I followed the same prosedyre as you did on my Hyundai kona el. But the car is not reading the SD card which i formatted and copied the update on.
Wont even install properly just gets errors, Hyundai is shit.
I have Elentra 2018 Limited. I updated it from the official website. Downloading and transferring files to 32 Gb SD (Scandisk Ultra 10) class 10 was OK. The problem shows when inserting the SD card into the Vehicle. The card is not acceptable. I do not know which card can be OK. The dealer is asking $150. Any idea of the solution?
All, if your vehicle shows the file format is FAT32, MAKE SURE to get a SD card of 32GBs. If you get a larger one, it will take a loooong time to get it to work. Due to having to use third party apps to format to FAT32 GB, then partitioning to a volume of 32GB
FAT32 is a file system. It has nothing to do with the amount of storage required for the drive or storage capacity. You can format just about any SD card or USB to FAT32 in seconds. There is no need to partition a larger drive to use only 32GB. Both PC and Mac can read and format drives to FAT32 using their built in software (no third party apps).
@Justin Kelly yes, fat32 is a file system, an outdated one. Just realized i put GB. Most average SD cards will be ExFAT or NTFS, but some downloads NEED FAT32 file system. I'm trying to say make sure you have a 32 GB FAT 32 SD card, cause if you have one larger than that, the updater application won't like it. I had to use third party tools to format a large size sd to Fat32, then partition a 32 gb volume on top of that in order to get it downloaded

I recently got a Hyundai Sonata 2015 and the SD Card is only 16gb and it requires at least 32gb for the update, can I use a SD Card that is not a Hyundai one for this process?
Yes! Just make sure to use a high quality, name brand card that is at least Class 10 U1. Most everything is anymore but definitely stay away from the no name brands.

I have a 2014 Hyundai azera limited, with the original built-in navigation system in it. The update says 2015 and up, but I'm going to try it anyway 👍🏾

I appreciate that you didn't cut the part about your battery dying. I know it probably annoys you that its in the video but it let me know what I needed to ensure my Kona would stay running during the update and that it might take some time. I updated my Kona yesterday for the first time since 2018. It took a total of 40 minutes. I assume as long as I do this annually it wont be that long again.
I also had to figure out if I needed to use a new SD Card or if I had to use the current card. The map website has a document that clearly states that I must use the current (OEM) card. After 3 emails and 2 messages and finally 1 phone call I finally was informed that any card will do as long as it is 32gb. I also got the answer to another question: The card must stay in the card. It's not just for moving files from computer to car. That is basically the "hard drive" where you maps are stored while the car is in use.

If it's not working, I would make sure you have downloaded everything correct and try again.

Bricked my unit by accidentally pressing engine off button while update was running. There’s a method of un-bricking it by plugging in usb Keyboard into usb slot and using Linux commands. The commands work (might be able to Google search it) but my unit was still bricked and couldn’t recover so had to go the expensive route of replacing nav unit. Got my unit updated on 2nd try lol. Anyway wanted to share my fun Hyundai adventure, GL to all.

Thank you Justin! Mine failed the 1st time. 2nd time took almost an hour and a half!!! I'm a little miffed I had to update it at all. JUST bought this '22 Kona "fresh off the boat" pretty much in June, and this update was released before my car was even built! Shouldn't have been necessary at all!
Great to hear. It seems that the factory units are at least half a year behind if not a full version behind when it comes to the version. Luckily enough it's fairly easy to do at home.

I have the Elantra 2017. To update this I would need the car as card and a usb? What type of usb would I need to buy? Also I have the android auto app on the car system but not apple carplay? Will the update get apple CarPlay?
If you have navigation, then you need to use the SD card. If you don't, then you will update as display audio V1 I believe using USB. Just make sure there is an update available for your vehicle. That's odd that you don't have Carplay as I thought all had it by then.

Maybe anyone had similar problem as me? With 2018 ioniq hybrid european version? After instaliation in the original 32 gb card, and installing in to the car, its sayes that the files are missing, or corruptep...
I dowhloaded the program, in the program their are several files, 5 of the files are zipped files, do I have to unzip those files for it to work ?? When I put the flash drive in the usb, on top of the display it says momentarily ( reading usb ) then it goes away, when I hit the download button it says reinsert the usb and try again. This is on a 22 Tucson

My navigation doesnt find places in other contries.ex i live in belgium but i can't search for places in germany. it's very difficult to search for adresses

I would also note that the Updater App is the same for Genesis, Hyundai and Kia. Under the settings menu you can change between the three so you don't need to download multiple copies of the app. Discovered this recently when I went to update our 2019 Kia and our new 2023 Santa Fe.
I have a SanDisk ultra 64gb class 10 and I can't get it to the SD card it says device not supported bc the capacity it 64 Gb and when I called blue link this is what they told me to do. So confusing. Can you help?
Ahg Operator error!! I could have used the old (OG) SD card all along but it was locked! I bought 3 different SD cards for this 🙄🙄🙄. Sheesh! The first was a micro but only 32 GB the second a 64GB and a micro the update will not allow a micro card!! the 3rd a 64GB class 10 and then noticed the original that came with the car was locked. Random question but can you drive while the update is running or do you need to be stationary?
You can drive however some functions will not work until it is finished.

This is really frustrating, I did exactly like you did in the video. Picked all the right info for my car, but when I go to plug into car it says no supported file type.
I just now updated my wife's 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe navigation. It took 30 minutes to transfer files from USB drive and 55 minutes for the update process to complete.

He replied to others that Hyundai said any name brand (SanDisk, Samsung, Lexar, Kingston, should all be good) 32GB card that is Class 10 and U1 or greater is acceptable. Don't forget to format it in FAT32 before beginning the download.
Took my brand new Santa Cruz to the dealer to get an update on Applecar play, which was not working properly. They did NOT want to perform the Hyundai approved update specifically for CarPlay connection problems…which I had. They said.."go home and do it yourself " REALLY? Pay you $40,000 and 1 week later I have to argue and plead with you to see if the update will fix my problem. Not a good way to keep a customer Hyundai.

This video helped me - THANK YOU! I have a separate question that you may have an answer to... My 2016 Elantra GT has a panoramic roof. When open, the glass slides back and sits just beyond the edge of the roof line. Is there any roof rack that is compatible with this panoramic roof? I've been to two dealers - one said yes, but they no longer add them on, and the other said he would look into it for me and never got back to me. I haven't found anything online and there is nothing compatible at Thule or Yakima.
I am not aware of any roof racks that will work fully with the sunroof open. Most of them will work with the sunroof vented but not slid back. It is due to the design of the glass how it sits over the edge like you mentioned.

They should not stop working due to being older. Are you certain the wireless charging is being used correctly and is turned on?
Question I know you see how the kIA display and screen pixel looks is there a way to upgrade that, the pixel on the hyundais are garbage
The resolution? There is no upgrade without changing the screen which is not readily possible.
i’m trying to do this with my hyundai santa fe 2018… says to use an SD card but my car does not have a slot for it, i’ve checked everywhere. tried to use the usb like i did for the audio display (which only worked after i downloaded the files from chrome instead of safari) but it doesn’t read the update in the car when i plug it in, so why does it say SD card when it doesn’t even have one?
Should be under a rubber flap that says "map" on the nav unit.

I don't understand if what "built in" means. If ur Hyundai has a built-in "navi" button, but pressing it says navigation is not installed.. can u then add navigation by using this method?
"Built in" means that it has onboard Navigation without using a secondary service such as Apple Carplay or Android Auto. This cannot be added after the fact.
After I put in my sd card my car keeps saying that not compatible with hardware version. What do I do?
I would make sure you are downloading the correct update file. You might have to try another SD card also.

If the vehicle has navigation capabilities then it should be ok to download an update to an SD and install it. If there is no SD currently, then maps shouldn't be working.

This might not work because if the system starts the update and fails it might not be able to recognize the old software. You can definitely try this method though as it should not hurt anything. If it works, you'll then just have to leave that SD card inside the slot.

I would recommend reformatting and downloading the software on the USB. Then repeat the update inside of the vehicle making sure to keep it running and watch until complete.

When I tried to do so I found that the my Hyundai web site saying (navigation update downloads are temporarily unavailable). For many days. it get an error code 107 and it says that the file is corrupted i re installed 6 time but not working

I have a 2017 Hyundai Accent - it's not in the list of models. It has CarPlay, so I'm super confused as to why an update doesn't seem available. I'm really after one new "feature": Turning the radio off! I can turn all audio off, but if I'm using (and listening to) google maps, for example, the only way to stop the radio is to select media from my phone to play, then pause it. Super hacky!

Does anyone know if this will update the software to include Android Auto/Apple Car Play on a 2016 Veloster? I just purchased one and the previous owner never updated it. I figure if I can add Android Auto, it will minimize the impact of phasing out the 3G network, which is required for the vehicle to connect to in order to use onboard navigation and Blue Link.
Answering my own question in case someone else has the same question... YES! This update includes Android Auto and Apple Car Play!

I have a 2013 Veloster Turbo, but my car is not listed in the nav update software. Does this mean this nav system cannot be updated? Thanks if you know!
I am not sure why the older systems are not listed. You might have to mail order the USB drives to update them instead of being able to download them.
Same for my wife's beloved 2012 Veloster. A couple of years ago, i ordered the update for $50 shipped online. It came on a USB drive, and we performed the update. But they no longer offer that option for the older head units. When my wife called about it, she was told that too many people were bricking their head units, so they now require that a dealer service department do the updates.

If you have factory navigation then yes. Hyundai's updater tool will help you through the entire process.

Yes you can use any SD card or even buy one directly through MapNSoft at checkout. There is an extra fee for mail and the SD card.

Kia has their own updates that can be performed. You will likely have to buy the update and have it shipped though.
It's the exact same process for Kia, Hyundai and genesis. It's the same software and if you go to settings you can change it to Kia

If it is new within the last 6 months or so it might take 1-2 updates for them to show up but yes the roads will be updated with these updates.
Hey, ive just updated the nav on my tuscon but the roads that are showing are all in grey colors, doesnt matter if its a main road, a side road, its all the same. Is that on purpose tho? Also all of them are with the same thickness, so you cant really tell what is what. In the previous version, it was all seperated by the color.
You might be able to change that in the settings however I am unfamiliar with the Tucson showing colored roads. That may have been related to traffic on them?
it gave you that 39 gig error when you tried to directly download it to your 32 gig SD card. however, it did not cause any problems when you copied it over from your hard drive to SD card. What's the reason for that and did you run into any issues with your update. I have a 64 (57.3) gig thumb drive for my sonata 2021, update is 35 gigs and the downloader requires 59 gigs of space on the thumb drive. Not sure why?
I had to make more room on my hard drive to meet the minimum space requirements but after I did, it worked fine. I am unsure why it doesn't let you download directly to the external storage device. It requires extra space on the hard drive also for the download.
i HAVE A 2014 Equus that I cannot even with Hyundai support could not upload update for the GPS. I can't find the chip location either. Do you have any experience with this model? Must be a black sheep in the family. Thank you. Fred

Yes you can use any high quality, class 10 SD card that is 32gb or greater.

No because the Accent doesn't come with Navigation to my knowledge. You would have the display audio update if anything.

Yes it should be available but they only release updates for the older systems once a year in the Spring. You can still order it now if you wanted.

When's the best time to eject the thumb drive after the update is done without a) corrupting data or b) having the system restart the update all over again?
I have only ran into the system doing the entire update twice once on a 2020 Kia Telluride. It was a painfully long process (well over an hour) but after the second go around it didn't start again. I don't know if it was a fluke or what. You can remove the USB after the system restarts (after it gets through updating the modem and everything).

No. You would need to use an aftermarket dongle to accomplish anything close to that.
