The dealer was thinking they had to order an SD card and that it would cost close to $400 to have it fixed. Thank you for this. Some people are just bloody brilliant.
$400? Dang...!!! Since we are closer to 2025 there might be a newer version than what I tested in my navigation update video. This video is for firmware and there is a separate video for Navigation map update video.
For those having issues. Do not rename the files as it says in the instructions from Toyota. Just download the files and copy them into a USB without renaming and it should work fine. Thanks for the video. It helped me.

i want to update mine but model id doesnt match, how did you do it?
Although they offer OTA (over the air) updates using your paired cellphone, the new firmware versions don't always appear and it might say "no updates available", even when there are updates. I found this out today when trying to do the OTA method. I had to resort to the method shown in this video. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for sharing this information. I updated my RAV 4. The only thing I would add is to shut off the automatic update option. If it isn't shut off, the system doesn't see the updates on the USB. Other then that it work like a charm.

Is there a Firmware update website for Australia?
I kept getting "active subscription required" message. I mistakenly renamed the files which I thought the instructions on Toyota's website was telling me to do AND the usb drive I was using wasn't formatted correctly. I am on Mac and formatted it to fat32. I used exFAT before that and it wasn't working.
Just completed a software update with my radio on. had no issues went from 1027 to 1162 on nav went from 1013 to 1150. That was a software. How does one do a FirmWare Update on a 2020 Highlander?

I tried on highlander 2017 xle but my car doesn't detect usb. I tried formating with FAT32 but still is not detected. But Im able to charge my phone.

Own an Avalon 2020 I am trying to update the screen according to the latest update of Toyota The problem is that the update doesDoes not match With the model id DCU and model ID MEU Of the screen
..note that the model number of the car screen is
ID DCU 17TDT2ME-EA24
ID MEU:
17TMT2ME-EA21

Does this update the map data also? My state changed all the exit numbers a while ago, would like to get the new map data.
This is only for the firmware (software portion). Toyota site does not state it update maps. I guess have to contact dealer to update maps.

According to Toyota firmware site-
1) Apple CarPlay does not start immediately after connecting iPhone.
2) Intermittent Radio Rebooting.
3) Tune knob doesn’t change the track in all audio sources.
4) Music does not resume when changing the volume, and the audio source is paused.
5) Incorrect FM and XM genre information.
6) Blower motor mode does not match the actual blower mode.
@@LionRunner I don't have any of the above issues with my 2014 Camry. The only issue is MP3 audio will not play unless its formatted in outdated legacy FAT32. Not just Toyotas but all MP3 players.

I bet it should be same as this. When I go to the Toyota firmware link in the description and select 2019 CH-R I see 2 firmware updates "17TMT2NA-DA01" & "17TDT2NA-EA07"
Hey there, I anticipate this message finds you . I just did this update but the navigation update didn’t show when I put the usb in only the radio did. I’ve tried other usb and multiple times downloading just the navigation update but for some reason that one doesn’t show. Do you have any suggestions you could give for this to try out. Thank you !
I didn't do anything special. I just formatted using my windows laptop and followed "Software Download Instructions" on Toyota firmware site.
So I updated when I send this message but now it’s doing the same thing no audio but everything works for 2020 4Runner I hear the beep as well . What should I do ?

I'm trying to update my navigation system in my 2017 Toyota Corolla. The website listed sent me to the Toyota firmware update but they don't have the navigation update only the audio update. It says visit the dealer..... any ideas on how I can update the navigation? I really want Google maps available on my system but it only has scout navigation and I don't like it at all

I'm updating my map with a third party Navigation GPS Card. Should have it by next week.

Understood, however after installing the Amazon GPS SD map card the navigation voice was disabled. Maybe updating the firmware could resolve the voice problem.

@@HiQew I would try a firmware update if available. If not I would show it to the dealer. Don't want to mess things and having to spend ton of money for a new headunit if anything goes wrong.

Hello friend, I'm looking for the stereo firmware from Toyota camry 2013. I have a problem with my Bluetooth and I think that if I reload the firmware it could be fix.
With my experience some times removing the phone from headunit saved phones and removing the headunit from phones saved Bluetooth list and then start connecting like a new phone might also help. Yes definitely see if 2013 Camry has any downloads from the Toyota website. If that didn't help your Toyota dealership could help you to factory reset your headunit.

Hi Ismail, if you have problems like can't use navigation that is definitely something you should put Toyota dealership attention.

Hi Paul, you would have to go to the site "www.toyota.com/firmware-updates#" -> Enter Model = Prius then Enter year = 2012. It will show if you have any firmware update. If so you can do the same step as I did downloading that firmware and then installing that to your car. If that doesn't work you would have to show it to the dealer.
I went step by step, but my car aske subscription to start updating! Is there anyway to circumvent the subscription?
That's very interesting. I just checked for few 4Runner years and I did not get any subscription option. When I select 2020, 2021 I get the download options and when I select 2019 it says there is no update. Did not see subscription option.

Sadly if your headunit didn't come with apple carplay from factory this firmware will not add it. This firmware is update version to existing features. Will not add new. Sorry.

Thank you for sharing but i have one question is this work in Europe as we don’t have access to that website anyway i succeeded to to download the set up but i afraid to run on my rav4 Europe version?
I don't think it would be a good idea to download USA firmware to be used in Europe as when I check for something like 2021 Rav4 I see fixes like "Incorrect FM and XM genre information." in multimedia & maps update, so it might mess up your good working settings. General operating system section firmware update does not seem to have region specific fixes. But I'm not sure if its good to get US region firmware to Euro. Sorry..

When I search for 2023 Rav4 Hybrid using the link in the description I get "There are no multimedia updates available for this vehicle". So you should have the newest software version for your headunit.

You save yourself £150 which is what the dealer charges to up 😱called them today and they told me the price has changed to this new amount 😂
I think £150 is for map update right? This firmware update is just the firmware/ software update. It will not update the maps. It is to make the software side of things to make it more stable and correct any bugs. If you are looking for map update and your maps are on microsd card search on Amazon or similar site (For US its about 35bucks). For firmware for UK I cannot suggest you to use VPN to change location to USA as it might mess-up regional settings simple as radio settings.

When I look at "www.toyota.com/firmware-updates" it didn't give an option for 2013 Yaris. Please try yourself as well, if I miss anything.

Does it matter if the usb drive is formatted to fat or ntfs?
Sorry I'm not sure as the install instructions only say USB has to be blank. Does not say format with what file system.

If you don't have any update available you are all good. Same with my 2019, no update needed. 2021 had software updates. So if it says no updates needed to your vehicle no need to worry about it.

As for my case, 2021 4runner the navigation update come from the yearly subscription service "Dynamic Navigation". For pre-2020 5th gen 4runners with navigation you need to get the newest navigation microsd card. The map update is stored on the microsd card.

2) Click on "Select A vehicle" down arrow
3) Select Model = Rav4, Year = 2018
4) Select multimedia type = with or without navigation
5) Download the updated / updates available and continue as shown on the video

I'm sorry I don't know how it would impact out side of US. One can use a private VPN to change the location and download. But I don't know how it would impact the firmware installed for Australia.

Does the 2014 Camry hybrid have a gps sd card? Check your headunit for a small flap like thing to open to access the SD card for maps. If so you can buy the newest map by searching for Map Update 86271-0E073 on Toyota parts site or Amazon. Un plug the old card and insert the new.

@@atulc1707 that is strange not to have a SD card in the "MicroSD HC" slot. Normally the map microsd card go in the slot named "MicroSD HC" slot. May be Camry has a different way. ☹️

Correct. Software can be updated over the air. You would have to check "Multimedia Owner's Manual" to see if your Toyota is equipped for over-the-air updates. Or try going to Settings -> Software update sub menu. If that's not available you would have to go with USB update.

Per the Toyota site its only headunit firmware. In my case maps are downloaded from cloud as long as I pay the monthly/ yearly subscription for dynamic navigation services. Previous 4Runner system would require the latest map microsd card.

For apps I use Google maps if I use android auto and for trails I use OnX now and previously Gaia. But I'm not a good resource to ask about OnX and Gaia. Wish they were easy as using Google maps..😀
