As a lightweight you really see how badly the game was centered around PvE when heavy weight tanks can just hold forward and spam fire while you're scrambling around like a coked up cockroach. But man, LWs just feel so much more fun to play.
Problem is assault boost coupled with the hardlock, I don’t see any reason why the hard lock should be that powerful in pvp, imo assault boost should only allow you to move in straight line on heavy
Yeah AB really threw a wrench in balancing. I love to play a light weight but I accept that there are better and easier options. It was really bad with the wheel chair since that could move just as fast if not faster than a lot of light weights but had AP and weight capacity.
Perhaps if melee weapons’ damage bypassed defense values more it’d be an interesting high risk answer to heavyweight builds. In my experience a lot of heavies try, and in many cases succeed, in opting to just tank the melee hit and force a trade where they have the undisputed advantage due to their high AC and imo overturned defense values

The way you show off in game examples of what is currently being discussed is fantastic. Im still trying to wrap my head around on how to make builds, and watching this just makes things a lot clearer. Awesome video!
I finally tried a BVO build myself after watching this. I gotta say... If you know what you're doing with movement and managing your energy, you barely get hit.. The only weakness I found so far was heavy tank builds with lasers. Other than that every other build is manageable.
If you’re running into a lot of tanks switch to slicer. I haven’t switched to pulse blade like most because I keep running into tanks and slicer tears through them.
yeah, tanks with laser weapons are a pain in the ass, because of how the netcode treats lasers. and if either of you have high ping, which is likely you end up getting hit when visually speaking you didn't on your end, makes fighting laser weapon builds a pain the ass.

Wow. All I can say is well done. I’ve tried out a hybrid of these two builds following watching this video and the results do not disappoint…the abundance of energy and speed combined with the quick stagger window decimates. I’ve won every match I’ve tried with this build so far. Thanks for the deep dive guys! Would be interested in seeing optimized medium-weight builds too!
Wow, thank you so much for the shoutout! As a fellow BVO ENJOYER, I loved this video! Thank you for this deep dive! Thanks again for the shoutout Mobi, it really means a lot :)
What a great watch! It's especially interesting to me as I'm also trying to use the BVO style in ranked PvP. Without resources such as this one, it would be very hard to improve on my own. It's also very interesting to see the different variations on the build. For example, I prefer to use the Laser Dagger, and have Active Homing Missiles. It's probably less optimal than the builds these top rankers have, but it's fun for me to pilot. I probably wouldn't want to use the Plasma Thrower since I really like the patch allowing most melee weapons to que up after a switch.
This video has given me life, I just finished the 3 finals and took all the pieces of gear to start in the pvp, the first 50 duels have been very hard. I have just been using a light AC from the beginning and the fact of seeing in this video conclusions that I have ended up reaching in my journey has been a wonderful feeling, which engine has to go yes or yes in my light AC, what thrusters with what chest, headaches with EN supply eficiency XDD Thank you guys for doing this work and uploading it, with that tone of interview with two expert players. Just super entertaining, and you have fueled even more my desire to continue improving to see if I rise from rank D greetings from Spain!
this was an awesome video, really great seeing the insights of individual players on a build archetype. Realised I had some room to improve my own lightweight build :D
Thanks for all the super helpful info! I really appreciate this series in how it brings different perspectives, gameplay styles, strategies, and build inventiveness to the table. Might have to try this out I've been playing like a budget BVO without melee, Rifles and missiles. Only thing that really gave me a hard time was tanks cus it turns into a battle of attrition. I can kite them but kills take forever and it just wears me down/ups my odds of slipping up.
Ramen runs close to the same build I do, except I am running Nacht core and VP arms along with laser dagger and sweet sixteen on back (admittedly for style) I rely heavily on burst damage after stagger and can usually 1 cycle any other light or mid AC but I'll have to see how it performs in higher ranks. Heavies are a challenge lol Good to know I'm on the right track. LW builds are the most satisfying to play and I haven't been able to go back since I spent like 2 hrs lovingly crafting my AC
Helpful stuff guys! I was just about to pack in AC6 ranked as my lightweight build was beginning to suffer at mid B rank, but after swapping my arms and generator to the Basho and San Tai the build is sooooo much better. Not to mention I've put my slicer away because of the tank treads bug

I wish this game rewarded engaging with the mechanics more, but I understand that they wanted to appeal to a larger audience. The lightweight and melee stuff is so sick it's disappointing that u can just negate a learning curve by throwing on tank treads
BVO-this, heavy tank-that, why can’t the middleweight AC’s get a portion of the limelight? I find it a little disheartening that the OG loadout from AC1; machine gun, laser blade, missiles and grenade cannon - is kinda useless in PVP. The instant that another player notices you’re performing decent with a middleweight, they’ll swap to a heavy tank or a tetra. Every single time.
Ok this game is way deeper I was thinking , tell me those are computer game play. On the Xbox is hard to track or charge and move fluidly, could be just me .
The game is in heavy need of nerfs in either directions extremes. Tanks need less stability, speed, and resistance. Vientos need to have half accumulative impact and 50% reload. Its too much impact per second. Ocellus also needs a close range nerf. Lamm legs need to burn more en if they are going to be that fast. Ps shield needs reduce deploys to 2 or 3. How has the meta for lighrweights changed after the new parts, specifically the new core piece. Do the best players find it a viable addition to the bvo playstyle or is the alba core superior?
Most people seem to stick with the Alba Core for now, but Ramen has been experimenting with the new core. But at the moment, it is not considered the optimal choice. Light Missile rats are eating good, as the new legs have 390 speed and outpace most builds easily.
