Hats off to you for this massive undertaking. I thought about making a video like this after my smaller/ more-casual "here's a few unmentioned changes" videos, but nope'd at the level of effort required. I'll be chipping away at this over the following week. ❤
I'm taking down my video RIGHT NOW so you'll be obliged to make it 😏 But yeah nah it was certainly a lot of work, wouldn't wish it on anyone unless they were fully invested
@@abogmus8904 I'll bet it was. I'll bet alot of the stuff from the dlc was in development before the release of the base game even. I've been of the mind that they were making this dlc alongside base game until release. At least that's been my view since this vid.
@@realsuperbunnyman2460 yeah, to me the biggest indicator of that is Placidussax's heads, it would be incredibly strange for such a significant design decision to be thrown in like "yeah let's just chop off 3 of his heads it looks cool", given how meticulous From is with lore.
Shouts out to the 1 guy with a guide to 1.0! After my 10 elden ring playthrough I was looking for something new heard about 1.0 and your guide helped a ton. Thanks man.
So overall, less weapons, less music, generally more awkward design, less rewards, an insane amount of empty chests, imo worse item names, less animations, etc etc Really makes you appreciate those finer details
Indeed, the thought of random chests, something thats supposed to anticipate major reward, being empty, would be so demoralizing 😭 But then again, mimics....
That smug chuckle of the finger snap would have been awesome to have in the official release, such a small detail but you love to see it. They probably thought it was too powerful, point downers would have been in shambles 😂
This is an incredible video. The subsequent updates after the game released finishing NPC questlines made it clear that Elden Ring was being finished to the wire. It’s great to be able to get a comprehensive look at what else they changed even after being “finished” so to say.
I beat this game completely pre patch I had zero Internet connection and there was so much stuff missing watching others playthroughs. Also that one enemy in stormveil scared the hell outta me
1:56:26 this actually kinda blew my mind because to this day the brazilian portuguese translation still calls those spells "Dark Bolide" and "Pleiades", also in the brazilian portuguese version, if you infuse the omen's cleaver, the name will change to "Zanbato" which i believe was the original name of that weapon.
One description I'd make note of are the Skeletal Militiamen Ashes. They're the only Spirit Ashes with detailed and VERY different flavor text to the release version. Another note for the Dragon Battle & Malenia's Theme is that these are common practices for placeholders to make it easy to find which ones have final stuff and update, and which ones have a temporary one that can be left in if needed. This is also why 1.00 has a lot more Arteria Leaf, Root Resin, & Budding Cave Moss placeholders, as those seem to have been the go-to item to be replaced with different items later, and is why the release version still has some of those locations with Arteria Leaves becoming a bit of a meme. 28:36 - Ghostflame doesn't have ANY Frostbite effect, which also indicates a likely reason why their weapons don't have that effect consistently applied as a status on hit _even in the release version game_ (In release: Death's Poker deals Frostbite damage on every hit, whereas Helphen's Steeple only does while the weapon art is active, and the Death Ritual Spear can't apply it at all). As you'll see later at 2:37:13, it's still called the "Flame of Death" and 2:47:24 "Explosive Ghostflame" is instead "Flames of Death" - which is identical to the Black Flame stripped of the power of Destined Death. This is why at 3:18:51 Malekith's Black Blade's Ash is called "Destined Death Unbound" as that differentiated the Black & White flames where that power had been stripped from it from the Black & Red flames his and the Black Knife Assassin's have access to. (There is a cut line of Enia's that mentions the Erdtree originally being consumed in Black Flames, so these are details and changes that happened later on, and are likely a large part of lore that was altered and shifted into *_Shadow of the Erdtree_* with Messemer wielding the Black & Red flames and other elements that involve the burned dead who aren't returned to the Erdtree, which is the basis of why you can summon certain Spirit Ashes according to what Ranni tells you when giving you the Bell). 57:04 - Of note, the Dragonbarrow Isolated Merchant sells Radahn's Spears regardless of whether or not he's been defeated, which is a neat advantage in 1.00 if you're using a Greatbow. 59:44 - This is the first time that it's revealed that the Beastmen have golden lightning attacks rather than crimson lightning like in release. 1:00:00 - The Azula Beastmen summon icon shows 3 beastmen in this version despite still only summoning two. In Liurnia, the massive Miranda Flowers' magic attack visuals have totally different seeking crystals compared to release, and thus effect also doesn't appear in any spells in the game, so it is totally unique to 1.00. 1:09:25 - There are actually a LOT of "first pass" translations in 1.00 flavor text descriptions where there are minor adjustments in terminology here and there without any significant change. It makes it a bit more muddy to easily notice which ones are meaningfully different. (1:12:07 Magma Wyrm Makal/Makar is an example where the first pass translation will be to get it in place as マカル could be either one, so this will be there before the design and/or localization team approve final verbiage). 1:11:01 - It's worth preemptively noting that everything about Frenzy in this version is still in various stages of development changes. As you noted earlier, the game uses the Red Eyes for Frenzy in his, and Vyke has both aspects which are the Red Lightning AND Frenzied Flame. This in-transition design is why at 1:59:24 you'll also see the Frenzied Troll crying crimson lightning rather than Frenzied Flame. (This is also likely why the Beastmen still exclusively used Gold Lightning rather than the Crimson Lightning of the Ancient Dragons, but more on that later). 1:13:00 - This is also a bigger difference related to the description of the armor set. Loretta's is "Royal Guard Armor" described as _"Silver armor of the Arbor Sentinels who serve the sacred tree of Miquella, the Scion Empyrean."_ (Helm "Features a huge circular wooden crest"). _"Hailing from Raya Lucaria, these enchanted knights once belonged to the Carian royal family, but were later gifted to Miquella, recipient of the Vision, by King Consort Radagon. The lapis blue trimmings reveal these origins. (Hence why at 2:58:48 while she doesn't drop her weapon the Ash "Loretta's Slash" is called "Miquella's Wrath" as they're just a type of Carian knight in Miquella's service at the Haligtree). 1:18:16 - I'm quite curious if this was initially the intended item, since she is holding an Amber Egg and the Amber Shard is more thematically in line with that, especially given the above point about all the subtle changes to Miquella & Caria's alliance, which there are more of later on like with 2:57:11 the Oracle Envoys being Glintstone blue colored like the other bubble magic of the Claymen (where even in release the descriptions state that they are searching for the Oracles). 1:20:24 - Another point that the "cold Ghostflame" doesn't exist in 1.00 as it does in release, and the expanded Fallen Hawk-related details are absent (given that they're largely a single cohesive BERSERK-themed element, it's not surprising they're collectively missing). However, it's worth noting that Fallen Hawks ARE in the Siofra Aqueduct despite not being anywhere else. 1:29:10 - I recall that large Silver Tear ball on the ceiling that you HAVE to fight here also has a lot more regular Silver Tears on the ceiling with it in 1.00 compared to release. It's also 1:30:06 - The description of the Dragonscale Blade also has an interesting difference in 1.00, _“A weapon forged from the remembrances of dragonkin soldiers, burnished with the essence of draconic immortality. Alas, the dragonkin never attained immortality, and perish as mere imitations of the ancient dragons.”_ as being forged from a Remembrance rather than "sharpening a Gravel Stone scale" makes it seem like one of the Dragonkin Soldiers was initially meant to be a proper boss with a remembrance, given that the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella has a totally unique Phase 2, I'd expect it was that one. Not sure why that was changed. 1:38:25 - Iji's confession (on top of being a quick translation with gender placeholder) is an item that I believe is specific to only appearing in the release version if you don't free Blaidd from the Evergaol, or if you find him in there without ever talking to Iji about it so that it clears up that information contextually. 1:39:44 - In 1.0, every time Lansseax appears, she's slightly older, which matches to the appearance & disappearance effect being the same way Placidusax warps through time. This theme crossup is actually important since later on (2:29:40), the description of the Remembrance of the Lichdragon lists the dragon's name as "Ransax" which would be a first pass translation of "Lansseax" rather than the name in release which is "Fortissax" her brother. This design difference in this version also explains why Fortissax uses the identical model as Lansseax, despite male & female Ancient Dragons having different head designs (Placidusax has one of both), but also why it uses an even more elaborate spinning version of the Lansseax's Glaive attack. Given the EXTENSIVE changes to "Farum Azula" having previously been the "Storm Aerie" (and all the drastically altered lore in the Banished, Exile, Drake, & Malformed armor sets detailing this), this is likely a lingering element of that significantly different version of the lore linking the winds around Stormvale to the land of the Storm Aerie as the land of the dragons that men were unable to reach in a much earlier design of the game that's still partially present with the radically different enemies in Leyndell. Finally, at 3:08:00 the crimson lightning is called "Wrath of Ancient Drakes" to show that theme being linked to rage which is likely also why we have the Red Eyes & Red Lightning being linked to the themes that eventually became separated into the Frenzied Flame. Lansseax was in love with Vyke (hence 2:39:00 his title as Consort rather than Lord Contender, being called The Dragonspear, and using inconsistent gold/crimson lightning). This also explains Placidisax's crimson reposte indicator at 3:16:43 not being gold, being unlike all the other enemies in the game. All those design concepts got HEAVILY differentiated in the release lore that is FAR less centrally focused around the dragons than pieces of the lore still in this version. 2:08:16 - The Skeletal Snails here break apart and don't disappear, so it seems like they were rigged to be one of the Those Who Live In Death skeletal enemies that can reform - but it's not implemented in 1.00 and in release they just vanish when killed. You'll see this with the snails in general like at 2:20:00 with the Spirit-Calling Snail. 2:38:23 - Esgar is the name of the Boss in release who is wearing the hood, so this looks like another 1.00 NPC not being significantly expanded upon for the release version of the story. 2:45:04 - The Ash of War for Wing of Astel & Bastard's Stars also have this different visual effect. I actually like this version of the fight a lot more than the release version, and also them both opening with the Meteor of Astel makes him far more intimidating like he's supposed to be as the one who destroyed the Nameless Eternal City. 2:50:45 - The Sacred Relic Sword arc on the ground also points the opposite direction. All-in-all, solid work and hopefully my observations are interesting! (I'm gonna have to go get Bernahl's Set in my 1.00 playthrough now that I know it's obtainable).
@@BertoPlease Glad ta help! Looks like TH-cam ate my last reply, but if it'd help for me to make a list of 1.00 armor, weapon, & items I've found with meaningful (non-minor translation) differences in their descriptions, I can probably try to put one together. (Haven't played 1.00 since I beat it in April last year, but this has me wanting to dig back into it a bit).
A friend of mine installed prirated Elden Ring in his PS4, which he never even played. I just saw it one day and decided to try it out due to the hype around 2 years ago. But most enemies didn't drop their armor or item whatsoever. It was very hard based on the fact that I was using TH-cam to navigate from certain places or look for good weapons. Like the night Cavalry halberd. It was so frustrating, I had to work with bloodhound fang. Best game I have every played, when I get my own PS, I am going to purchase mine with DLC ☺
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DOCUMENT THIS!! Thank you so much! I can't wait to watch this in my free time over the next couple of days. THANK YOU!
It took a few sessions, but I finished the whole thing finally! What an incredible video. Thank you for all your work on putting together this huge project!
You'd think they'd have the majority of this stuff down WAY earlier in development. Item descriptions and even item names being changed last minute, enemy placement and so on. When you look at this version it makes you wonder just how consistent the environmental storytelling and item descriptions actually are when there's so many changes done last second.
I imagine a lot of the post 1.00 changes were planned out before they were made, and a lot of the 1.00 item names and item descriptions were just placeholders. Margit having Malenia's theme is a good example of this. I agree that the sheer volume of stuff they changed after release is pretty nuts.
@@carlschrappen9712 Yea this might be the case since they delayed the game and we don't know the process. Maybe they wrap all this stuff up at the very end in all the games and they have it planned. It still seems a bit odd though, because there's so much of it. Makes you wonder if they made any mistakes. Is the blackflame on Iji an oversight? Does this enemy being here have lore significance or did they just place it there and forget it? Stuff like that. Makes you question the seemingly unimpeachable world building in their design.
@@TheSilvantor I agree. I always thought the blackflame on Iji seemed reminiscent of some earlier version of the games' mythos, because there should be red and black tendrils coming of Iji if he was killed by Black Knife Assassins. I still think FromSoftware's worldbuilding is pretty good, you just have to keep stuff like that in mind when seeing seeming exceptions to patterns the game establishes. For example, I don't read to much into their being small human motifs in certain parts of Faram Azula, that's probably just FromSoftware using a generic art asset they bought somewhere.
legendary video, thanks for putting all this together. i would really like a comprehensive look at dark souls 1.0 because it was so much harder and fucked up like how you could stack curses and whatever. looking forward to whatever you do next!
I haven't had this much fun watching a video in a while. Impeccable execution on this video! Incredible how you went so in depth on everything you found and it translated perfectly into this 3:40:13 hour long video!
omg I'm 2 months late but thank youu!! a while ago I had my PS5 disconnected from the internet and was constantly exploring this 1.0 version for months. I was so facinated at how different it was! I had wondered what actually triggered the two fingers room in the hold because some playthroughs it wouldn't open at all and was softlocked! and if only I knew you could kill yourself in an npc invasion that it would count as an invasion, I could have gotten the shortcut to mohg! I was always annoyed at that. Amazing work!
i appreciate all the hard work that you put into this. i'm making a mod that restores smithing stones and runes to their original names and your spreadsheet just saved me a ton of time. i don't even think i'll release it or anything like that, i just love the original names and want them in my game.
Oh wow didnt expect this to be another way it helps haha. I get a lot of comments of people preferring the original names so maybe theres some interest for a mod like this! Just in case you wanna consider releasing it
Some things I noticed •Great epe is still in the game only used by Lionel, unfortunately this is similarly the case with almost every missing weapon and armor set •on ps4 version of 1.00 death birds have ghost flame attacks •all projectile AOW on weapons with bleed buildup cause bleed damage which makes halo scythe and moonveil very OP •no rot spells do rot build or every boss has extreme resistance to it the only exceptions are the hammer of rot farmed items from the avatars in haligtree and malenias spell when used by Gideon on the player •the halo scythe rings of light AOW is called Miquella’s rings of light •I have had godskin apostles theme play on the divine tower one but it seems random or potentially tied to NG+ •towering mushroom crown can also be looted from the mushroom people in the swamp of aeonia •killing lattena is the only way to get the silver mail set in 1.00 •the thops barrier scarab in the lakes respawns when you reload the area •it’s random if albus is in a pot or a statue I’ve seen both with no real explanation and the finger reader crone who tells you about him only ever says he’s in a pot and doesn’t change dialogue even if he is in a statue •in the vyke fight in the mountaintops his AOW does madness if it hits you directly •guard Loretta has no strake of marika meaning you have to repeat the area if you die to her •in the ps4 version at least some of the merchants have their release stock if you turn in their bell bearings •rennela phase 2 has a very rare cut move where several moons fall around you, I’ve only ever seen it twice •nox flowing hammer can be farmed from nox monks •the shaman set is unobtainable in 1.00 but the normal fur set is •in 1.00 you have to have the first encounter with lanseax for her to appear closer at the second location •I’ve never had the noble spawn in the yura church in 1.00 even when the quest wasn’t active not sure what the differences are •patches will be at the shaded castle even if you’ve already killed him in 1.00 •I have gotten special dialogue from gowry after buying pest threads not sure what the difference is •you don’t have to complete Millicent’s quest line to get the undodgeable swift glintstone shard in 1.00 •it seems random which tree sentinel has a torch or shield •erdtree seal never goes past 100 incant scaling in 1.00 in fact I’ve never been able to get past 300 scaling on any seal in 1.00 so incantations are definitely less viable •the blasphemous blade does holy damage instead of fire the AOW also does holy damage even though it’s literally fire coming out of the ground •boc’s questline is in 1.00 but he still disappears after maliketh •the cloaked banished knights in the capital can do healing incantations suggesting they weren’t placeholders but intended enemies for one wack moment in development •I’ve never seen the red albanorics use the incantations before not sure what the difference is •the haligtree knight set is unobtainable •the crystalians in the haligtree don’t drop their weapons •you can trick millicents sisters into rolling off with spell spam and Millicent can also be tricked off by the sister with the halo scythe AOW spam •not surprising but malenia can use both of her waterfowl dances back to back •malenia can parry you if you use certain weapons making the fight even worse •scarlet aeonia only costs 1 spell slot but can’t apply scarlet rot
Been following this since the start and I’m so proud and impressed to see it compiled like this. Happy to see other Fromsoft YTers commenting as well. Congrats on finishing this
One of my favorite memories ever so far is when I first started playing Elden at midnight. The second it came out, so I experienced an extreme amount of this stuff. And so did other people probably. That’s what make it so special because I don’t remember everything but I still slightly remember those things I don’t remember at the same time if that makes sense.
Some other stuff worth mentioning about Elden Ring 1.0 that I've found while on the PS4 version, warning, lots of text ahead; 1. Upgradeing an infuseable weapon set to heavy, keen, or quality, makes the weapon worse dispite all other infusions, somber weapons, staffs, sheilds, and seals not doing this. And this is oddly consistant. 2. The Carian Glintstone staff has been moved from Carian Study Hall. It is in the game, I have it with a build, I just cannot remember where or how I got it. My main two guess' are it's either farmed, or it's a set loot in a diffrent location. 3. Staffs and seals aren't as good. Most have very poor scaleing. Even at 50 int I haven't seen a staff break 300 scaleing. Makes casting builds much harder. One of the highest scaleing staffs I've seen so far is the Demi Human Queens Staff. Can't say much for seals as I haven't tested them as much. 4. Rivers Of Blood doesn't have it's uniqe ash of war, instead it uses bloody slash. 5. Weapons with native arcane scaleing don't seem to exist in 1.0 from what I've seen. Elenora's Poleblade, Morgott's Cursed Sword, Reduva, Marias Executioner Blade and likely others I'm missing. 6. Some weapons are also missing scaleing (like arcane), or have diffrent stats requierments, like the staffs I've found haveing the same 8 Int requierment. At +24 the Staff Of The Guilty remained at 100 scaleing even with 26 int. 7. Some cheeses, wrong warps and skips work in this version. Probably not shocking, but still worth mentioning. Edit section Edit 1. Raptors Black Feathers does NOT up jump attack damage. I tested and was only getting 1,119 regaurdless of if I had it equiped or not Edit 2. The Albinauric staff has Arcane scaleing, but no arcane requierments. Edit 3. After more testing I've found that the Demi Human Queens Staff is basicly the best staff in 1.0 so far. I've yet to see a staff pass it interms of scaleing. Edit 4. Every peice of the Eccentric Set is called Eccentrics hood. Edit 5. The Soldier's Crossbow AND the Heavy Crossbow both have scaleing, I'm unsure if the light crossbow does though. At +24 and with the stats I had, the Soldiers Crossbow and the Heavy Crossbow both did the same damage, so it'd really be down to which you prefer visually. Edit 6. Light, Heavey and Soldier Crossbows have scaleing and the Exile hood has the same stats as the Nights Cavalry Helmet Update, October 28th, 2024: I was messing around on Elden Ring today when I noticed, at 52INT, a +7 Carian Regal Sceptor has highter scaleing than a +18 Demi Human Queen staff. In 1.0 the Demi Human Queen Staff at +18 has 249 sourcery scaleing at 52INT. Carian Regal Sceptor at +7 has 254 at 52INT. No idea when the Carian Regal Sceptor out did the Demi Human Queen Staff, maybe at roughly 50INT, not too sure. So the Demi Human Queen staff isn't THE best in 1.0, but it is for most of the game. Upcate, October 29th, 2024: at 60 jnt, the Carian Regal Sceptor has 310 scaleing
A handful of things you didn't mention that I've seen playing the Xbox One version: -In the village of the Albinaurics the depraved perfumer is playing a unique song on a flute. -The Dragon Halberd and Katana both have a faith requirement and innate lightning damage. The Katana also has innate frost buildup. -The Hand Ballista has scaling, and it is actually incredibly strong. However, this is offset somewhat by greatbolts having a stack size of 5 per type and lightning bolts having no AoE. Also, the description says it belongs to Tragoth. -Pieces of armor that are supposed to grant stat boosts such as glintstone crowns and imp heads do not give a stat bonus. -Many unique helmets use a sort of "default" heavy helmet stat set. -Defense stats on the status tab are very vague, only showing one digit. -IMPORTANT: at some point in the story, either after defeating 2 demigods or by using the portal at Fia's Champions, the lever at the place the Tower of Return brings you will become usable. I found out by defeating the Champions and taking the portal, and made a new character to make sure the lever wasn't usable from the start of the game.
Incredible work. I've done a few 1.0 runs since that guardian swordspear comment and this will help a lot in upcoming runs. I can't wait to get my mind blown by your discoveries.
i remember when i first got the game i didn’t have wifi and my hotspot was out so i couldn’t download the day one patch. needless to say when i saw that the sword of night and flame only had a 12/12 int faith requirement i was shocked and thats when it hit me that this version was definitely primitive. i even noticed the health/mana/stamina bare looked slightly off. meteorite staff wasn’t where it was supposed to be, neither was azurs staff(i think anyway). just gives me nostalgia thinking about it after two years.
This was really helpful to me since i am new to the game and my friend advised not to update my game yet since he said some boss fights were made easier. I was looking for that damned SPECTRAL LANCE scarab for days since my friend said it was just near the cemetery. Thank you for the video
Did you mention how much damage enemies that fight each do? The soldiers and dogs who fight in Caelid near the greatbridge massacre each other so quickly and you can just watch and collect a tonne of runes. You might have mentioned it, I fell asleep, not because the video is boring it's super interesting, just general adulthood.
22:22 Very happy to see this. On release day I was going for a strength/magic build and found the Battle Hammer early and decided to stick with it until a dozen hours later, after defeating Rennala, where I eventually found a replacement. Glad and sorta sad about this, makes my first playthrough unique and special since you can't easily replicate it but I'll *probably never again be able to get the Battle Hammer early game.
This is super interesting! I always liked poking around at the differences between Dark Souls 1.0 and current, and between the Chinese and English Re-translation of Demon's Souls. Had no idea so much of Elden Ring had changed in a similar vein. I think what would have been better is consistently referring to 1.0 with past tense, though. It's often confusing to hear "is" when it should really be "was".
i fell asleep with my phone on and woke up to this video. i've never played elden ring (though i like dark souls), and i just want to say i really appreciate that you stuck to something you were passionate about and was able to make a 3 hour high quality video about it
while watching this video i crossed into another dimension where the gravel stone seal is dropped from a knight in lyndel and isnt a pick up at the beginning of faram Azula. ive been doing a miracle playthrough for the last few days and been staring at that seal's wiki page trying to do all i can before burning the tree waiting to go get it and it just changed in front of my eyes
wait, so igon's amor was in the game all along???? i knew about the twinblade but man thats kinda cool!!! souls game often have some unused content that never goes anywhere, glad they put it some use in the dlc
I'd like to see those letter descriptions restored somehow. It's much more interesting to me than the quick notes that we ended up getting, even if those are probably more useful.
I actually had to play this version for half a month because of wi-fi problems. It was crazy how my friends were telling me things that didn’t even exist in my game and viceversa: especially 30:30
@@thepeople5173How did you dodge malenia waterfowl 1.0? Please help me. Im playing 1.00 as well. Shes unbeatable. Im just trash. I just want to beat her melee.

@@thepeople5173 thanks bro. I beat her today. I could only dodge her dance using the bloodhound step. Which made me regret beating her for missing the chance to practise dodging it using normal dodge roll. I'll do it the next Ng+
The editing on this video is really good. Also your voice over work is super clear and flows really well through the video. It's amazing how much they did in around 2 months. It also makes the fact that the DLC work only started after release make sense... They were still incredibly busy on the base game right up until launch
I'm glad you think it flows, I scripted the intros and made sure it was clean and coherent but a good portion of the video is bullet points instead of fully scripted, so was a bit concerned it wasnt AS coherent
37:40 fun fact the Elmer here in this spot is in one of the gameplay trailers, I’m assuming he was moved there to showcase for the trailer without spoiling other locations in the game, would be my best bet.
Not on release but I think shortly after is when Engvell's Ashes dropped instead of the Battle Hammer. Reason I know this is because I made a new character wanting to grab that weapon and start using it a few days after it dropped there, and then never dropped there again!
I played a bit of 1.0 for a while and a notable thing I found was with the two tree sentinels in Leyndell. This is all from memory so some steps aren't 1 to 1. Sneak behind them and cast poison mist (they go down the steps despite then stop). Run back to the grace behind them and deagro (don't rest at the grace) This causes a weird glitch where the poisoned tree sentinel will fade in an out. I assume the game is deloading him because you aren't in the same load zone, but the poison is forcing him to reload on his spawn location. You can use the flail's WA (you can hold it despite not having stamina) on its respawn point. It takes like 7 minutes to kill one with this method at WL+0.
I posit that the 1.00 version of the game wasn't the state the game was in only a month before release. Rather, the "1.00" version that was put on retail discs was just the latest fully stable version they had at the time, probably a couple months before ER had "gone gold" and retail discs started being printed. And in the months between then and release, they changed and added things, but were probably finished around a couple weeks or a month before release.
Yeah, I’ve seen some dev streams of paradox, and they always say they’re using “hot code” that is, code that is actively being modified and not a stable build.
I expected this to be a good mind numbing video to watch on the side. It was good as a side vid but nowhere near as mind numbing as I had expected. Fond memories of bloody slash carrying me on my first playthrough. It was so good. Also cool to see Malenia having a different form of waterfowl dance, I'm sure that would have been fun to deal with, especially with pots not working.
Haha yeah I can see how something like this would appear daunting at face value (working on it certainly was 😵💫), it was one of my worries, especially with Limgrave because its so long and i point out a lot of small details, but glad you found it digestible 😌
You did good work bro! I played elden ring up to v 1.06 then I completely fell off. Now I am diving back into the game and their is TOTALLY new things that caught me off guard. Its like playing an MMO after many years or better yet destiny 2. I played that game day one In September 2017, and now it TOTALLY different.
man this video is GOLD. the very reason I pay internet and youtube GLADLY. Thanks for this absolutely GODLIKE content. it's the very thing that makes these grim times worth living, save a few others.
@BertoPlease The way you slip little jokes into your script and include nods to all kinds of things like speedrun skips or rune farming shows that youve got a super deep grasp of the many different ways people play this game or what they could gain from this video and it really shows, means that as a viewing experience you learn a lot of practical stuff if you care to, and if not get some little bits of entertainment. "Typical Co Invader" in the millicent section especially tickled me, personally. 😁
I dunno if any other commenters said it or you said that already on documentary(lol) since its so long I might have missed it, Review copies were a thing for this game and they were more or less complete albeit changes to some things like to lusat staff has less int (36) requirement than release patch. Source: Peeve First Playthrough Episode 14 at 1:43:46 What I mean is that the dev time from 1.0 to release was even lower considering review copies are a vital part of the game and from watching that playthru I didnt catch other changes but then again I dont follow where items are unlike you 😂. Thanks for the video!
Yeah I have a friend who played a review copy, discussed it with them, seems that the version they got was the earliest 1.01 but it doesnt conflict with the research i did at the start i believe, so didnt really mention it. It did seem to have some very minor differences though yeah, seems like Reduvia didnt have its arcane scaling like it does at launch, or at the very least it was different stat reqs from what they told me
Update: BLOODBORNE 1.00 LIVE: th-cam.com/video/TijyIrr6KfA/w-d-xo.html
Update: RAGGED ARMOR IN DLC, BABY!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
CORRECTIONS and ADDITIONS:
- Baller Twitter Thread showing a lot of the 1.00 effects on PC, also has mod: twitter.com/RayanTheMad/status/1767172342998765895
- The Night Rider near Bellum Church still drops Giant Hunt, but not the Nightrider Glaive
- No Spiralhorn Shield found
Also small sad note, I think I damaged my disc a little from taking it out a lot, I can't install 1.00 straight anymore 😢 It still works if i downloaded with internet thankfully, but definitely need a replacement disc, just such a hard ask to buy another copy of the game lol, so that's the reason I haven't updated any chances for a bit, don't have access to it for now.

makes one wonder if they had planned the DLC in advance, considering the Lore was completed before the game was made

1:37:12 "Sword of Moonlight" is actually MORE of a callback. That's what it was originally called in King's Field.
Shouts out to the 1 guy with a guide to 1.0! After my 10 elden ring playthrough I was looking for something new heard about 1.0 and your guide helped a ton. Thanks man.
Haha theres a few others that did video but definitely not in this style.. and they're not as insane :)
Thanks for this incredible coverage bud
Hey Smough 🙏 my pleasure
Smough still foaming at the mouth over all the small text changes and their lore implications
So overall, less weapons, less music, generally more awkward design, less rewards, an insane amount of empty chests, imo worse item names, less animations, etc etc
Really makes you appreciate those finer details
Indeed, the thought of random chests, something thats supposed to anticipate major reward, being empty, would be so demoralizing 😭
But then again, mimics....
I mean this version wasn't anywhere close to being finished. The final version had probably existed for a good while.
I prefer the og smithing stone and rune names tho. I like when they over unique names instead of just smithing stone (1)
@@BertoPlease mimics always have a reward, even if they bite and kill you first
Really goes to show that some refinement goes a long way.
That smug chuckle of the finger snap would have been awesome to have in the official release, such a small detail but you love to see it. They probably thought it was too powerful, point downers would have been in shambles 😂
i honestly wish they left it in 😭

This is an incredible video. The subsequent updates after the game released finishing NPC questlines made it clear that Elden Ring was being finished to the wire. It’s great to be able to get a comprehensive look at what else they changed even after being “finished” so to say.
And then things like the pve / pvp changes after a few patches, yeah its wild that they did after the game was already out
A game this massive seems like it calls for endless tweaking
That last laugh of Hoarah Loux feels like he is relieved that someone stronger will take care of the fish (Elden Beast)
I beat this game completely pre patch I had zero Internet connection and there was so much stuff missing watching others playthroughs. Also that one enemy in stormveil scared the hell outta me
Me too 😂
I wasn't doing any damage and dude's sword could fly towards me
1:56:26 this actually kinda blew my mind because to this day the brazilian portuguese translation still calls those spells "Dark Bolide" and "Pleiades", also in the brazilian portuguese version, if you infuse the omen's cleaver, the name will change to "Zanbato" which i believe was the original name of that weapon.
It's also
1:30:06 - The description of the Dragonscale Blade also has an interesting difference in 1.00, _“A weapon forged from the remembrances of dragonkin soldiers, burnished with the essence of draconic immortality.
(I'm gonna have to go get Bernahl's Set in my 1.00 playthrough now that I know it's obtainable).
oh dear imma have to read this later when I'm updating things 😨 thanks for the insight!

Damn I kind of love the Godfrey laugh and I wish that stayed in. Maybe tonally they felt it made him not seem as regal but it’s such a good laugh.
It's more like 0.9 version because all those missing items hurt the exploration. It's not a finished product.
That's because it isn't. They have to print the discs MONTHS before the game is actually finished

Excellent point
We don't really know if these changes were done "last second" though.

Some things I noticed
•Great epe is still in the game only used by Lionel, unfortunately this is similarly the case with almost every missing weapon and armor set
•on ps4 version of 1.00 death birds have ghost flame attacks
•all projectile AOW on weapons with bleed buildup cause bleed damage which makes halo scythe and moonveil very OP
•no rot spells do rot build or every boss has extreme resistance to it the only exceptions are the hammer of rot farmed items from the avatars in haligtree and malenias spell when used by Gideon on the player
•the halo scythe rings of light AOW is called Miquella’s rings of light
•I have had godskin apostles theme play on the divine tower one but it seems random or potentially tied to NG+
•towering mushroom crown can also be looted from the mushroom people in the swamp of aeonia
•killing lattena is the only way to get the silver mail set in 1.00
•the thops barrier scarab in the lakes respawns when you reload the area
•it’s random if albus is in a pot or a statue I’ve seen both with no real explanation and the finger reader crone who tells you about him only ever says he’s in a pot and doesn’t change dialogue even if he is in a statue
•in the vyke fight in the mountaintops his AOW does madness if it hits you directly
•guard Loretta has no strake of marika meaning you have to repeat the area if you die to her
•in the ps4 version at least some of the merchants have their release stock if you turn in their bell bearings
•rennela phase 2 has a very rare cut move where several moons fall around you, I’ve only ever seen it twice
•nox flowing hammer can be farmed from nox monks
•the shaman set is unobtainable in 1.00 but the normal fur set is
•in 1.00 you have to have the first encounter with lanseax for her to appear closer at the second location
•I’ve never had the noble spawn in the yura church in 1.00 even when the quest wasn’t active not sure what the differences are
•patches will be at the shaded castle even if you’ve already killed him in 1.00
•I have gotten special dialogue from gowry after buying pest threads not sure what the difference is
•you don’t have to complete Millicent’s quest line to get the undodgeable swift glintstone shard in 1.00
•it seems random which tree sentinel has a torch or shield
•erdtree seal never goes past 100 incant scaling in 1.00 in fact I’ve never been able to get past 300 scaling on any seal in 1.00 so incantations are definitely less viable
•the blasphemous blade does holy damage instead of fire the AOW also does holy damage even though it’s literally fire coming out of the ground
•boc’s questline is in 1.00 but he still disappears after maliketh
•the cloaked banished knights in the capital can do healing incantations suggesting they weren’t placeholders but intended enemies for one wack moment in development
•I’ve never seen the red albanorics use the incantations before not sure what the difference is
•the haligtree knight set is unobtainable
•the crystalians in the haligtree don’t drop their weapons
•you can trick millicents sisters into rolling off with spell spam and Millicent can also be tricked off by the sister with the halo scythe AOW spam
•not surprising but malenia can use both of her waterfowl dances back to back
•malenia can parry you if you use certain weapons making the fight even worse
•scarlet aeonia only costs 1 spell slot but can’t apply scarlet rot
I'm glad some of these I already include in the video, I'll have a look sometime at the rest, thanks 🫡

Wow, thank you for taking your time to gather and organize all of this information. Very well done
Some other stuff worth mentioning about Elden Ring 1.0 that I've found while on the PS4 version, warning, lots of text ahead;
Edit section
Edit 1. Raptors Black Feathers does NOT up jump attack damage. I tested and was only getting 1,119 regaurdless of if I had it equiped or not
Edit 2.
Edit 6. Light, Heavey and Soldier Crossbows have scaleing and the Exile hood has the same stats as the Nights Cavalry Helmet
Update, October 28th, 2024: I was messing around on Elden Ring today when I noticed, at 52INT, a +7 Carian Regal Sceptor has highter scaleing than a +18 Demi Human Queen staff.
You're a beautiful maniac for this. This sort of public recordkeeping is awesome! BertoThankYou

A handful of things you didn't mention that I've seen playing the Xbox One version:
-In the village of the Albinaurics the depraved perfumer is playing a unique song on a flute.
It works on the ps4 version too but it didn't work after defeating 2 demigods
Haha wow extremely specific way to help, guess the level of detail paid off
I started recording footage from 1.0 to throw together in a video but then I couldn't be arsed. So thanks for doing my job for me
Ur welcome 😎
Did you mention how much damage enemies that fight each do? The soldiers and dogs who fight in Caelid near the greatbridge massacre each other so quickly and you can just watch and collect a tonne of runes. You might have mentioned it, I fell asleep, not because the video is boring it's super interesting, just general adulthood.
This is so impressive to me. I know this video had to have been a massive amount of work. Great work!
It sure was, thank you 😌
Once we got the Jarburg questline, it was officially "1.0". Everything before was early access.
Jesus ER was worse than I thought on release, thank you for your service going through this bs
Playing the 1.00 version and was so confused why the golden order seal was missing, thanks for confirming.
Yea I had no idea about it cause I dont think I explored that catacomb until way later, had to research once I stumbled on this detail for the video 🤯
It's often confusing to hear "is" when it should really be "was".
i fell asleep with my phone on and woke up to this video. i've never played elden ring (though i like dark souls), and i just want to say i really appreciate that you stuck to something you were passionate about and was able to make a 3 hour high quality video about it
Haha thats a wild circumstance, but thank you ☺️
@@nationvapor only souls game I've played is dark souls 2
Thank you so much man, was doing a 1.0 run with your video in the background and helped me with a lot of items and the godrick great rune lol
😂 yeah the Godrick Rune is sneaky huh
The amount of work you kept in this video is mind-blowing... Subbing immediately...
I'm amazed by the amount of work that was put into this. Phenomenal video
Just started the video, but wanted to say thank you for compiling all this info in one package!
34:50 It's a crime that the Ragged Armor set isn't in game anymore, I thinks its amazing.
I really hope they add it with the DLC
Some of the changes they made r so unnecessarily stupid. Y remove this stuff?
I’ve got good news :)
I think it's given by Igon in the dlc now
@@eaglelord145CURSE YOU BAYYYYLLLE
I played Elden Ring to death so I decided play this version and it felt like I was playing it for the first time again
while watching this video i crossed into another dimension where the gravel stone seal is dropped from a knight in lyndel and isnt a pick up at the beginning of faram Azula. ive been doing a miracle playthrough for the last few days and been staring at that seal's wiki page trying to do all i can before burning the tree waiting to go get it and it just changed in front of my eyes
Lmao oh dear
wait, so igon's amor was in the game all along???? i knew about the twinblade but man thats kinda cool!!! souls game often have some unused content that never goes anywhere, glad they put it some use in the dlc
Looking forward to getting into this properly tonight. Good job, Berto!
I really appreciate your work in putting this together. I really enjoyed the whole video, thank you!
❤️
1.0 was a completely different game wow
hope this video takes off soon! great work 🎉
Its on its way 🥳
Dude this is sooo amazing! Thanks sooo much for the time and commitment!
I'm only 20 minutes in but I just want to say that this is such an incredible effort. Great stuff!
🥰
Huge video on a really insteresting topic, looking foward to watching the whole thing.
The introduction before the actual content on Version1.0, was exceedingly watchable, I just had say 🙂
Haha yeah I figured anyone who would be interested in this version would appreciate the context, glad I did it justice, was pretty proud of it
this research proves the still very important role of having a physical disc with the game on it
I really enjoy the way you say "stock" for each merchant
😂 you're welcome
Extremely comfy video, 10/10 would be mesmerized by again thank you for your service Bertholomew
Omg its TK 🤩 Tyty
I'd like to see those letter descriptions restored somehow. It's much more interesting to me than the quick notes that we ended up getting, even if those are probably more useful.
24:41 this merchant supposed to move around if I remember. They even kept the message that he's open to trade in the release.
Lots of work has been put into this, great video!
I actually had to play this version for half a month because of wi-fi problems. It was crazy how my friends were telling me things that didn’t even exist in my game and viceversa: especially 30:30
I WAS WONDERING WHY EVERYTHING WAS DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I SAW IN TH-cam VIDEOS.
Same
I'm almost at the end of the game now

@@thepeople5173How did you dodge malenia waterfowl 1.0? Please help me. Im playing 1.00 as well. Shes unbeatable. Im just trash. I just want to beat her melee.

@@thepeople5173 thanks bro. I beat her today. I could only dodge her dance using the bloodhound step. Which made me regret beating her for missing the chance to practise dodging it using normal dodge roll. I'll do it the next Ng+
@@MrSyak1989 awesome
Enjoy bro
Obscenely massive project. Hats off.
Oh wow, I'll have to look into that trailer 👀
ive just checked it is from the original gameplay trailer at 2:16
Also amazing video btw it’s not often I can sit through something this long!
Appreciate this so much! Important Elden Ring content!!
Nice, 3:37:43 there I am. Anyway, big props to you for making such a huge video that compiles all of the 1.00 differences.
You made it to the Elden Ring Kickstarter credits 🥳
Not on release but I think shortly after is when Engvell's Ashes dropped instead of the Battle Hammer. Reason I know this is because I made a new character wanting to grab that weapon and start using it a few days after it dropped there, and then never dropped there again!
Thanks for all of the incredible work you've done! I've loved every one of these videos.
Incredible look into the end-stage development. Subbed.
🥰
Bravo, this video must have taken FOREVER!
Yuuup :)
I played a bit of 1.0 for a while and a notable thing I found was with the two tree sentinels in Leyndell.
This is all from memory so some steps aren't 1 to 1.
Sneak behind them and cast poison mist (they go down the steps despite then stop).
Run back to the grace behind them and deagro (don't rest at the grace)
This causes a weird glitch where the poisoned tree sentinel will fade in an out. I assume the game is deloading him because you aren't in the same load zone, but the poison is forcing him to reload on his spawn location.
You can use the flail's WA (you can hold it despite not having stamina) on its respawn point. It takes like 7 minutes to kill one with this method at WL+0.
Can’t imagine how long this must have taken. Thank you for this!
You’re very dedicated and that’s awesome
I posit that the 1.00 version of the game wasn't the state the game was in only a month before release. Rather, the "1.00" version that was put on retail discs was just the latest fully stable version they had at the time, probably a couple months before ER had "gone gold" and retail discs started being printed. And in the months between then and release, they changed and added things, but were probably finished around a couple weeks or a month before release.
Yeah, I’ve seen some dev streams of paradox, and they always say they’re using “hot code” that is, code that is actively being modified and not a stable build.
Great job, you're a legend for posting this.
Yeah I just found it on the side of the road, figured someone should upload it 🙆
When I first saw your prior to this compilation video I was stuck on steroids buffed Godfrey god that was rough lol
Lmao
❤️
Genuinely awesome video, your commentary and voice are both relaxing and entertaining. Thanks for all the work that you put into this.
One of the highest compliments I could receive 🥹 ty ❤️
@BertoPlease The way you slip little jokes into your script and include nods to all kinds of things like speedrun skips or rune farming shows that youve got a super deep grasp of the many different ways people play this game or what they could gain from this video and it really shows, means that as a viewing experience you learn a lot of practical stuff if you care to, and if not get some little bits of entertainment. "Typical Co Invader" in the millicent section especially tickled me, personally. 😁
55:41 ypu are supposed to summon Patches so that Radahn bombs him before he can severed finger out 😂😂😂
This is insane! Excellent work!
I am here because i saw the video and thought “how is this 3 hours long??”
I dunno if any other commenters said it or you said that already on documentary(lol) since its so long I might have missed it,
Review copies were a thing for this game and they were more or less complete albeit changes to some things like to lusat staff has less int (36) requirement than release patch.
Source: Peeve First Playthrough Episode 14 at 1:43:46
What I mean is that the dev time from 1.0 to release was even lower considering review copies are a vital part of the game and from watching that playthru I didnt catch other changes but then again I dont follow where items are unlike you 😂.
Thanks for the video!
Yeah I have a friend who played a review copy, discussed it with them, seems that the version they got was the earliest 1.01 but it doesnt conflict with the research i did at the start i believe, so didnt really mention it. It did seem to have some very minor differences though yeah, seems like Reduvia didnt have its arcane scaling like it does at launch, or at the very least it was different stat reqs from what they told me
You created the very thing i sought after. Thank you!
so elden ring 1.0.0 is just the definition of opening the fridge and either having nothing or.. arteria leaf
or dragon (music)
This is pinned comment worthy
@@BertoPlease if only you could pin two comments. thanks for the heart. and amazing work you did for this video. :)
