    Another good way to get the turrets is to use a launch pod to drop a melee pawn inside their minimum engagement distance. Obviously this works best for single turrets, but It's helpless to attack back.

    • @SpartiniMartini

      That works too! Sounds a bit expensive to do for just 1 turret though

      An even better tip is that Turrents can't see pawns inside smoke. So while this sniper trick is useful, it'll take ages to kill a turret with a sniper. You can instead get a smoke launcher and grenades(you can build these with machining research). This allows you to kill an infinite amount of turrets quite quickly with just two pawns.

    • @SpartiniMartini
      @SpartiniMartini  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the grenade trick is great, but doesnt work if there are mechanoids present as they will still attack you. sniper or a few mortar rounds usually help drawing them away from the mechcluster.

    Probably a super obvious tip but it's something that always helps me. If you get a psychic/defoliator ship you can cheese it before you have or instead of using mortars. It seems that everything but scythers have a leash range while the ship is alive, so you can lure scythers into a killbox first without worrying about any of the other mechs. Then if you happen to have a bolt action rifle or better you can dance around the edge of their aggro range and step back before they can shoot, this causes the mobs to turn around and walk back to the ship. Can be done with 1 pawn soloing a whole raid if need be, but its slow, otherwise setup shooters 1 tile outside leash range so they dont hold aggro and lure with 1 pawn, triggering them over and over to walk towards you and then walk away. Pikeman and lancers are highest priority targets as they will more often than not outrange you but still follow this same leashing mechanic so you can deal with them slowly.

      I've noticed something similear yeah but I never really looked into it that well. Thanks for sharing, I might look into it for a next tips & tricks video!

    • @NotFinalTillVinyl
      @NotFinalTillVinyl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SpartiniMartini It gets a little janky at times. Sometimes you'll get scythers that will chase you forever and other times they will leash like every other mech. It's most useful for centipede heavy raids, as especially once they are slowed from injuries 1 pawn can easily handle 10-15+ centipedes with ease, albeit slowly over a few days

    • @SpartiniMartini

      Uhm, for these types of ships, hopefully by then you'll have snipers, but the mechs usually cant leave the ship, you can actually just snipe them from max sniper range and they'll just all be confused unaware of where the bullets are coming from, you can slowly take them out one by one, I know ppl within the community hate CE but it has a sniper called the Hecate II that has crazy range that slowly take them down if you use aimed shot on any shooter pawn.
      The trick tho, is if you destroy the shop they'll magically know where your pawns are and start to come after u, once the ship is healthy they remain clueless and immobile

    For your next guide, you could include animal traps. Basically, outside your base or killbox, build a small tunnel house in an S shape, and hold the door open. Place a stockpile zone of a single tile, and set it to plant food or meals only. Animals will now come to you for easy taming or hunting. You can even kill dangerous but valuable animals, such as thrumbos and megasloths, with zero risk by just shutting the door behind them and waiting until they starve.

      @@SpartiniMartini It must be a mod doing it, I checked vanilla and animals do break out. That said, for frozen areas with no plants, it does help bring animals to you as well as keeping them in the area for taming. Also, they only break out once malnutrition hits, which imposes a -5% to consciousness. This slows them down and makes them less likely to hit you, as well as making them pass out faster. Safer to hunt, easier to tame, and at a centralized location just outside your base waiting for an animal pulse to counter a raid. It does use resources and some time to keep the area stocked though.

I can't pick mine blocks blindly, they are inside a mountain. But he won't just mine all useful resources, he needs to be pointed. So if I turn away for a sec, he has to run all the way to another spot. Or stay idle if I don't mark the other spot. But then he needs to run back because I marked more blocks to mine there.
