I like how most of my games from that gen are still playable on Series X with better performance, nicer resolution, and faster load times (Gta 4 is a locked 60fps and you can barely see the first loading screen artwork before you are put into the game). Sony since 2020 has fully embraced the politics of California. Spider-Man 2 was quickly sold by myself and it will be the last PS game I buy.

One of the craziest things I learned about Bethesda, is there was one guy who did all the concept art for Fallout 3. He literally died during pre-production of Fallout 4 which is why the art style changed so dramatically.

Part of it is they made the characters less attractice, part of it is the graphics as a whole make characters uglier. I liked the new graphics when it came to enemies, weapons and environment, but characters looked really bad

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I didnt buy it but i loved waching the playthroughs. Cuff is unironically a great character. And they freaking nailed the entitled zoomer poc girl character too, and i think its really neat they went the play as the villain route, theres like no games that do that.

Congrats man. Some people might say it's a tough path because of all the stuff you'll likely not enjoy anymore. However, it can also be freeing, as you're no longer bound by any sort of pressures (societal, FOMO, etc) to consume the latest piece of media that's being hyped up. Also your wallet will thank you and you'll have more time on your hands to do other more enjoyable and/or productive things.
Honestly I only agree with about 40% of what Synthetic says half the time but he’s the only person who speaks his mind and doesn’t pander to all the fake BS. Rather have someone I don’t always see eye to eye with but tells his truth than someone who is taking money behind the scenes and is agreeable.
It's a sad state that, 5-10 years ago we used to complain about remakes, and still do, but now, because the industry is so untalented and uncreative, we jump for joy at remakes of good games just so we can actually play good games again.
The main problem with these games nowadays - especially with games like Spiderman 2, or Alan Wake, is that they’re outsourced to companies such as Sweet Baby Inc, which utterly destroy the story in order to infuse unneeded wokeology and “representation”, which is ALWAYS cringe when it’s forced upon the player.

Spiderman 2’s Story was non-sensical at times and it was so predictable that they’d try to replace Spiderman with Miles Morales (as evidenced through the story). Alan Wake II’s story didn’t really make much sense either in many of the interactions Saga had with colleagues or other characters. Most of the game - at least a significant portion of the game was played as her, rather than as Alan. Once again, not a bad game totally, but it was extremely easy to tell where SweetBabyInc had their hand in story - development.

I’ve totaled up all the slop. You saved me a total of 200ish hours of my life by skipping awful games this year. I bought a kayak and went fishing instead. I had only 3 games I enjoyed this year and only 1 had Debora in it. That’s 1 too many, but o well.

Say whatever you want about Oblivion and how it began a trend of dumbing down Bethesda games, as flawed as it is, at least that game was genuinely fun. You could even say that about Skyrim and I wouldn't argue too much, the point where I gave up on Bethesda was Fallout 4, that was the first game from them I just found straight up boring.

As someone who used to work in this shitstain of an "industry" and left to go full indie, all I can say is that games will keep being woke as long as the "vermin" are allowed to "contribute" to game dev. On a totally unrelated note, I'm rly sad the Adventures of spider-man & spider-boy didn't win GOTY. Then again I suppose that fits with the game's central theme of cuckolding the audience.
I think the reason Bethesda games have more unkillable characters isn’t their arrogance. It’s because their games are held together by scotch tape and that would break the game further than they’re willing to fix.
Surprised to see BG3 here. "Why does anyone like this game?" Because they have no idea what a good RPG looks like. BG3 is the lamest, dullest, most perfunctory RPG ever made. The combat is rote. The characters are painfully uninteresting. The story is schizophrenic and goes nowhere satisfying. At no time in my 240 hours with BG3 was I ever in danger of being amused, entertained, or engaged. Quite frankly, BG3 is no different than Starfield and I'm sick of pretending it's not. BG3 is simply incompetent. It's a poor man's RPG. Anyone looking for an RPG can do better.

I refuse to buy RE4's remake. Charging 10 bucks for something like Separate Ways, which has been standard content since the PS2 release, sets a heinously bad precendent. Expect to see more remakes that do that. I'm like 99% sure Atlus is gonna do the same thing with the FES content for their P3 remake.

I truly wonder what the future of AAA video games will be. Will there be a large scale collapse like in the 80s (a hard collapse), or will the industry just hang around forever like a stale fart as indie titles hoover up the scraps (a soft collapse)? If things do fall apart, how quickly will things rebound? Or, will gaming become a niche hobby again? Will it be a combination of the things I mentioned, or none of them? Granted, similar questions could asked about the future of the West as well...
It will definitely take a game to completely revolutionize gaming wether for the best or worst for the game industry to change. Most game design of single player games are in some way shape or form inspired by the last of us which is an example a game that attracted a lot of mainstream attention and you can witness that since that game other game development teams have tried copying its design. Weather it is incorporating its stealth mechanics, camera style, and pacing. Though I’ll say pacing has gotten much worse now.

I know Baldur's Gate is by definition a great RPG, but its full of disgusting sexual degeneracy and woke shit. Which really brings it down, in my opinion. I can't recommend a game that i would be embarrassed for people to know i played.

It's a great game, but tragically short, even on the harder difficulties. I beat it in 2 1/2 hours on Extreme doing all side missions. Really hope it sold well though, with some more staff and effort, that team can really make a sequel special.

Not counting god awful starfield, Spider-Man two was truly one of the biggest disappointments I’ve played in awhile since last of us 2. Terrible writing and woke injections. I was really looking forward to it, but I keep forgetting how pathetically woke and PC western entertainment has become.

baldurs gay 3 is one of the most bugged games i've ever played. 30 frames in act 3 on 3080, fights were bugging constantly to a point of reloading a game, same with long rests. fucking cyberpunk was more playable at launch than this.

There’s no sense of ethnicity or race being a core element of people’s character, despite that literally being how it works in DnD. I had a nightmare once, where i bought Starfield and couldn't get a refund because i've passed the time limit, and at the end of it, i was at a party lamenting about that to a punk dude.

it's also a heavy aspect of the lore in the first game (something people won't say for some reason, we act as if aliens and skynet just... didn't exist?)

Man this year is kind of an eye opener to the entire gaming community as a whole if anyone thinks year was good, let alone decent there were a lot more negatives than positives especially for AAA games.
There is no apology necessary for giving GOTY to RE4 Remake! The original absolutely deserves to be in top 10 best games EVER made, and i think they did about as good a job on the remake as anyone could have expected.

Re1 remake and the originals 2 and 3 are all better than the og Re4. I remember hating re4 when it came cause it turned the franchise into a full action game. Many years later I gave it a chance again and ended up liking it (but the remake is still better in almost every way).

You made an excellent point. Even though Bethesda seems to think half of the NPCs are "essential" the truth is that none of them are actually essential. At least once you discover the artifact locations\how to find them the first time you don't need anyone's help after that. These small details are why people fawn over F:NV--because the game kicks you, freshly recovered gunshot victim, into the Mojave with nothing but a rusty old gun or two and a platinum chip on your shoulder. It pats you on the shoulder and says, "The deathclaws and man-eating wasps are that way. The guy that shot you went the other way. Good luck have fun."

One of the craziest things I learned about Bethesda, is there was one guy who did all the concept art for Fallout 3. He literally died during pre-production of Fallout 4 which is why the art style changed so dramatically.

It's a sad state that, 5-10 years ago we used to complain about remakes, and still do, but now, because the industry is so untalented and uncreative, we jump for joy at remakes of good games just so we can actually play good games again.
The main problem with these games nowadays - especially with games like Spiderman 2, or Alan Wake, is that they’re outsourced to companies such as Sweet Baby Inc, which utterly destroy the story in order to infuse unneeded wokeology and “representation”, which is ALWAYS cringe when it’s forced upon the player.
Spiderman 2 had a fun story and Alan Wake 2 was straight up art, so what exactly is the problem?

Alan Wake II’s story didn’t really make much sense either in many of the interactions Saga had with colleagues or other characters.
Most of the game - at least a significant portion of the game was played as her, rather than as Alan.
Once again, not a bad game totally, but it was extremely easy to tell where SweetBabyInc had their hand in story - development.

I know Baldur's Gate is by definition a great RPG, but its full of disgusting sexual degeneracy and woke shit. Which really brings it down, in my opinion. I can't recommend a game that i would be embarrassed for people to know i played.
Bethesda started that writing thing in Skyrim. They want every player to see everything that the writing team wrote.
This year is truly the greatest year in gaming, in that it inspired me to actually play the greatest games that came out before this year.
The proof of this is the 100k+ online people playing monster hunter world. That alone is a hard proof this year dind't scratch many inches. Aka meh games.

Surprised Trepang 2 isn't on this list. It's basically the shooter you wished the ones on this was.
It's a great game, but tragically short, even on the harder difficulties. I beat it in 2 1/2 hours on Extreme doing all side missions. Really hope it sold well though, with some more staff and effort, that team can really make a sequel special.

I can't stand Soyny for one, Spiderman wasn't as fun as it was hyped up to be, number 2 was obviously dlc (like Miles Morales) turned into a full release to cash in as much as possible with minimum effort. Even with the inclusion of Venom (my favorite Spiderman character), I had no desire to play this cash grab disguised as a AAA title. It's funny they make MM their (fake) Spiderman, since his solo game sold less than half the copies of Spiderman. Gonna shove woke down your throats till it kills us or them I guess 🤷🏻

Not counting god awful starfield, Spider-Man two was truly one of the biggest disappointments I’ve played in awhile since last of us 2. Terrible writing and woke injections. I was really looking forward to it, but I keep forgetting how pathetically woke and PC western entertainment has become.

baldurs gay 3 is one of the most bugged games i've ever played. 30 frames in act 3 on 3080, fights were bugging constantly to a point of reloading a game, same with long rests. fucking cyberpunk was more playable at launch than this.
The problems with BG3 is absolutely fuckikg cringe.
On act 3 onwards when the developers were replaced with talentless diversity hires that's where it went downhill.

There’s no sense of ethnicity or race being a core element of people’s character, despite that literally being how it works in DnD. Hell Tieflings are meant to be evil because they literally have cambion blood in them but no, they’re the innocent damsels in distress who need to be saved.
Starfield just pissed me off beyond what I can accept from a dev. So glad I played in on game pass instead of paying full price. Didn't even beat it to find new game plus. I just got bored.

it's also a heavy aspect of the lore in the first game (something people won't say for some reason, we act as if aliens and skynet just... didn't exist?)

Man this year is kind of an eye opener to the entire gaming community as a whole if anyone thinks year was good, let alone decent there were a lot more negatives than positives especially for AAA games.
There is no apology necessary for giving GOTY to RE4 Remake! The original absolutely deserves to be in top 10 best games EVER made, and i think they did about as good a job on the remake as anyone could have expected.

Re1 remake and the originals 2 and 3 are all better than the og Re4. I remember hating re4 when it came cause it turned the franchise into a full action game. Many years later I gave it a chance again and ended up liking it (but the remake is still better in almost every way).
@@soulzorsame I completely skipped it but tried it out later cuz it was in the $5 bin at gamestop. Was surprised how good it was. Still, it changed the series for the worse. It's not remotely horror oriented or scary in the least. Slow ass groaning zombies will always be scarier than minorities, no matter what Japan thinks.
The black protagonist that's good at jumping (Spiderman and Forespoken) is still very funny to me.

You made an excellent point. Even though Bethesda seems to think half of the NPCs are "essential" the truth is that none of them are actually essential. At least once you discover the artifact locations\how to find them the first time you don't need anyone's help after that. These small details are why people fawn over F:NV--because the game kicks you, freshly recovered gunshot victim, into the Mojave with nothing but a rusty old gun or two and a platinum chip on your shoulder. It pats you on the shoulder and says, "The deathclaws and man-eating wasps are that way. The guy that shot you went the other way. Good luck have fun."
