One of the things I'm starting to like about your vids is the preparedness to document your mistakes along the way. As a bang-average modeller, I get as much inspiration from knowing that better people than me can louse things up, as I do from seeing the successful result at the end. Well done, and great job on this 262.
There are plenty of great modelers out there hosting their TH-cam channels but yours is outstandingly unique! Watching your vids always feels like being taken on a mystery tour into unexplored territory yet to be discovered . What makes them so special to me is the complete absence of any technical routine whatsoever - as highly skilled it might ever be - which boringly prevails in so many other videos released on the subject. And at the core of it - it’s the role you chose for yourself: Other than the rest of the cast on the TH-cam modeling venue who seems to have adopted for themselves and apparently rejoices in being part time ‚behind the scene‘ - guides rushing crowds with eyes full of childish amazement through their neatly assembled Lilliput, while keeping an eye constantly out for the numbers to reach that would attract sponsors, your way of presentation has nothing of that. It far more resembles that of an explorer and expedition leader who - with a bushwhacker in his hand - cuts his way through the thicket of the jungle of possibilities, not knowing until last whether he’ll succeed or fail, while sharing his thoughts, plans and doubts in comments full of subtle humor with his small company of comrades and followers.
Gorgeous!!! What a beautiful plane. Once quarantine is over, I can’t wait to make my way over to my local hobby store and try out some of these techniques you taught us in this episode.
You are certainly a very good painter and get very nice subtle shading on the cockpit and engine details. Like others I don't like over weathering and washing of models. An interesting kit also.
I really appreciate Greg's style regarding weathering: subtle, not heavy handed. Some modellers out on TH-cam, not naming any names, (ahem, Plasmo), end up with results like the frigging plane was just exhumed from the bottom of the ocean. Excellent 262, really interesting.
Its called Artistic License. Everyone has a base 'Style' everyone's style can be clean or the filter can be turned up to 11. I build models in clean style as the weathering sessions often add too many hours of work for me to actually follow through and finish the model. P.S. Leave the call outs for the drama kids
@@andrewkaminskas7721 Appreciate your input. If I hadn't mentioned you I doubt I would have gotten it. Criticism is vital to art and science, I hope you take this as intended and not as too much of a slight. To your point, there is also a science to weathering, not just art or artistic license. Striving for realism as you do, I feel you sometimes forget that in wartime a lot of aircraft, particularly in WW2, literally did not last long enough in service to get as dirty as often portrayed. So that if weathering is overdone it actually detracts from historical realism. My 2 cents anyway.
@@jimkrb the artistic license negates the aim for historical realism. If im choosing to make my me262 look like it had seen more combat than anything else, then this means that i kinda have to ignore the fact that, in this case, most me262 were looking quite pristine. Critique should therefore also take the authors intention into consideration. If i say, that i want to make it look a certain way that might not be historically accurate, and then someone tells me that the weathering is too much to be historical accurate, then this critique is kinda obsolete, since the author was never aiming for the goal of realism. What im NOT saying by this is, that its not legit for you to say "me personally, i prefer historical accuracy when it comes to scalemodeling over artistic style". That being said: This is a hobby that has not one goal only called realism :)
Nice, very nice indeed. Your building skills are obviously beyond reproach, and your skills at painting and weathering are equally superb. Really enjoy watching your projects take shape, I'm about to start work on the Airfix 1/24 Stuka myself, inspired by your recent videos on the subject 👍
What a great build Greg great colours & weathering very interesting clear parts works well would be great to see you do the Trumpeter 262 with diorama thankyou stay safe jon
Once again.. another tremendous video with immaculate execution. I have one of these in my stash.. hopefully it will end up half as good as yours! Thanks for sharing your talent. Best wishes.
Fantastic work! Got some tips and some additions to my shopping list here :) I seem to add more things to that list than I ever buy... but good to know they're out there.
No me parecia atractivo este modelo, lo habia visto pero, no loconsideraba interesante, pero despues de ver tu trabajo en este Kit, me arrepiento de no haberlo comprado. felicitaciones muy buen trabajo
That was cool. Haven't built airplane models since I was a kid but I wish this existed back in the 1970 s. I used to have to get very imaginative with my dad's zippo lighter and exacto knives. It was hit and miss. I would come up with all kinds of crazy ways to simulate battle damage etc.
Very Nice Build, I’ve one to do in my stash. Great approach between clear & painted fuselage. & ability to see clear Engine. Great reference vid. Thanks. Ive Lots of clear models, several with Jumo engines
I've stated using varnish just recently for my clear parts as i noticed like you how good it it at sticking the lids on the jars. Seems to draw the parts together as well which is great for canopies.
Hi Greg, I personally don't like to work on models with see-through parts like this, however - I really like what you've done with this one, the model turned out very nice, well done.
The Me-262 was a very nice looking plane, good job the Germans didn’t managed to put it into full production, we would of been in serious trouble, very nice model, I’m going to try this one myself, thanks.
Hi Greg amazing build buddy also never seen someone use white tack for mottle camo what a clever idea do you use this technique all the time for german mottled aircraft. cheers Gary from the Midlands.
Soooooo cool of a build!! Great to see someone presenting a kit using the clear parts, tamiya does seem to not mold figures worth a damn, that being said, I like the use of graphite on the the engines, beautiful build and love the finished piece!!!!!
Loving your approach to documenting both the general build and the progress good and ‘should have read the instructions’ moments👍🏼. One question … the one glove? I get the keeping finger marks of the build, but the other hand also touches the model or is it a ‘best reduction approach, minimise contact with one hand gloved and the dominant hand remaining i gloves for small and dexterous tasks …. Certainly saves on stripping off a glove and drying a sweaty hand….. just curious👍🏼
I suffer with my hands. And every now and then one will flare up, sometimes both. As far as greasy fingers, I always wash my hands before getting on with any build. And just before final paint will clean/prep the surface anyway.👍
Really a lovely model you have done but if I may I would like to point out that I did not see much stencil if any around because it was quite intensive unless it was produced at the "forest factories" and shortage of paint!
Great looking model but those Ejection pin marks are really distracting. Wish the Tamiya engineers could have found a way to avoid them although I really don't see how. Again, looks great.
Recognized as the world's first jet fighter aircraft the 262 A-1a like the 264 and Me 1099. All those German jet fighters. That's the plane the Germans placed their hope in as a strong fighter along with Hitler's erroneous judgement, Hitler envisioned this aircraft as a fighter of the Luftwaffe.

Sometimes can't see the wood for the trees, gets worse as I get older
The painting of the yellow of the fuel tanks was brilliantly done.
Excellent build & some really simple but great techniques. 👍

Wow! I'm speechless! I think I'll include this on my CV!
👍😎🎸🎶
What the hell are you dithering on about?
Got this exact kit off eBay. Very nice kit indeed. Thank you for giving me inspiration!
I was half expecting that pilot figure's bulbous head to be replaced by a clear plastic one with a visible brain inside!
Lol😂🤣
😂
🤯😂😂
Outstanding Greg. You have inspired me not to shy away from building a partially clear kit. Seeing it done right makes all the difference
Go for it 😎
Tamiya makes a great Ki-61 Hien. One fuselage half is clear. Makes a good paint mule if you don’t go the clear route.
Gorgeous!!! What a beautiful plane. Once quarantine is over, I can’t wait to make my way over to my local hobby store and try out some of these techniques you taught us in this episode.
Great video, the transparent panels are fantastic.
Thanks for sharing the build! I picked up one of these when they were first released, so this will be useful when I start construction!
Hermoso trabajo ,tengo varios de esos 262 en carpeta ,para luego comenzar a construir ,gracias por mostrar tu trabajo ,un saludo desde Chile

Really nice informative video. You always manage to impart new skill tips which is much appreciated. Great finished product. Cheers Stu

Beautiful work. I really enjoy the way you paint your models.
Very nice job and an enjoyable watch. I really like the clear parts and how you handled them.
Excellent!
Great video Greg. Poor old Herr Bumheads gone in the bin!. Gott in Himmel!.
😂
Great work Greg. Again absolutely top work on this very interesting kit 🥇🏆👍
wow, great result, you honestly deserve way more subs

VERY nicely done! It looks amazing! Keep up the great work!
Looks amazing! Great build…learned a lot!
Not see models with clear parts to them un-painted, gives a nice look to the piece to see the detail. 👍
One of the best looking planes ever made imo
Really cool build Greg.

Looking amazing mate!!

Great job with the paint and effects on the parts.
Another great build.

As always excellent work lovely model , thought the pilot was good . Shame about the decal incident but it doesn't detract from the model.
Nice kit and a great build, congratulations!
Nice build . I done a clear build years ago went wrong . Painted it in the end .
Hi Greg amazing build buddy also never seen someone use white tack for mottle camo what a clever idea do you use this technique all the time for german mottled aircraft. cheers Gary from the Midlands.
Unbelievable work here!!!
BEAUTIFUL
Clear kits have made be nervious, mabey now.
Very nice build, have subscribed, all the best Garry
What a beautiful kit you did a great job
That's a tasty looking aircraft...Great job 👍
Great looking kit .
Muy buenas habilidades para un modelo muy complejo. Congratulations !!!
omg that is amazing, didnt think it would turn out that good which is most part due to your skill
Love that, wonderful build.

Nice aircraft model jet like the clear edition the fuselage and engines.

Yes so true.
Brilliant result
This popped up on recommendations, new subscriber 😉👌
👍
looks amazing! Did you end up using the decal on the tail for the camo or did you painted that on? Cheers!
No painted on 👍
I w as always scared of clear kits but you have made it look easy 👍🏼
That’s is incredible dude!
Thanks for your work!
I want a model jet like that for myself clear
Bloody awesome
Great build!
Fantastic build, well done... still always a shame when modeler's bin usable parts rather than pass them on to others.
Thats a nice kit I like the 262
Looks great.
RTFM - Read the F.c.i.g Manual!! We men don't. Great vid Mate - thanks for posting :-)
Nice work Greg have we had a star fighter yet ? Regards Gav.
Maybe a Westland Lynx next?
Like it . Regards Gav.
Great work
Great job!
Thanks for the video. Two things I take away from this video are: sh*t happens and you are human. Very nice model.
Beautiful!
Well done sir!!!!
Excellent!!! 👍🏻
Which glue do you use to attach painted parts/assemblies?
It depends on the assembly; Tamiya extra thin or sometimes PVA glue.
Great build. Subbed.
Outstanding
Great video
You said you weren't too keen on Vallejo matt varnish, just out of interest, why is that?
I find if I'm not careful it can go chalky.
It’s not old age Greg, it’s that your stash is too big for you to remember exactly what you have.! 😂
😂
How big is your stash?! My stash is just 5 models big.. lol
I got rid of my stash some years ago, 15-25 kits left here and there.
Looks like something Wonder Woman would fly.
Oh, my. Mounting the instrument decals, I would fail fabulously and feel sad the rest of the day. ^_^
Class👍🏻👌🏻
Great looking model but those Ejection pin marks are really distracting. Wish the Tamiya engineers could have found a way to avoid them although I really don't see how. Again, looks great.
