I put plastic on the outside of my windows instead of inside. Huge difference. But now want to do plexiglass so it can be permanent since overtime the plastic breaks down. I need new windows but can’t afford them so plastic on outside has helped me with keeping rain getting in cracks, and keeping drafts out and n both winter and summer cold/heat.
Am looking for outdoor plexiglass install/seal ideas. Perhaps you should seal a windows from the outside and see the huge temperature difference versus installing on the inside.

I've thought about putting glass up instead of wrapping up in plastic. Thanks for showing me how I could do it😀👍
I've thought of just drilling holes in the glass and bolting them to anchors in window frame. E-Z P-Z

I have been tempted to put plexiglass into frames made from slotted aluminum extrusions and seal them to the outside of the Windows to create triple pane windows. At 0 degrees C the furnace doesn't run. The Bedroom cools off too much due to the large surface area of the windows.

I want to do something like this for the old aluminum frame sliding door on our bedroom that goes out to a balcony. I put storm plastic on the outside, bubble wrap on the inside, caulked all the cracks and gaps, and put pipe wrap foam on the frame itself. But it still lets in a draft. So sorry of the several thousand it's going to cost to have somebody replace it, I need to do more.

Did you notice any difference in sound insulation?.

There seemed to be a little improvement.

I added 2 sheet of 3mm Lexan on double glass window. I seal Lexan with silicon glue. Yes, the sound insulation was increased with more then 10 dB.

How did it hold up all winter?

A large improvement. The inserts took the nip out of the air.
