tunes that get the best response. Both were geniuses though.
Whereabouts are you playing? What area?
Blaze was something else 🌞
@@ChillingCrowley he's deceased
@@stardust4225 He only posted a month ago😑
“Take it Blaze” !
too young to have been there but old enough to enjoy this 🙂
he was wearing a new hat
that evening ❤
I love finding blaze foley videos I’ve never seen before
Just beautiful.
A great lil ole show by the Duct Tape Mesia
LOVE! 6 years of loving the music and the man of blaze foley this year. What an exhilarating songwriter ❤ so pure
Thanks for sharing.
Reminds me of John Prine, both fabulous talents
John covered Blaze’s song “Clay Pigeons”
This fleshed out version of "If I Could Only Fly" is really lovely 💙
I think adding all the instruments takes a lot of the sadness out of it. Nothing beats the live at the austin outhouse version with just the guitar, harmonica and vocals.
Wow so glad I found this video. Wish there was more live stuff of Blaze.
Man, Blaze made it look easy...so awesome.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Blaze got the whole package.. Goot guitar player, Great singer, and an Awsome songwriter.. and also a really cool and intresting dude ❗❗😎
Blaze was an original. He's a legend now.
This is gotta be the classic Blaze of all time. Can't beat this!
3:02 Blaze says "Pick it Blaze". Lol Never heard anyone tell themselves to "pick it".
Encouraging himself 🤣
only Blaze
I had to go back and inspect that claim….he does😂🤣💀
Guy Clark does the same thing actually, in Homegrown Tomatoes, lol
Love this. Love Blaze Foley.
Ol Blaze be styling. Lookin and sounding great. Ya gotta love love the man.
No duct tape
Thank you for that video! It's a treasure! I love the songs of Blaze so very much! ❤
thanks for sharing this man !
For what it's worth, I'm coming in from left field and had never heard of him. This is a MAGICAL find!! (Big Beefheart and Brian Wilson fan, so always delighted to find another maverick.)
If he'd had more time on this earth.. wish I'd have found him sooner in mine... But now I have and I intend to enjoy thanks to TH-cam
Dito
Hope he has some way of knowing how much he and his music were and are appreciated. Bless you Michael Fuller aka Blaze Foley.
Thanks Walter for posting this wonderful video of Blaze Foley. I am a big fan of his songs.
Your spelling of his last name has me thinking you’re telling fibs😂
Thanks , Blaze diserves to spell his name right. I am from the Nederlands and not very good with the American writing 😅
So thankful this exists! Many thanks ol son
Wow! What a gem.
Man this is gold… better than the recordings imo
thanks so much for this wonderful video by Blaze Foley , maybe the best songwriter ever !
In 1st place, we have Townes Van Zandt, in 2nd place we have Guy, Clark, in third we have Graham Parsons, and then we have Blaze Foley. Still a pretty lofty perch to be sitting on.
@@michaelwilliamson7276 Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, Van Morrison, Gordon Lightfoot.
John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley
this is the BEST! Thank you SO MUCH! BLAZIN!
Bass from the shoulder, kinda wacky, but it's working for him. Maybe it helped him count. Blaze was a total trip. I knew him casually. He was tall and had the most intense, pearcing blue eyes ever. His sense of humor was always slightly off the wall, but usually right on the money for the situation. The world lost a real jewel in him. RIP Michael David Fuller.
I just keep finding more Blaze gems.so thankful for his music.brilliant songwriter and cool guy.hat is on point😊
Thanks for this!
this is a classic tier concert right here
🎶Tomorrow's still a day away...🎵
Love this 🫶🏼

Blaze Foley was brilliant. Thank you for posting this!
Great posting. Historic and wonderful.
Wow. Blaze & group are the best! DGL
Real cool
Thanks for the video - we got to keep ol' blaze's stuff safe till he comes back to get it. A roll of duct tape goes out to you.
just amazing
Great upload!!!
A catchy tune, before you know it, foot is tapping and it just elevates your mood!!!
Thank you
🇨🇦❤️🙏🏻
Love this!
Cool thanks a million!!
Loved it, thanks for sharing ❤
Gold! Thank you so much for this video.
this is sooooooo freakin awsome.. 😀😀
Feels like Blaze in his prime maybe. More approachable here than his crusty years.
Having a hard time figuring out if this footage is better than his hat.
It definitely is. The hat could be had at Chess King by anyone with $18.95 in 1978 (Gurf not included)....
@@FlyingZeroAGL lol. Chess King! Yessss.
That’s the good blaze- the one in the white clown hat.
Thank you for posting this!
There are so many levels to playing the guitar. The level that Blaze played at with the independent thumb is the hardest to master imo
HooDang that is some good chit
Super cool! Thank you!
Wonderful 😎
Thanks for posting this excellent video. 💥A real gem here. Again...many thanks.
Do you know this year?
Thanks, Walter for posting this. For those who'd heard about Blaze late it's solid gold.
I'm always ready for more Blaze! Thanks for sharing your time! KANSAS
Dam thank you for posting,🇨🇦 eh
A wee bit of gold cheers for the upload
IMPECCABLE
Such a cool video really enjoyed this masterpiece
Yep
Wow!!! Fucking amazing. Get up on this level slim shady
I think anyone who has been around will of known a drinking he’ll raiser in their time? But seldom with such talent.
Still waiting on the Disco... 😐 😉
His fingers always knew who he was and where he was...
Sitting on the door side of my bed, I listen to a blaze of truth from you.
Should I walk back to Austin I would like a time to play on the reel to reel a recording I did of you. In boxes on the other side of the wall is a piece of tape that holds a blaze of truth. Still still still getting over to the other side.
Of the song, other side, other side.
I don't know what those words are .. but I like it
@@jamesgibson5876 thanks, James.

Thank you so much
this is prime blaze foley
What year is this? This is great to see!😊
Duct tape angel.
OH YES!!!!
My introduction to Red Foley. A real Leon Redbone vibe... or maybe Leon had a Red Foley vibe. Either way, it's good.
red foley is a completely other person. read much?
Lol
Have looked at anything I could find of Blaze for some time, and I have the documentary, but this is great. What year is it?
Saw him once---for about 30 minutes. Silly X GF wasn't into it so we left. I should have paid for her to take a cab home
Dang he was good on the guitar
Goodness in E standard
Does anyone have a version of the first song where the audio doesn't go weird? And thanks for posting this Walter!

Anyone know the date or the year?
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
What year is this from?
Does anyone know what year this was recorded?
Searched the comments but didn't see a mention of it. Any insight on where this is from? Pbs? Public access?
