    Looks really nice but I always think it's a bit dangerous to look faster than it is in case cars don't slow down, drivers know a cycle is going around 8-15mph typically.

    Reminds me of my first moped, in 1976; a Honda SS50. It counted as a moped because there was a convoluted linkage that allowed you pedal it at walking pace. I remember taking the pedals off (which turned it into a motorcycle) and passing my driving test on it after reaching 17.

    I'm a motorcyclist and a massive advocate for getting more people especially young people onto motorcycles in order to cut traffic. This would be a great way to get people into that as a young teenager. The only thing I fear with this is that no insurance etc with no license or training accidents and law suits could cause problems.

      If anything a car is more of a toy in a city like london because it is just terrible at actually doing what you need to do. It's an expensive hobby owning a car in London. Expensive to buy, fuel & maintain, insurance, tax, MOT, parking charges, congestion charges, ULEZ charges etc.

    Pleasant review, generally informative and not too much "street" in the presentation. But the reviewer is a bit tall for the bike as he looks a bit of a turnip with his knees going all sideways enough to knock someone over. Nice idea for a bike, but needs to sort out the pedal/seat ratio. Good price. Hope it gets a good chunk of the market. Wouldnt like to drag it up to a flat though.

    Interesting. I had a legal, roadworthy, insured 49cc moped at the age of 14. Mine was a Raleigh Wisp and looked a bit like this one. Why was I legally allowed to ride on the road at 14, well that was the way it was in Guernsey back in the 1960’s. Anyway I think this little bike is a great idea. As for a licence or having insurance, well I think you should have third party insurance and loss insurance. Maybe sorting a licence would be too complex but some sort of cycle proficiency should be offered.

    No gears and seating position for me would be too low for pedalling. It would probably be OK for short person.

    • @ric4397
      @ric4397 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't need gears, and you're not really pedalling it. The pedal is linked to the back wheel basically only for legal reasons. Once you start pedalling, the motor does all the work for you, so the pedal is more of a throttle than to move the bike. When you're going top speed, the wheel is going faster than what it's geared for, so it's basically freewheeling, like pedalling in 1st gear when going down a hill. The pedal is just there to tell the motor to work. Also there's also a lot less leverage in the pedals as they're quite short, so your legs also don't do much movement, so the low riding position really isn't a problem.

    • @nickwinn7812
      @nickwinn7812 ปีที่แล้ว

      More power would mean it is a moped and would require a driving licence insurance etc etc. This thing is just exploiting a loop-hole in the law by pretending to be a pedal assisted e-bike.

    • @flitsies
      @flitsies ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nickwinn7812 It's not actually exploiting anything, it actually is an Ebike that looks like a moped.
      That doesn't mean more power isn't needed, it just means the laws governing Ebikes and potentially Escooters are out dated and do not meet the needs of the people, that is why they are flouted by just about every single Ebike manufacturer.
      No ebike would sell if their bikes only went 15.5 mph, so most have geared systems that allow the rider to go faster.
      However this system is unfair on people who are not physically able and thus suffer being stuck when they ride an ebike or potentially escooter.
      The law should be 20 mph for ebikes and escooters before they need to be registered, over 20 mph and it then becomes a super ebike which means it should be registered but no demand for insurance, over 29 mph you should have to get insurance.
      There needs to be an increase in power for the larger rider as trying to get up a hill on a 250 watts bike is difficult with a larger rider.

    Looks like a moped but my conventional ebike has the same range but looking like a moped it will not get a great reception when mixing with pedestrians who seem more tolerant of conventional looking bike riders who are trying to stay out of the way of cars an lorries. For a delivery bike it may make sense.

    That looks great - but I imagine not all plod / traffic wardens will be up on what’s legal and what isn’t, so you’ll spend half your time trying to explain the rules to them, or getting them to come out and take the wheel clamp off, or trying to work out where it’s been incorrectly impounded! Plus where I live - it’d be nicked in minutes.

  • @corsinivideos

    Major problem with this is that the top speed of 15.5mph is a bit of a joke and with 250w it won't get you up any decent size hills at decent speed. So for close £2000 seems like not the best deal.

    so, no direkt paddling as far as I understand. only thing driving you is the 250W motor up to 25kmph. It's ok for a flat city with slow traffic, but you can't go faster than 25kmph regardless how fast you paddle and if there is a hill you can't help it to go over, so you probably won't go over a 7-8% slope.
    it looks cool and is probably ideal for tourists in a city, but I don't see the appeal for anyone who really wants something to get from A to B fast.
    Also be prepared to get into a lot of police controls, since it just looks like a scooter without registration. you'd probably get around on an 750W e-bike with throttle with less hassle.

    It kinda plays with your head because it looks like a petrol scooter, and you just feel you're going to keep getting stopped by the police who will think it is one (I guess if you weren't wearing a helmet, you would be stopped on every block by the police). The saddle looks like it needs to be higher because there seems to be a chance of rubbing your ears with the inside of your knees. Still, I like it and the price is crazy-cheap. These things are definitely the future.

    It may be legal in France for those aged 14 and over, but not in the UK.
    Must be below 36volt and limited to 16.4 mph.
    Police will confiscate and crush it if you are caught going faster - and the fines may be higher than the cost of the scooter.
    Injure someone while riding it and you’ll be going to prison.

    • @Eclipse_Central

      The mileage depends on where you live. I live in the countryside and I only get round about 25 miles per 7 hour charge.
      realisticly, you will not get 40-50 miles anyway. because that's only measured in ideal conditions. their is differant types of factors to take acount.

    Ironically you were speaking to a guy from Ireland and asked him if he’d like to take one to Ireland… well Ireland is different, and the e-bike law is vague at best, unlike the UK it’s not as simple as 250w pedal assist.. whilst many people, including myself, do ride electric bike.. they are technically not legal as of early 2023 yet in Ireland although a law is hopefully catching up to make them legal soon.

    • @neilfromcork
      @neilfromcork ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're getting confused between the rules on ebikes vs the rules on scooters. Ireland follows the EU rules on ebikes. eScooters and where you're allowed use them is, like in many places, currently a grey area.

    • @andrewstones2921
      @andrewstones2921 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zigzagsox correct, Ireland does not technically follow EU e-bike rules, though in practice you’d have to be extremely unlucky to have your e-bike confiscated it’s possible. It’s not the only area of road law where Ireland does not follow EU law.. for example an Irish person cannot drive a car registered in some other part of EU in Ireland for more than a few days without paying a large fee, and whilst EU says you can buy car insurance from any EU insurer, in Ireland you may only use motor insurance from a insurance company that has an Irish office. To be fair, Ireland is not the only EU state to have such rules.

    • @andrewstones2921
      @andrewstones2921 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neilfromcork it would be logical to assume that I’m confusing scooters and e-bikes, but I am not. To be clear, myself and many thousands of others do routinely ride e-bikes with no interference from the Guarda (Ireland police) at all, however e-bikes are not technically legal. Scooters are kind of the same, except that you are in some areas likely to have a scooter confiscated, you are not likely to have your e-bike confiscated.
