I find it Hilarious that when you kill an NPC that is sitting, that same NPC need to stand up because it NEED to be out of sitting animation before dying
You couldn't kill sitting NPCs in Mass Effect either... if you turned friendly fire on with a console command. Which the game waa not designed for. And it works AS WELL as Starfield.
Honestly I would prefer if they put all their resources into a project like that instead of asking us to sit through this game first. The whole appeal of Bethesda games is seeing how far modders can push it.
But but do you realize that this game will be played by stupid children who will later cry because the quest npc is dead and who will never accept to pay for their mistakes. Well we live in a world where parent never say no!
They're essential to quests that don't really matter to the story. Plus they could be killed and replaced with another npc who will serve the same purpose but that doesn't happen either.

Dev teams are like sports teams. They are only as good as the people currently are working in the team. Anyone who saw the Starfield direct and saw the people who work at Bethesda today should be able to know what to expect from the game. Today the people who work there are the soyboys and the dyed hair feminists so of course its super woke.
Bingo. All companies are just a group of people. If a bunch of those people move on, the company is no longer the same. On that note, Todd needs to retire. He has no clue what he's doing.
What Todd tried to do it in Stafield, Bioware have achieved with Mass Effect, more than a decade ago... The tech isn't inovative, the story is bland and boring, Bethesda rpg elements, as much folks like it are being replaced by emergent gameplay in other games, in other words is, outdated. NMS despite the broken launch already born a better game than Starfield, and today is something way better than when it was launched.
idc about that perse. Nobody should be essential, except children obviously. FNV and Morrowind done it no problem so why are we going backwards? Far too many were essential in Skyrim and fo4.
This is the game where Bethesda writers truly gave up. They didn't even bother this time around. There are questlines in Starfield that make Skyrim's Theives Guild look good by comparison. Everything is just dull and lazy.
Yeah, when you compare it unique quests in Oblivion like the painted world one that was just a random sidequest you can stumble across you can see how much less creative they've become.
Ugh Theives Guild was always my favorite guild and they are such a bunch of losers in Skyrim. But the Nightingale armor is badass. Feel like Batman in it
Crazy thing is imagine what the game would have been like if they released it when Todd thought it was good to go. Pretty sure Todd told Microsoft that it was ready to launch back in like 2021.
Cause Fallout NV was done by the team that worked on the original Fallout 1 and 2. Sadly Todd/Bethesda never got the idea behind the fallout universe. I mean cmon, just look at Fallout 4, People living with skeletons and corpses in their homes, nothing cleaned up. As if the nukes bombed away everything including the idea of cleaning.
Normies and leftards are the loudest and sometimes most influential in the entertainment business. This is what you get when you tolerate those imbeciles.
the real issue here is how 90% of reviewers including youtubers gave it a positive rating the week of release, the same ppl who mocked the facial animations of Mass Effect Andromeda, when the animations in Starfield are actually worse and they never brought it up.
theyre not worse than andromeda, and andromeda was compared to ME trilogy which was a cinematic masterpiece that no game will top for 50 years, the downgrade in terms of acting, world building and everything was heartbreaking not just disappointing, starfield isnt as much as a disappontment as that game was, still very disappointing but its not the level of andromeda
Reminds me of fallout 4 release. It was getting 9s and 10s and people were calling it a masterpiece not even a week into release lmfaooo. Fallout 4 is still a better game imo it’s still funny lmao
@@ibbyseed i can forgive poor FPS and other technical issues as they can be patched, but they took 8yrs to make this and said it has endless content when in reality its a barebones space sim that depends on modding community to fill the gaps, Bethesda should be investigated by FTC for pulling this fraud on consumer.
It's funny that New Vegas, a decade old game, developed in a rushed schedule - managed to avoid the immortal essential NPC crap for the vast majority of its important characters
You can kill anybody in New Vegas, you can even kill Yes Man. He does come back, but there’s actually logical reasons why he can keep coming back. He’s a computer program and can load himself into any securitron.
Yup - two things. First, you need passion. Big studios just don't have it. When your team is super passionate, they will work hard on making their vision work. Baldur's Gate 3 is proof of that. Elden Ring is proof of that. At the end of the day, you need people behind the game that really care about it. Second, great writers are hard to get and are super underappreciated, something that is becoming more and more obvious looking at the AAA gaming industry.
You could feel the love the developers had for Skyrim. It’s why I still play it, to this day. BGS has really lost its way, hopefully they get back on track for TESVI and FO5.
@@robotron1236 Nope, they won't. Skyrim was already a massive downgrade in terms of RPG mechanics compared to previous iterations. Ever since then, their games have gotten more and more simplified. Fallout 4/76 and now Starfield are all first person looter shooters with perk systems that are replacing any and all meaningful RPG mechanics from the past, and that's all Bethesda can churn out now.
Skyrim had better NPC interaction and immersiveness. Guards would warn you about shouting or having a weapon drawn, NPCs would pick up and even fight over an object you dropped. In Starfield they do nothing. You can fire a gun all around them and they stare blankly at you. Did Bethesda forget how to program in the last 12 years? Freelancer, a 20 year old game, did interstellar and planet-planet travel (jump gates and trade lanes) way better than fast travel ping ponging all over the galaxy. And don't get me started on how lazy and simplistic obtaining powers is in Starfield vs shouts in Skyrim. Yet fanboys still defend this utter disrespect and disdain that Bethesda has for them.
Starfield feels like it was explicitly designed around the mantra "modders will do it later". See those vast wastelands that encompass 95% of the game? Modders will fill all that space out later. Bare-bones, copy-pasted quests? Modders will flesh them out later. Meaningless factions? Modders. Basic QoL options? Modders. This entire game is Bethesda throwing their hands up in the air and admitting that anyone with a lick of talent or vision at the company left years ago and that the people on payroll now are less competent than Moe Modder who does their job better than them in his spare time.
@@gdl9362Cyberpunk fanboys were dumb enough to fall for modding just because they can “date” fictional characters. Modding ruins games more than it helps them.

Starfield is like a microcosm of what all modern big games are like. Every big game feels bland, inoffensive, tasteless, soulless. Nowadays I simply play older games, smaller niche games and some indies. My brain naturally filters out all the AAA gaming media and 'reviewers' by now because I just know nothing out there is worth it and the vast majority of it is shills getting paid to deceive you (sometimes they aren't even getting paid, they are too psychologically attached to their favorite companies which might be worse). It's depressing.
I am the same way. I think the last major AAA game I bought was Red Dead 2, and before that was GTA 5. Everything else is smaller stuff. Why tf would I play games like Starfield when I have Warhammer40k Darktide?
It's definitely the latter. It's obvious that the intelligence of consumers and just the public in general has taken a sharp dive over the past few years. The customer dictates the market in any field and naturally this is going to carry over into the gaming scene. You can see the results. The bar is now extremely low, and there is little to no quality control because people have no standards. The inability to accept that something you like is now trash, even when presented with some of the most crystal clear, in your face evidence possible is 100% an intelligence issue. I can pick apart just about anything I enjoy. That's called being rational. Most people are mentally conditioned npcs now and because of this it will only get worse.

@@Immopimmo It is pretty easy to write something when you know everything that the character can do and say. It is a single player game where you play as a Witcher called Geralt of Rivia; it isn't an RPG. As a writer, you don't have to take any other consideration into play other than that. Nothing the player does affects the world; you're basically writing a novel or a film the player is witnessing, rather than participating in. An open, empty world. Huts, all empty; caves all empty with maybe a bit of water in them. Ruined castles, all empty. The problem with a big open world, even an empty one, is that it uses resources. When you want to take the player to a whole new area, with new assets, enemies and have it full of loot; you need loading screens. Otherwise, you're left with the empty world of The Witcher 3 and Read Dead Redemption 2, where everything is just background and empty save for an occasional container or drawer.
For me Bethesda is Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Even tho this games became more and more casual they still had a lot of great quests and slapping a ton of RP / Hardcore mods on top of them still gives them very good RPG flavor to this day. Does Bethesda just not know how to write villains? Truly, of all the disappointments Synth mentions, this is the biggest one for me. These villains are... awful. Like, pathetically bad. Pirates that don't loot and plunder? Gangsters that don't break the law? "I was alive the whole time and orchestrating everything from prison" with no effort to explain how any of that was possible? Space slug diabolus ex machina? Can Bethesda just not write a compelling villain? One with gravitas? One who exploits human weakness for personal gain? One with a motivation more complex than "the good guys say he's bad, so he's bad?" This is writing I would expect from amateurs. Not a big video game publisher with hundreds of millions of dollars of budget.
Liberals think they are the heroes, but we all know their actual villains they put their logic as to what a hero should be into the game. Which is why the "heroes" are so villainanis.

57:25 is where he shows a couple good examples that player choice doesn't matter. They literally imply that you can kill them with dialogue, but the game won't let you. Bethesda doesn't care about giving the player choice, but rather making sure you see their set pieces. Essential NPCs are obviously pandering to idiots, but having NPCs be essential just so the game can have you kill them later is egregiously asinine.
@@Mirthful_MidoriEssential NPCs are "good" in the sense that the mechanic protects your savefile from fucking up due to other random factors (like NPCs getting stuck taking damage and eventually dying, etc). the "essential characters" thing is really abused in Starfield. Its like when the DM basically says that an NPC is going to flip on you, and when you and the party retaliate and try to kill him, the DM says: "no, no guys please, he's gonna important, you can't kill him." Imagine in the real world, if you do a world tour and visit all country, you find the same people, same culture, same food everywhere. How boring that would be? Look no further and see it for yourself in Starfield then. Diversity at this point where everything merge is not always good.
I'd argue it is never good. When you go to another country it should be for the people living there, for the food, for the culture. If its all the same, why go there? I see no reason to visit places far abroad that are completely similar to the place I am living at. For that I can stay in my own country. And I don't understand how American companies can't understand that themselves. They always say "oh LA is so different to NY its like another world" But it never reflects in their products they ship internationally.
This game would be better if they made humans of various planets more exotic. I would given humans various features related to genetic modification and prosthetics to make up for the fact that there aren't any aliens.
You make it sound like I wouldn't prefer to never see anything but my own people and culture or something. "Boring" more like a coherent safe society with nearly all of its problems absent.

Man after Act Man gave MW2 2022 a AWESOME review score I’ve been skeptical of him ever since that game was mid at best when it launched since then it’s been nothing but downhill and now it’s completely lost it’s identity becoming Fortnite now
Why? If people are having a good time (obviously alot of people), isnt that what games are for? The performance is clearly inconsistent across certain rigs, but cloud gaming is excellent. Either enjoy the game or refund it, like any other media.
It's a bit like going to a really expensive restaurant and having a world-famous chef give you burned food. You can cut off the burned parts and say "Hey, I still enjoyed my meal" and there's nothing wrong with that but if you then say "10/10 meal - absolutely perfect", it tells the chef that what they are doing is acceptable and leads to more of the same. There are lots of people out there who love Bethesda RPGs but think Starfield sucks. WIth ES6 coming next, that means some will want their voices to be heard so we don't get more of the same next time. I think that's partly why there's so much argument over this game - the more people claiming Starfield is brilliant, the more likely it is that ES6 will be very similar and for some, that would be a disaster.

Considering you can NG+ they really should be more flexible in letting you kill named NPCs. In Morrowind they would let you kill essential NPCs but give you a warning that it was one so you might want to revert.
I got into gaming because of that in Morrowind, imagine if People's introduction to games is seeing how restrictive gaming was through Starfield And the awful facial animations
@@Christmas_Johan Tbf, many games are restrictive in terms of you letting you destroy NPCs. "Even when it gives you an attack dialogue." That is either a bug or the people working at Bethesda have lost it. One would think not being situated in California would help but they all are connected to their smartphone.
@Varangian_af_Scaniae i hope its a bug. My theory is that in early development you could kill, then some suspect people came in and changed it. Kinda like my theory that the aurora place used to be a strip club, then for esg, they changed it to dudes in funky outfits
I disagree, the single worst thing is there being no “bigness”. Mass effect Andromeda had the same problem, just sort of playgrounds that you knew the limit of. The other mass effects were pretty much corridor shooters but the world felt bigger. There was no ships in the mass effects or exploration but they had this huge implication of scale. Set pieces, story moments, huge battles. Its a space epic it needs the wow factor. Starfield is like a non alcoholic beer or a veggie burger. Just no good.
@lesserspottedmugwump.363 this game has other problems too but there was nothing more frustrating to me than. Someone has a key, ill sneak asttack and loot. Nope, i wanna be a pirate, betray the vanguard. Nope, do a quest creatively nope. Everyone is essential. Theres almost no point to open world if your still forcing me onto rails
the ugly npcs thing is a result of them digitally capturing a bunch of different real people's faces and then randomly mixing all that facial data up, probably with some shitty AI - that's why you get a black person with an asian-looking face and blonde hair. I saw this talked about in an interview or article or something. and realistically this is the only possible explanation as to why the random npc's are so f-ing ugly, there is not a snowball's chance in hell any of the random npc's were hand-modeled, just the main npc's were.
Starfield seriously makes me think that modern game writers should've gone on strike as well. It's not like their absence would've detracted from the game.

theyre not worse than andromeda, and andromeda was compared to ME trilogy which was a cinematic masterpiece that no game will top for 50 years, the downgrade in terms of acting, world building and everything was heartbreaking not just disappointing, starfield isnt as much as a disappontment as that game was, still very disappointing but its not the level of andromeda

You are not allowed to write a good villain because they would necessarily become a compelling indictment of your deranged agenda, which is way too fragile to endure that.

Yeah.... that's a writing problem. He has no reason to know what you saw, because you refused to tell him. If you aren't going to support a choice, don't lie to the player and give it to them!

How do you see dislikes???

To the people who defend this game I feel sorry for you. You deserve more than whatever starfield is.
Yea they unironically deserve phantom liberty 😂
Maybe it is what they deserve...
People still hang onto those shitty ips like Sonic or Bethesda trying to salvage things and hoping for a brighter future, it’s depressing

The only good that has come from starfield is it helped me realise which reviewers are shills and through recent controversy how stupid the defenders of this game/normies are. It’s all just been one massive black pill
ACG was the only one I was subscribed to that lied about this game, so disappointing.
@@GonbooLuke Stephens was honest about the game. He didn't enjoy it either. He only enjoyed the ship building. He said the main story was meh. He always says, hype makes you stupid. He is also a proud skeptic. I only watch his and Synth's reviews now.
Well Mack from Worth A Buy was honest about it thankfully
But you have to play at least 100 hours 😂😂😂

bethesda doesnt have a core design document, meaning that when you got hundreds of people working on a game there is no document to consult on wherever its ok to do something in the game's universe or not, bethesda's side missions are made up on the spot.
@@arkgaharandan5881Bethesda can't make a good and Interesting RPG with a great story, good mechanics and story even if their life dependents on it. They have been hyped much more than they ever deserve.

Now these delusional fanboys slowly wake up or are just bored with these boring games.
And there's still enough people which will defend Bethesda.

@Dogman262 it's funny you should mention the "synthetic food", since there's absolutely no further information or context on it in the game or on the wiki or anywhere. Without the truly creative brand names like "Synthameat" you would never even know the difference. Just a name.

Considering you can NG+ they really should be more flexible in letting you kill named NPCs. In Morrowind they would let you kill essential NPCs but give you a warning that it was one so you might want to revert.
You make a good point but the main quest isn't actually always the same with ng+

I got into gaming because of that in Morrowind, imagine if People's introduction to games is seeing how restrictive gaming was through Starfield
And the awful facial animations
@@Christmas_Johan
Tbf, many games are restrictive in terms of you letting you destroy NPCs.
But it's bad in Starfield because it's supposed to be Roleplaying Game, the whole point of those games is player choise so it's insulting when this game has Essential NPCs and not say, Zelda games or whatever.
Remember, this is Todd Howard's dream game.
This is the game Todd had (allegedly) wanted to make since before Oblivion.
Let that sink in.
Apparently empty plants were only possible on the series X. 😂😂
The single worst thing is the absurd amount of essentials. Even when it gives you an attack dialogue. Even when they have nothing to do with quests.
"Even when it gives you an attack dialogue."
That is either a bug or the people working at Bethesda have lost it.
Some devs cannot STAND the idea that some people might skip or ignore the parts of the game they wrote/designed.
I saw this talked about in an interview or article or something. and realistically this is the only possible explanation as to why the random npc's are so f-ing ugly, there is not a snowball's chance in hell any of the random npc's were hand-modeled, just the main npc's were.
and also any skin color mix with white would eliminate white, it is either the result of that ai mixing or they truly are anti-white maniac devs.
id say that shit is on purpouse, mixing races and genders agenda...
ps. pozz za guzicu 😂
I think they accidentally used some pictures of gorillas or something.
Starfield seriously makes me think that modern game writers should've gone on strike as well. It's not like their absence would've detracted from the game.
This aged well given apparently there's an actual strike happening in gaming
ChatGPT does exist and perhap a way better job than bethesda at writing a compelling story,
ChatGPT is not capable of writing an actual story with depth, detail, and nuance. It also doesn't have the ability to be creative so it can't come up with its own ideas and will instead just plagiarize from other stories.
@@PhenoDubssounds like writing nowadays. Every mainstream movie or TV show is a remake , spinoff or knockoff of the next...so just go ahead and put the boys in charge 🤷🏾
game writers are complaining since early 2000s that most publishers think text is cheap.
I don't understand why big companies just can't provide good games anymore.
I mean... I DO... DEI, terrible talent, bad writers, bad ideas all around. I just don't understand why they continue spending and wasting money with no return.
Because its not about money but about tainting the culture forever.
@Canaris3 also that.
BRO THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT HOW PG THIS GAME IS. You’re a hero lol. It was driving me insane. Even neon felt like it was made for 8 year olds.
Honestly the game could be rated T if it weren't for the few mentions of the drug aurora. Felt like Disneys first RPG. Such a stark contrast to other RPGs, and even Bethesdas own games. I don't know what the fuck happened, but their writing just keeps getting worse over time.
Imagine if you are old, and got to play Fallout 1, 2, Morrowind at the time of release. Other than some indie games, the games released over last few years are pure garbage. What will probably save the AAA industry is AI, as it will both code, make those bland games much more varied, breathe some life into NPC's, but we still have to wait a few years for those. Also the first good one content wise, will likely also be microtransaction hell to ruin it 😂
when fallout 3 came out i said the dialogues were written by r3tarded monkeys, now it feels like every character in the game is written by some politically correct never swearing sexually confused 14 year old girl playing dolls with the npcs. Its like the game was made for toddlers.
