      An American made sub $300 overbuilt fixed blade will outperform ALL of these tank folders, with more strength, reliability, no moving parts, fastest deployment, and ease of maintenance.
      You've been suckered.🤣🤣🤣

    • @kevinAuman1
      @kevinAuman1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheScotchaholic I don't think I have been suckered at all bub, I am an avid knife collector and own over 1000 different knives of all types, sizes, styles and price ranges! My medford smooth criminal smkw exclusive in S45VN is an absolutely amazing knife to own, it is super thinly ground- precision machined making it smooth (like the model name) and Greg Medford nailed the heat treatment with this steel as even though it is super thin it is somehow still tough as nails I actually cut a copper penny in half with it and it still sliced cleanly through magazine paper afterwards! So yes while some knives cost more you certainly get what you pay for and they are all an investment- some only ever increasing in value and if you buy for example a cruwear sprint run for $150 then 6mos later when they'll sold out and somebody was late to the show but really wants one they'll pay $400-500 for that knife! So I fully understand why some knives cost more than others and if you properly maintain them then the resale value is equal to the amount you paid for it within reason....

    • @TheScotchaholic
      @TheScotchaholic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinAuman1
      If you're talking from an investment standpoint for resale, I get it.
      In terms of performance per dollar and function, compared to other makers and blade types, it's not worth it from strictly a cost-performance stance.

      So few views? Why?
      Because there's a lot of suckers that don't understand basic science and physics, and want to justify their expensive purchases - they don't want to see the ugly truth in terms of performance for the money.
      Cheaper overbuilt fixed blades will be far more durable, reliable, faster to deploy, and easier to maintain in the field.
      The only thing that tank folders have an advantage over fixed blades is compact size for discreet carry, more aesthetic variety, and maybe the latest high edge retention "super steels".

    Very interesting test! I have always kinda rolled my eyes at these tests (my opinion) because they are rather impractical. Realistically, who is going to be stabbing into jerry cans and batoning with a $900 folding knife, and the answer is very few. What it does show is that these products are built to last and endure the harshest of abuse tests, so they will withstand the hard use of realistic everyday task, or at least the very rare case when tasks like this may be needed. Very informative and great look into what these knives are made of and capable of doing. Great Vid!

    There is nothing odd about side to side play which was very minor when you are torture testing a folder. All you have to do is get a spanner #14 bit and a little bit of blue lock tight and readjust the pivot screw which is common to any folder and a very minor fix . The edge damage is very minor for what you did which means Medford did a good heat treat of the blade steel and yes some edge honing will sharpen that right up .

    So happy to see someone had the balls to put a Medford through the paces, thanks for the video!
    Just for shits and grins I recently horse traded an Emerson and a Hinderer for a new 2019 Praetorian T to try it out; very happy with the knife, found the "flamed & faced" show side scale to be slippery when wet and just too flashy for me...took a deep breath stripped the ano and orange peeled both the Ti scales then OxyCleaned to resurface for more grip and subdued look. All good now.
    The pivot tool for the full size Olamic Wayfarer will work on Medford's six pin pivot.
    Keep the videos coming!

    THE PROBLEM WITH THOSE MEDFORDS, IS YOU CAN'T FIXED IT BY YOURSELF, YOU CANT EVEN TIGHTEN THE PIVOT WHEN THERE IS BLADE PLAY, YOU HAVE TO SEND THEM IN, WHICH COST DOLLARS TO FIX, THUS YOU DONT WANT TO EVEN HARD USE THOSE KNIVES. THEY BECOME CLOSET QUEENS ...... THIS PROVES THAT EVEN SO CALLED SPECIAL STEEL BLADES DEFORMS TO CHEAP METAL OF JERRY CANS ....... EXCELLENT VIDEO.

    Excellent torture test. It was definitely excessive but that’s the point of a torture test, abuse the hell out of it and see how it holds up and this thing held up spectacularly all things considered. Medford’s are no nonsense knives for sure.

    Fixed blade is the way to go. Folders are for opening MRE or packages. Medfords are for collectors, who wants to slam an expensive folder into a Jerry can.

      J Luftig haha agreed a fixed blade is the most ideal for these type of things. This was purely to try and demonstrate the capabilities that’s all.

    These insanely overpriced tools need to be tested to test their hefty price tag. An overpriced fancy-finish tool should be put thru the ringer to prove if it’s even worth the ridiculous price tag.

    Play is probably from batoning. I’ve always heard to Baton (if you’re going to) with the lock disengaged. It definitely should be dull. It was slapped several times into steel. No a blade one that’ll not be dull after that. I’m waiting for round two.

    • @DirkWerning
      @DirkWerning  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John M. Runyon how could you batton with the lock disengaged???

    • @johnm.runyon3682
      @johnm.runyon3682 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dirk Werning you make the knife in a “L” shape. Stick the edge of blade in the wood, then disengage the lock and let the handle swing down. (“L” shape). Then hammer away.
