Better range than a mazda mx-30. We demand a 1000 km challenge!
😂😂😂😂😂 🎉
At 45 kph? Have mercy on Bjorn!
Only 23 hours… easy 😂
Sunday driving and 1000 km challang in 1 ;-)
We need the 0 to 100km/h test also 😂
This Ligier Myli is build in France, by the company that raced in formula 1 in the 70´s and 80´s, and won several Grand Prix with Jacques Laffite and Patrick Depailler.
I wondered if it was related. Thanks for the info.
When I heard the name that was the first thing that popped into my mind, thanks for confirming.
Ligier actually won some Formula 1 races in the late 70s when Guy Ligier took over the Matra team.
His name lives on with this company.
Even at (almost) 30, I enjoy driving my Ligier JS50 and have no urge to try and get a normal license, it's slower obviously so I get a lot more reaction time while driving. I didn't like highways during my manual/automatic driving lessons and I'm much happier just driving slower on Dutch roads.
In Italy you can drive this if you are 14 years or older (it is classed as a microcar)..glad it is finally silent now it is EV, the older versions were sooo annoyingly noisy.
And they have diesel engine
Well there you go, I learnt something new today
Hmmmm.... Annoyingly noisy compared to what? At least from the outside they are usually not more noisy than a 2 wheel moped, not to mention one with an aftermarket exhaust, as many got.
@@GoldenCroc they produce a noise like tractors- lawn mower
@@riccardomarinoni6733 Thats not the same as those avalible in northern europe them, even the ICE ones are, as I wrote, no more loud than a standard condition 4 stroke moped and way, way more quiet than 2 stroke mopeds with tuning exhausts that are common in southern europe.
This would look awesome wrapped in old Ligier F1 livery
How about a 1000km test with this? :D And a banana-box test, naturally!
I don't think it fits in a banana box.
I think 1000km would end it
No are you crazy????
He should do the Artic Circle challenge
@@iambenmitchell True! 😁
He should at least do the overnight camping test.
Nice, the onboard charger is easy accessible. Would like to exchange it with a 11kw unit - basically fast charging 😂
0 to 100% in just an hour 👍
What a nice man! I love how businessmen can’t wait to turn Bjorn loose on their vehicles. If I lived in Norway, I would so be a customer of all your automotive (and marine) associates!
That shows they are confident in their products.
It would be ideal for a 'Sunday Driving' test. It, at least, looks smart.😊
The diesel variant is commonly seen in France - its a ‘sans permis’ so if you lose your license for drunk driving or something you go and buy one of these to drive to the bar!
Same in Italy, when you see adults driving this it normally means they have lost their license in one way or another :) The Ligier of shame haha
And also in Austria, it’s called a Buschenschank-Ferrari here. It’s just crazy how much they cost new here, a new Dacia is much cheaper
@@P4LL3R Yeah and the insurance costs are crazy at least in here.. I suppose when the amount of production is low all the spare parts are expensive and if you collide with this you generally have to replace a lot of body parts since they are so fragile.
wow what a quiet microcar, not annoying at all the diesel version is really common here in finland, a lot of teenagers drive them around, especially at night now that the summer break has started.. these things would not be annoying at all!
No, you wouldn’t even know that you have been run over by one 😯
@@nakfan It's likely the car will damage if they run over a pedestrian.. I mean these things are deathraps if they collide with a regular vehicle.
@@akse ... still much more safe than an actual moped though.
@@stephanweinbergerhow so? A small fender bender and you might lose your legs... I would think not be trapped in a seat belt, i.e. riding a moped, would be safer in many types of accidents.
@@GeckoForReal maybe in some types, but for most accidents having any kind of crumple zone (regardless how rudimentary) is a plus.
The Kewet Buddy was also a quadacycle. In Norway all the Buddies sold were motorcycle class, and not moped class like this one.
The Silence S04 moped car has already started deliveries in Spain, you should check it out when it gets to Norway, it reaches 85km/h with two removable batteries (11 kWh) starting from 10 200 euros with 30€/month battery swap service.
Too bad it's more expensive than a real EV; while having less range, less power and no safety equipment (crumple zone, airbags, etc., they simply don't exist as it's classed as a sort of moped / quad and not an actual vehicle). At a price point of 16k€+ for ABS and A/C it's a waste of money, as it does not even qualify for EV subsidies due to its classification.
@@KonsaiAsTai Well yeah, at 16k it's a bit steep but for 10k (here in Spain) I think it has a market, car sharing companies have already ordered a bunch and posh kids love them to drive from their homes to school, regular middle class people could also consider buying it as a second car just for the city.
In Germany, too.
There are versions going 6, 25, or 45 kph.
For anything above 6 kph you need a kind of permit. The 45 kph variant requires an actual drivers licence (theoretical test only). Can be driven from age 16 on.
45 kmh 1000km test? :D
@@wojciechkruzel6569 well yeah thats the joke, mate.
You should test the citroen ami too, some has been pararel imported to norway, its a moped car too.
Or the Opel-Twin Rocks E. There is a third Stellantis-version without doors, but more for southern europe.
P.S.: Found it. Fiat Topolino 🙂
but the Citro/Opel are Much cheaper !
Great to see this model.
I was amazed to see the unused space within the front motor section of this car.
looks better than the Dacia Spring inside and outside 🎉
but they could easily have moved some stuff in the front and put in a Frunk
Space optimization in a car is not that easy. Low optimization is necessary to enable a low price.
alternatively it could have been mad a little more aerodynamic & even a bit lighter with a lower hood, giving it a few more kilometers of range.
I have watching your video wondering what BIL means for years. I know I am stupid. Lol. Great stuff🙏👊
The root word is the familiar "automobil" - in some languages, the "auto" part stuck as an abbreviation, and other languages took the "bil" part into use.
Can’t wait for the winter trip to the Arctic Circle 🥶
I think most countries classify these as quadracycles. Not legal in most of the US, but I’d go for one of these in retirement villages over the golf carts they seem to require for their residents.
Some states have NEV and/or LSV laws, product would be legal in those states.
There was a lot of talk about NEV in the late 90s due to the lack of full size EVs..
NEV = Neighborhood Eletric Vehicle
LSV = Low Speed Vehicle
1000 km challenge please, Bjorn!
Great - you can make so many jokes about it- but those cars are quite common in France - better have them electric then driving around as a 2 stroke pest
Cool idea! Will it be in the states soon?
1000km test gonna be fun
“Light quadricycle”, I think?
Looking forward to all the tests, including winter test in 2024
I would guess that the 1kW heater is not sufficient in Norway.
I have an electric K-car , and 2kW is not sufficient in winter (PTC element limits itself to 2kW at low SoC.)
You also need power to initially heat the cabin.
I would love to see a thousand-kilometer test with this one. LOL.
Looks like a cool car. In the Netherlands, these can be driven from 16 y.o. with a moped license. They are often used by older people that do not need a full car anymore or by students. Perfect for city traffic and groceries. They are a bit pricey though. Dutch prices start at just under 14K euro
14k euros, why would 14 year old drive these? Max speed 45, its a moped but cost way too much... Up to around 190 range for high spec, why u need that if u cant go on to the motorway. Im not sure why People buy these.. Not to get wet when it rains? Lol they would be perfect for the city, but id rather get a moped for way cheaper...
I am not sure if they are the same company but there is another company called Ligier Automotive, in France. I used to work with them. They manufacture very high end race vehicles (eg. Le Mans LMP1/2, F3/F4). Would be complete opposite sides of the spectrum. Good looking ride and excellent for European city and country travel. Wouldn't work, here in the US (I am in Miami). Any teen who gets this as their first ride (prior to being of age for a real car) is living large.
Yes, it's the same Ligier. They built things like sports cars, F1 cars for their own team and also the Citroën SMcars before they specialised in ultra light cars and utility vehicles and autonomous micro busses.
Would love to reconfigure the components under the hood for a frunk, plenty of space in there.
I really like the styling! :) But the European regulators really should upgrade the speed limit for those small vehicles to 50 oder 60 kph...45 ist just too slow, even for the city/suburbs.
You don't need a driver license to drive these.
45km/h is plenty for somebody without a license (usually, they lost it because of bad driving).
@@xmtxx I know…but 5kph more would not be a problem.
@@monsieurb90 Yes it does. Survival rates of pedestrian plummet around those speed. 50km/h it's only 40% of survival.
30km/h is at 85%.
40km/h is at 70%
The curb is exponential, 5km/h DOES matter a lot.
If anything, the speed limit should be lowered. the drivers of these vehicles, are REALLY dangerous.
@@xmtxx So 0kph would be the best… 🙄
@@monsieurb90 You said, that 5km/h would not be a problem. I gave you numbers showing that it is, in fact, a problem.
I expected a better argument.
You should do the Artic Circle challenge in this Bjorn!
I agree!!! 😁
And i cant wait for the banana box test. Would be interesting how many of this cars fit in one box 😂.
Seriously, i think a test in winter and at least a 250 km challange would be enlightening! Banana box test is fast done (if you try to fit the box in the car, not vice versa 😜), so please do it too.
Looking forward for Björn to do the range test.
Glad I checked out this video,I LOVE IT,everything I need, enough space for me my dog n some shopping,am assuming the speed is electrically inhibited,if so raiding it to 100km/h should be possible for regular driving, and a 45kWh pack at 90km/h should give roughly 450km of range, awesome, awesome car
The front grill design reminds me a little of the Suzuki IGNIS, look forward to seeing the test drive
Hi, car price?
In Portugal, we call these things "papa-reformas" which means "retirement pension eaters".
I think you can guess why.
Seniors can have a very hard time getting or renovating their driver's licenses so they can have an easier path by getting an easier license with vehicle limitations.
u know i used to think 45kph is slow but within a city thats actually fine?
I wish we had these in the USA. I miss Europe daily. I'll get a Mo-ped and just wait until one of these makes it to the USA. It'll probably be $30,000 USD for one though.
1000km challenge? ;) 45km/h and 2.2kWh/h charging, it would take 23h of driving and 30h of charging 😊
*2.2 kW (not kW/h)
Could I order one ... I am in England/Liverpool ?
You shold try Dacia Spring 😁
Where is the battery compartment
I want one! Wonder if they are in the UK
Silence is also doing something like this, also 86km/h version
haha nice how an iMiev pulls out at 9:00. I miss mine.
Many of EU standard it is called quadricycle L6e but tbh i dont know why it called that way
no drive of the thing?
the range is pretty okay, I wonder if there can be a version without 45kph limit. In China the miniEV really has model with 90kph top speed and ~100km range priced at 5000Euro
How much does it cost?
Comparison test with this and Citroen Ami would be fun.
the lemon is more frugal but also it costs only half !
The Ligier is probably not thrown together like the Ami. The Myli will be ideal for me if (and that's a HUGE if) it ever comes to the UK. Mark you, I was looking forward to a Think EV, but that never happened.
Bjorn, please don't say it's for older people. This is actually eco-friendly car. We need those, not oversized SUVs and trucks.
I didn't say it. Andreas did.
Did I miss the price ?
My friend had one of these back when we were 15 in 2011 but it did only like 50 km =D
fortunately you won’t have to do the 1’000 km challenge but banabox and range test will be interesting
What's the price?
Price ???
In rural Germany these types of cars are very famous among students and pupils. Because of the bad infrastructure in rural communities
In Latvia u can drive these at age 14
Hmm? Livestream with this cool thing? Good luck hammering with this EPA moped car thing.
it will be cool if it had a frunk , maybe as an optional . whit more configuration likes bigger motors and battery ( 11kw and 300km of range ?? ) i'll still buy it for 20k , looks amazing !
A questo punto prendi una spring
@@riccardomarinoni6733 eh chai ragione , allora mi accontenteri di una versione con il frunk ! anche pk parte da 15 mila in italia ,
This is a quadricycle in the UK, like a Citroen Ami.
God someone needs to get this car to Sandy Munro... I want to see his reaction when that bonnet gets opened.
That thing is incredible to be honest. Will it ever be available in the UK?
Silent, Like Ninja..
That should be the slogan
Does it come an any other color but muddy clay gray dirt?
This is definitely a small car! Makes the Smart car look big.
No ac ?
If it could be delivered in a version that can do 80-100km/h, it would be a great competitor for the Renault Twizy.
If it were capable of those speed it would be classified as a car, and it would be subject to much more stringent regulations and crash tests, which would increase weight and cost. Which is why the Twizy never was particularly cheap...
@@lozkko Twizy isn't classified as a car.
Eerrrrrr. No 1000km test? 😢. 192km range? My guess is 36 hours. Suck it up Bjorn 😂.
That is by far the best looking small car and not embarrassing like an Opel Rocks or Citroen Ami where they did not even produce different parts for left and right, and front and back.
It costs about 13000 Euro in Germany which is more expensive, but not to compare with a Rocks.
Perfect for the Rusbus (?) people to drive through your neighborhood
Yes, with EcoFlow you can double the range 😅
Citroen Ami just laughs at this
Almost like a k-car. We need more smaller cars - especially in Europe. It doesn´t look to bad.
A k car is a real car, this is a moped on 4 wheel, Max speed 45 cant Even go on the motorway lol. No idea why People buy them.
@@royalizetheplantman I know.
Design No.1
Look good
And storng
Like most French small vehicle builders Ligier started to address the Sans Permis market. Like every Moped in Europe these were license free in France. This category got included in EU not that long ago. Category LS06e, is what you are looking for, though the Citroen Ami/Opel Rocks-e is heavier and more powerful, not sure how they got away with that. Normally that would have been LS07e, requiring an B(1) license not an AM.
First Ligier actually marketed ca. 1980, with the classic 50cc limit on 2 stroke Mopeds: th-cam.com/video/lsaxjo1I6zs/w-d-xo.html
When did they increase the weight limit by 75 Kg, or a smidge over 21%?
looks cool.
Much better than an Ami, I'd drive that on my commute
Trunk = Boot, Hood = Bonnet.
It would be great to have this in the Uk and do 50mph 😉
than go for the Suisse/italian little buggy, for 15 K Euros it gives you up to 90 Km/h, fenomenal accelerations and a retro style !
I'm willing to bet that in Denmark it's the same as a regular car. So 18 if you want to be able to drive by yourself.
Can’t wait for the 1,000km challenge 👍
52 hours, you're welcome.
@@timogronroos4642 I wanna SEE it.
@@Plexipal also watching this challenge would be very challenging
Love the Myli, but here in the UK our rules on quadricycles like this are stricter than most EU countries...license required.
Wow, this car make me love it. Hopefully bring this car to my country Malaysia. Because I need find small electric car with Android Auto support. And this car be my learning driving car.
oo i would like this in australia, could use for everyday transport and leave the fossil for long journeys :-))
Are quadricycles legal in Australia? (Asking from NZ)
@@snich63 Only for offroad use i think. Cant even get a twizzy here
not in Oz, more is the pity!
This thing is some kind of nice.
I wish Hyundai would electrify their Casper!
If you change the pulley ratio you might get more top-end speed
❤❤❤
awesome
Looks way nicer than the Citroen Ami
I'd like to see more normal mini cars where they skip a useless tiny back row, make them 2-seat and instead have decent luggage space like in this Ligier. Very nice!
Guys, please look at MG Comet ev in India.
Great car, if the price would fit the useable performance. They are to expensive. But Ligiers are expensive, even with fossile drive train. They probably do not have high enough production numbers to achieve economy of scale. Maybe the electrification can help with that.
Ah! Nese lader!
WHEN ITS SOMETHING NEW & IT GOING APEAL TO A MASSMARKET. WHY PRICE LEFT OUT ? Hmm
BECAUSE YOU CAN FIND THE PRICE IN THE LINK.
If this were available in the United States I would buy one.
If an F-150 doesnt acknowledge you there is a risk of becoming a bug on the windshield. Considering the frame is very weak. They weigh maximum 425 kg, like 1000 lbs.
Better and safer than the French AMI, it appears?
It's crying out for a turbo busa motor :)
