The purpose of this channel is to share some of my knowledge with you. I remember the feeling when I first became a custodian. I was given a set of keys, a radio and a badge. Didn't get any training whatsoever. Being a custodian is not rocket scientist knowledge. There are definitely things that a custodian needs to know. I call it the art of the trade. Tips and tricks that can make the job much easier and enjoyable.
Being a commercial cleaner such as a custodian is much different than just cleaning at your home. from waxing floors, to making and following a schedule. Oh and I must add dealing with many issues and people. There is nothing special about me. I'm just your average guy out here doing the daily grind just like you. I'm one of those folks, what you see is what you get. When I started at my school, all of my paper towel dispenser had years of black build-up under the push handle. Nasty, but got them all cleaned up.
I had the same brass handles on ur gymnasium entrance doors after cleaning them the faculty thought maintenance installed new handles 😅

I have brass cleaner but you can't use it on "burnished" fixtures...how's bars keepers handle those?
would Brasso be more effective with no scratches? In half the time?

When i did the summer scrub down and had extra time. I decided to clean all the original 1940s 1950s doorknobs and they came out amazing! But one of the asshole custodians yelled at me and said thats a waste of time and theres more important things to clean! That stuck with me forever as u can see. I think i did a wonderful job

How long of time to you get to clean a building?
Been working on this one a long time. It was a wreck when I got it. Now I’m getting to the small stuff. I also have 2 other buildings I take care of.

Have you or another fellow custodian coworker used the wrong cleaner on the VCT or Terazzo floor and it stripped the wax?
Several years ago we had a custodian put consume in an auto scrubber. Made the floor really stick. Took all day long to get it off. Floor was restored with a high speed burnish after it was mopped many many times.
